We've had a few arcade-style, comedy-based football games making an appearance over the last few months, and this latest title offers up a particularly quirky cast of characters and kickabout chaos.
Described as a fast-paced football game with no referee and no rules, Circle of Football has you competing against your friends to become the champion of this slightly surreal take on the beautiful game. You can compete in either online or local multiplayer, battling it out on bizarre pitches with even bizarre-er-er characters.

Make sure to give the trailer above a watch, and check out this feature list below:
- 8 different characters: Goats, frogs, and even a robot!
- 10 unlikely soccer fields: Have you ever played soccer in a factory, an airport, or in a house? Maybe in the last one, but we implemented 100% ball-proof windows, no screaming parents this time!
- You can play 1vs1 or 2vs2 matches with your friends or with kind strangers from outer space!
- Climb the leaderboards competing online against players from all over the world or just chill with your friends in friendly matches with the local multiplayer!
It's currently being developed by Italian developer, Fantastico Studio, and is planned to launch on Switch this Autumn. It'll so be hitting Steam in Early Access "soon" if you fancy an early look.
What do you think? One to keep an eye on? If you're looking for more of those recent quirky football games we mentioned, make sure to also check out the likes of Behold The Kickmen, Offside Legends, Street Power Football and Super Soccer Blast.

But why tho? This looks like a parody. If this is actually a good game, you can laugh at me for this comment, but for now, this looks bad.
Well...sometimes you gotta just throw something against the wall and see if it sticks.
This looks awful.
Getting flashbacks to Madmen Football
I'm not into sports games but this looks fun!
Does anyone else remember, years ago, some indie dev was making a football game “with no rules” featuring historical figures for characters? He made a big deal about posting concept art that wound up literally just being clip art that he treated like a masterpiece. What ever happened to that?
Looks bad, even for a football game.
This looks atrocious. If it costs more than 99p then the price point is way too high.
looks like World Cup Italia 90 on the Mega Drive
Looks like a terrible soccer game...
@Discipledoctor Yeah I remember that too. It just vanished.
Circle of Sumo is a nice game. I'm curious to know more
The fact that this is showing up as news is pretty pathetic as the other sites are covering next year generation systems being launched.
Funny thing is, I've just been interested in a football game for the first time since the last Mario one. Unless you count Rayman Legends' Kung Foot mode or whatever it was called. It was a blast. The game I'm interested in is called "Behold the Kickmen".
What got my interest is the obvious lack of interest in football the creator has. It's weird how a shared disinterest in a sport can make one person make a game about it and put another on the fence of buying it.
Red Card on GameCube was incredible. Really sad Midway died.
The fat guys are cute, I love chubby men
@sixrings The PS4 and Xbox One are each over six and a half years old; The Switch is just over three years old.
Either way, though, you're being a senseless troll.
Looks crap tbh
@sixrings I'm sure "next year generation systems" sounded a whole lot more knowledgeable and authoritative in your head. To us it just sounds like a failed attack to mask bombastic trolling.
reminds me of a game I sank way too much time into back in the SNES days..... bill lambeers combat Basketball. awful game but i loved it haha
@sixrings You mean there's new consoles coming out? Where? Do they have graphics?
@__jamiie What makes it look bad? I think it looks very cool and promising.
