@Edu23XWiiU Hopefully with the new Switch, the new joycons will still hopefully work for your original Switch which will be great. Since the current joycons are faulty, as proven by the evidence I've provided!
Here, if you look at the class action lawsuit documentation from page 32-35, you'll see how the technology really works. It isn't just the sticks (though they do play a big factor), it's the conductive pad which lies on the flexible circuit transmitting signals to the motherboard. The steel brushes that move according to analog movement rub away the carbon material that make up the pad leading to wear of the material and the cause of drifting. The entire build as a whole is faulty as shown.
Here's the solution for Nintendo, make a new controller which is what they might just be doing for the Switch Pro so if that's the case, wonderful. I don't see why you feel the need to revive such an old discussion with completely false information while attempting to patronize me. I'm getting exactly what I want and what many fans want, a potential solution from Nintendo to fix this problem! Personally, I don't think it's unreasonable to want a controller that won't drift on me just months after I receive them. Wouldn't you agree?
@the8thark Fair enough I appreciate this discussion and you have brought up decent points.
I think now knowing you have access to the entire documentation, you should look into it more as it will put this whole situation into much greater detail.
@the8thark First, the case has been ongoing since 2019. Nintendo can very well release the numbers and dismiss the case. They already have tried to dismiss the case but failed to provide numbers indicating they have a platform but fail to utilize it as they know it will harm their case.
Second, don't used Scribd, you can view the entire document on the website itself (Polygon.com) which I have done and is something you can very well do. You can even download it off of the site and view it offline in its entirety.
Third you say UFC hates Nintendo yet again but fail to provide evidence.
Finally, you say that Nintendo not releasing the numbers is pure speculation on my part but you saying UFC hates Nintendo and people on IGN are "hopping on the bandwagon" is speculation on your part. At least on my side, I have valid reason to assume this as Nintendo would very well release the numbers if they vouched towards their side because no business wants to be stuck in a lawsuit. You speculate for the sake of trying to defend your side without evidence.
@the8thark Of course Nintendo isn't going to give out their numbers. They're currently under a lawsuit for this and may be under a second one soon through UFC. They'd give out information in this if the data was on their side but they haven't because the data they have will only hurt their case. If I was convicted for a crime and had friends that would vouch for my side, then I would get them involved immediately. Yet, if I knew their testimonies would only hurt my case, I would neglect to get them involved as is what Nintendo is doing to avoid losing the case. Neglecting to provide the numbers to the public as they know it goes against their case. It's not an assumption either, this lawsuit has been ongoing for a while, they'd give out the data if the numbers were on their side to dismiss the case. Nintendo after all has attempted to dismiss this case but has been denied. All it would take is for Nintendo to release their official data to see the true story on this but their lack of doing so indicates there is an issue and they don't want the public to see the official numbers. https://www.polygon.com/nintendo-switch/2019/9/28/20888540/nintendo-switch-joy-con-drift-lawsuit-switch-lite-repairs
This link contains the entire documentation to the Class-Action Lawsuit Nintendo is currently still facing on the issue. It goes over everything you need to know regarding the issue. It even includes an in-depth analysis on the hardware and technology involved in the Joy-Con and why it drifts so easily along with many testimonies and the legality and legitimacy for the lawsuit in the first place.
@the8thark Quote from UFC: "65% of the testimonials gathered for the case show a malfunction within the first two years, and 25 percent experienced Joy-Con drift within six months"
And the IGN article was taken in the matter of around a week of data gathering whereas UFC's data gathering as you can see was based over a longer period of time. So both time frames of data gathering are different yet both produce the same conclusion. To believe that it's just "jumping on the bandwagon" is to attempt to disprove evidence for the sake of trying to defend your point of view without any of your own evidence. The numbers show in multiple sources that I bring up and ones that I don't bring up. All come to the same conclusion.
And I edited it in my above comment but you might have not seen it. Nintendo is doing drift repairs for free whether in warranty or not. If this isn't as widespread as you claim, Nintendo wouldn't be fixing the drift for free. If the Mario Party 1 analog stick controversy wasn't as widespread, they wouldn't have given away gloves for free. But they did and what's happening now is a repeat of that. An attempt to mitigate further issue by providing only a temporary fix to a much bigger problem.
@the8thark In which I continued to clarify on my standings by providing further evidence and disproving your claim regarding the role ACCC would play on the issue. You have provided no evidence on your part other than downplaying UFC and calling it "Hate on Nintendo" despite the fact that the data gathered was from thousands of Switch users and not the people running the site. I've also provided a source which showed in a poll conducted by IGN, that out of over 26,000 people who polled, over 9,000 of those people have experienced issues with drift in their Joy-Cons which is pretty widespread.
You say quote "Seriously I wish it was a more widespread issue" and for that I can say that your wish has come true. Multiple sources confirm this to be so. You claiming the evidence is just "hating on Nintendo" yet failing to provide your own source on the matter is ignorance on your part. Nintendo is providing free repairs whether in warranty or not regarding drift which should already be indication that many people are experiencing this issue and Nintendo is aware of it. If it wasn't widespread as you claim, Nintendo wouldn't be doing these repairs for free just as Nintendo wouldn't give out gloves for free if the analog stick controversy for Mario Party 1 wasn't widespread.
The Analog Stick among these HORI Joycons are identical to that of Nintendo's. So they drift in a sense that they use the same supplier or at the very least the same technology which actually further proves my point.
The fact that you provide no evidence of anything is why your credibility is 0. Along with the fact that you have failed to further respond to my evidence in which I proved that a class-action lawsuit is still taking place regarding this issue, my points with UFC, and the proof that someone has successfully been able to take Nintendo up to court on this and win which is not an anecdote but instead an example that contradicts the exact thing you're arguing against that being this issue won't hold up in court which I have just proved otherwise. If you support Nintendo, you should also support the people that play Nintendo games. That's your audience after all. The fact that you're trying this hard to defend Nintendo's actions is appalling.
@the8thark Hate on Nintendo? Clearly there is a widespread issue of Joy-Con defectiveness so studies are being done. It isn't hate when the data they're gathering is from the users of the website and not anyone actually running the site. Also, the ACCC doesn't focus on these things in the first place. As quoted from their site:
"The ACCC promotes competition and fair trade in markets to benefit consumers, businesses, and the community."
Competition and fair trade is what they focus on which relates to mainly company relations among each other, while UFC specializes in testing products and electronics which fits the bill on this topic of discussion. ACCC can very well do so as well (mainly for digital media might I add) but the entire purpose of the UFC is related to this so of course their expertise regarding this makes them ones to bring more awareness to it. They both serve different purposes so the ACCC does not prove anything is over exaggerated.
Also. It is widespread. IGN did a poll on this as well and they reported around 48% of the people taking the poll have had drift issues which I would very well consider widespread.
And as I mentioned in an above comment, another lawsuit has been taking place regarding the same issue and is currently still in arbitration. Nintendo actually tried to dismiss the case but were denied. Here's more info on that particular case.
Also...Nintendo is repairing these drifting joycons for free whether in warranty or not. Doesn't that indicate that Nintendo is aware of the issue and a lot of people are having this problem? If it wasn't a widespread issue, they wouldn't be doing these repairs for free.
And to say this isn't a widespread while ignoring the evidence saying otherwise by calling it "Hate on Nintendo" and then failing to provide your own evidence is complete ignorance on your part. Multiple sources confirm the severity of the issue and you dismiss it in attempts to defend this?
@SwitchForce The first point isn't an anecdote. In fact, UFC did that very method of data gathering again this year and used those statistics for their points. There's a clear difference between an anecdote and gathering data from thousands of people. And the last one had actual data and proof from the person who posted the Reddit with pictures showing the claim had been settled. The second point I made hasn't received judgement yet but it is a valid case.
It's this one, which was last updated in March of this year where Nintendo requested the case be dismissed but the judge rejected it. The case is being handled in arbitration right now but a decision has to be made 14 days after the final outcome is settled amongst the two parties or by December 31st, 2020 whichever comes first. So yes, it is indeed a class action lawsuit and is absolutely valid for that it is still ongoing and is something Nintendo hasn't been able to dismiss. And since you're one to thrive off of documentation, you'll be happy to see that my above post holds the link to the entire 100 page document to this very class-action lawsuit so there really is no need to be skeptical of my evidence
@SwitchForce You must have disregarded my last comment then or left it alone realizing I had grounds to my arguments. https://www.quechoisir.org/formulaire-appel-a-temoignages-nintendo-switch-et-joy-cons-n72507/
This was back in May of 2019 when they were gathering testimonials for another case even before this year's lawsuit. This shows how they would gather the data in the first place.
I'm piling source after source after source of valid and relevant information that further proves the majority view on this issue in that Nintendo JoyCons are a faulty product and need to be fixed. For someone that loves Nintendo like yourself, I think it would be in your best interest to realize that the steps being taken to address this issue among the fanbase are in hopes for more people to enjoy their favorite Nintendo games, instead of dealing with extremely common issues with drifting that can ultimately ruin their gaming experiences. Shouldn't one who promotes Nintendo games also be one to encourage this plan of action so that more gamers can enjoy the magic of these games more adequately in the first place?
@SwitchForce The documentation is that of the gathering of user testimonials. As quoted, "Our association has also launched a call for testimonials from users of the Switch console in order to be able to collect as much information as possible about the conditions under which these "ghost movements" appear."
This source will give more information. Listen, My past comments have been that of evidence and quotes while yours is nothing but skepticism and means to defending your side. My side has evidence. Players have been testifying their issue with drift. UFC known for analyzing defective products gathered the data from these users and identified it to be almost always related to joy con drift issues.
@SwitchForce As quoted from the article:
"...the UFC-Que Choisir commissioned an investigation into several defective controllers, more or less recent, in order to analyze the origin of this failure."
" Indeed, in all the samples analysed, the experts are unanimous. Two causes are (more than likely) the cause of the outage:
-Premature wear and tear on the circuit boards
-a waterproofing defect that causes a disturbing amount of debris and dust within the joystick, the origin of which appears to be both internal and external."
@SwitchForce To respond to your point, they don't fix the car for free unless it's under warranty or if it's in the case of an oil change or routine check in which case is something that is on me to do and not the manufacturer. It's not a widespread issue and is usually in the fault of the consumer or is what is expected when using a car. Joycons are being fixed even when they aren't under warranty for free if they are experiencing drift because it's a widespread issue that is affecting many gamers and is related to an issue that should almost never be on the consumer to have to address.
@FantasiaWHT It absolutely does. Nintendo fixing them for free due to how many people are experiencing the issue illustrates the point. They fix it for free because they know it's a faulty product that a lot of people are experiencing issues with. Like I mentioned when I go to the hospital for an illness and they cure me for free but only temporarily to where I have to go back the to same hospital for the same illness only to receive the same temporary treatment. You sue because nothing is actually being done or addressed to actually fix their faulty product. It's one thing to say I'll sue because I don't like joycons. But it's another thing to say I'll sue because this is a defective product that was advertised as perfectly fine to millions of gamers.
@FantasiaWHT Not just one person, millions of players are experiencing this issue with multiple pairs of their joycons! Gamers have the expectation that their BRAND NEW controllers should last them at least the lifespan of the console itself. The fact these these joycons are breaking MONTHS later makes it unacceptable. Like if I went to the hospital for a bad illness and they said they'd fix me up for free. Then 4 months later, I get the same illness and they fix me up for free again using the same method as last time, and the cycle continues. Then I sue for malpractice. The company sueing them gathered over 5000 testimonies in just 2 days announcing that 65% of those cases showed malfunction in the first two years and 25% showed drift in the first SIX MONTHS!
@FantasiaWHT Yes products can wear out over time but joy cons wear out much easier than other controllers not only today but compared to Nintendo’s past controllers. Hard not to buy joy cons when it’s a main method of how you play Switch games. As comments say, some have had 3 pairs and all of them are drifting. These products are faulty and need to be fixed.
@Edu23XWiiU That wasn't as widespread as this issue with joycons. That's like if you got in trouble by a teacher and you try to remind your teacher "Well he did it too!" and point fingers at another student. It doesn't make you any less accountable for your own actions. Countless players are having drifting problems and Nintendo needs to be held accountable.
@Ghostchip Well yeah the game has been out for over 20 years and was one of the first of its kind for 3D platformers! It can definitely be seen as outdated in today's standards. I think the reason why so many people love it so much though other than Nostalgia Factor, is the fact that it is pure simple 3D platforming. Sunshine and Galaxy 1/2 are great titles and have become much more advanced when it comes to the genre. People love that, but some people also miss the days when it was just simple fun. No gimmicks, just the foundation of what made Mario special. I think that's also why so many people like Odyssey and mark it to be their favorite. Because it feels like a direct sequel to Mario 64 more so than Sunshine and Galaxy 1/2. That's just my take on it!
Here is my Sonic 06 review. Ignore the bugs, convoluted story, Mach speed sections, long loading screens, annoying side missions, horrible controls, awful camera, lack of speed, broken puzzles, and you’ve got one of the best Sonic games out there!
@KingBowser86 Well BotW was 2017's game of the year and has a 97 on Metacritic. So clearly a large majority of gamers don't think of the game as "cringe".
Spawnwave made a good theory regarding it. He said they may be treating Galaxy 2 like a Wii U port and giving it the deluxe treatment and then releasing it as a separate game. It could be plausible.
I was just going through the playlist of songs in Super Smash Bros Ultimate and it made me realize that Nintendo could easily make a rhythm game out of their catalog. I think if Nintendo made a fun and expansive rhythm game comprised of their Nintendo Franchises, I have no doubt in the the world that it would be well received. Like a Theatrhythm Nintendo Legacy or a new concept. Please Nintendo!
So sad to see all of these negative comments regarding this game. I find it to be a fantastic title that has exhilarating gameplay and mechanics that really make you feel connected to the music while also giving a great sense of speed. The environments as well are also stunning, especially the city level. The first time I encountered a section that showed the whole city leading all the way out into the distance, my jaw dropped! Plus a portion of the game royalties will go to "The Tim Bergling Foundation" which is helping to recognize suicide as a global health emergency and removing the stigma regarding mental health issues. I hope some of you will give the game a chance when it releases for Switch! It was a great experience for me and it is for a great cause!
At least for 3ds I have many exclusives that Sony never had on the Vita, and I don't have to pay for an SD card when I pay money to get a system I kinda want to play.
@Kyloctopus Well all I'm saying is that she only has one picture with just a pro controller, you can buy a pro controller separately. I'm not saying that she doesn't have a wii u 100 percent but it's just kind of suspicious

Joycons are being fixed even when they aren't under warranty for free if they are experiencing drift because it's a widespread issue that is affecting many gamers and is related to an issue that should almost never be on the consumer to have to address.

Here is the source. It's in French so it may need translation. I'm not saying just words, I have the evidence that people clearly are having issues!
Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift
Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift
Re: Nintendo Is Getting Sued Yet Again Over Switch Joy-Con Drift
@FantasiaWHT Yes products can wear out over time but joy cons wear out much easier than other controllers not only today but compared to Nintendo’s past controllers. Hard not to buy joy cons when it’s a main method of how you play Switch games. As comments say, some have had 3 pairs and all of them are drifting. These products are faulty and need to be fixed.
Re: Switch Owner Claims To Have Taken Nintendo To Court Over Joy-Con Drift, And Won
@Edu23XWiiU All I want is for them to fix their faulty controller which judging by this lawsuit and alleged Switch Pro, they will! Consumers win! ☺
Re: Rumour: Advert Suggests Smash Ultimate's Next DLC Fighter Could Be Revealed By Early October
Sora from Kingdom Hearts!!!
Re: Switch Owner Claims To Have Taken Nintendo To Court Over Joy-Con Drift, And Won
@Edu23XWiiU No need to! Someone already has and now maybe Nintendo will do something about it! ☺
Re: Switch Owner Claims To Have Taken Nintendo To Court Over Joy-Con Drift, And Won
@Edu23XWiiU https://www.pcworld.com/article/152463/xbox_360_lawsuit.html
There were lawsuits! Like I said, that was an issue then. That doesn't excuse Nintendo for their actions now!
Re: Random: Super Mario 3D All-Stars' Cartridge Is Rubbing People Up The Wrong Way
Don’t judge a game by its cartridge!
Re: Switch Owner Claims To Have Taken Nintendo To Court Over Joy-Con Drift, And Won
Re: Poll: What's The Best 3D Mario Game?
Re: Random: Can You Hear That? Sounds Like Super Mario Galaxy 2 Music In 3D All-Stars
@Switcheroot Aren't choosing not to and refusing the same thing? I refuse to eat my vegetables is the same as I choose not to eat my vegetables!
Re: Review: NBA 2K21 - Ignore The Microtransactions And You've Got The Best Basketball Game On Switch
Here is my Sonic 06 review. Ignore the bugs, convoluted story, Mach speed sections, long loading screens, annoying side missions, horrible controls, awful camera, lack of speed, broken puzzles, and you’ve got one of the best Sonic games out there!
Re: Nintendo Reveals Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, A New Zelda Set 100 Years Before Breath Of The Wild
@KingBowser86 Well BotW was 2017's game of the year and has a 97 on Metacritic. So clearly a large majority of gamers don't think of the game as "cringe".
Re: Feature: So, What Happened To Super Mario Galaxy 2?
Spawnwave made a good theory regarding it. He said they may be treating Galaxy 2 like a Wii U port and giving it the deluxe treatment and then releasing it as a separate game. It could be plausible.

It is the most downloaded game. Sony themselves have said it.
Re: Kingdom Hearts: Melody Of Memory Brings An Exclusive Mode To Switch This November
Re: AVICII Invector Encore Edition Launches On Switch In September, Free Demo Announced
Re: All Theatrhythm Dragon Quest DLC Set to be Free
Cool..I want this game now
Re: Series Producer Ichiro Hazama Says Theatrhythm Dragon Quest Will Have About 60 tracks
There needs to be a Thetrhythm game on Nintendo music that would be awesome!

Re: Poll: Are You An Early Adopter With The New Nintendo 3DS?
Wait, why exactly are we getting only the XL version?
Re: Famitsu Article Reportedly Inks Out More Splatoon Details
But when there's a multiplayer game that does allow VC, it says "Online interaction not rated by the ESRB." And no CPUS is a huge let down.
Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2015
I can't wait for Gunman Clive 2, the first one was amazing!
Re: Review: Meme Run (Wii U eShop)
So "Meme Run" has 7 letters, subtract 5 because of the price and add 1 for the verdict score which gets you 3...Half Life 3 confirmed!
Re: Sony: PS Vita Is Better Than 3DS And The Wii Brand Is A "Shadow Of Its Former Self"
At least for 3ds I have many exclusives that Sony never had on the Vita, and I don't have to pay for an SD card when I pay money to get a system I kinda want to play.
Re: Another Minecraft Clone, Cube Creator 3D Coming To 3DS eShop
Great now the Nintendo E-shop is becoming the app and Google play store...
Re: Miley Cyrus Confuses Fans by Owning a Wii U
@Kyloctopus Well all I'm saying is that she only has one picture with just a pro controller, you can buy a pro controller separately. I'm not saying that she doesn't have a wii u 100 percent but it's just kind of suspicious
Re: Miley Cyrus Confuses Fans by Owning a Wii U
She probably doesn't have a Wii u and instead bought a pro controller to "troll" everyone cuz thats what teens do these days...
Re: Turns Out The GameCube Controller Adapter Won't Be Compatible With Other Wii U Software
I might switch to Sony.
Re: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Begins North American Adventure on 5th December
There needs to be a Wii u bundle with Super Mario 3d World and this game.
Re: We'd Be Cheating Fans By Bringing Assassin's Creed Unity To Wii U, Says Ubisoft
It's funny Ubisoft cause you're cheating AC fans by NOT releasing the game on the Wii u.
