Lol almost every game is a "rip off" of some other game. I say games are just a cheap rip off of real life. Ive seen Italian plumbers kicking turtles into huge mushrooms my entire life, it's practically an everyday thing where im from.
As usual I'm a bit late to the party. 3ds is my favorite all time console, I have an enormous collection of games and 3 diff 3ds models but somehow, embarrassingly I overlooked SMTIV and SMTIVA. The last SMT I played was the remastered soul hackers and i absolutely loved it. I always meant to return to the rest of the series but never did until now. This is now 2020 and I own a switch but SMTIVA is the best game I've played in YEARS. It's a technical marvel on par with "RE: revelations" in terms of jaw dropping presentation that looks more than a step above the other 3ds titles. Virtually no load times, no drop in framerate, no glitch or hiccups of any sort, this is the definition of a polished game. Every area is a treat to explore and you are given freedom to move around on your own pace quite early on. If you want to recruit demons before next goal, well have at it. Want to grind for some $ for that new sword, go ahead. Demon recruiting is addictive and enjoyable from the first time to the 1000th time. Combat is perfect turn based goodness with deep new mechanics, you can learn your demons abilities, get app skills with level up points. It's pure gold. This is what video games are ALL about, you don't need 4k res, you don't need super processors or 600$ machines. You need only to find a developer who knows exactly what it's all about. I rarely if ever would give a game a perfect rating but this is as close as it gets to perfect. It's a must for any 3ds owner no matter what year it is or what the newest most powerful system is.
Oh no....idk if I can take much more of these wacky productions. Long as Claire isn't scaring children and spraining her ankle every 5 seconds I'll give this a chance.
Lol I'm old enough to know that EVERY game is an inspired decscendent of legend of Zelda (and not Zelda botw, it goes much further back). I just have to smile and move on at stuff like this. I remember reading a passionate series of posts about how Metroid Prime series was a rip-off of Halo....yes I'm serious, that really actually happened and was complete with laugh inducing screen shot comparisons of Federation troopers and Master chief. I'm not even gonna bother to explain why that is funny if you don't know already. Just gotta ignore and move on...life far to fragile and short for this lol.
Def looks interesting, but it's ALWAYS a gamble making any judgements this early. Is it a short intense game? A long parkour explorer with open-ish world or more linear? The actual combat and upgrade system is only hinted at so who knows. Looks quality though and that is great sign. I'll keep eye out for more info for sure
@Burntbreadman I actually thought the opposite until I watched it again on bigger screen and looked much better there. It looks about right for a top switch game. I think the graphic/art style of "not quite realistic but sort of" really helps clean up any short comings.
Good God, now this is a thorough, informative, and fair review. It's a rare thing nowadays, seriously well done. Explaining a game like this is not easy but you actually did it well enough that I knew what I was looking at when I went to gameplay videos.
@locky-mavo Play sonic colours from the Wii, it's nothing like the horrors of the other sonic 3d games. It made me love sonic again after years of mediocre disapointment
Sonic Colours is BY FAR number one imo. It single handedly renewed my love for Sonic and made me forget all about the horrors of mediocrity that came before. That game got everything right, visuals, audio both music/sfx and voices, level design, controls, new additions in form of the "colour" powerups wisps. I still get all worked up talking about it to this day lol. It really changed my entire way of thinking about 3d sonic games and raised that bar waaaay up
I remember stumbling on MH stories, I'd played EVERY MH game prior and had somehow overlooked it. I didn't have my phone w me and grabbed it up from GameStop half expecting a bizarre "big head" cartoony lame spinoff... Boy was I wrong lol. It ending up surprising me so much I took off of work that day just to stay home and play it. It's obviously not like a normal MH game, but nor is it like any other turn based rpg either. It has pokemon-ish elements but the battle system and format is much different, simple yet deep and clever. You also fight right there alongside your monsters. monster Hunter games always had spectacular visuals and stories is no different, it has a completely different cel shaded cartoon style that works so well and the entire game, overworld, towns, battles all look so good. I LOVE the idea of another entry in this series.
Nice and fair review, that's as much a rarity as a giraffe game...well done. I love games that aren't afraid to be VERY different. I could def see giving this one a chance under the right circumstances.
This is truly great imo. I've loooong said it's a shame they don't reuse these game engines more often. This is a wonderful example of how to do it right. Another good one was when Capcom pulled off the impossible with " resident evil: revelations" on the 3ds by using a stripped down RE:5 engine. By doing so early on in the 3ds lifespan it raised the bar immensely at what was thought of as possible. Up to that point it was deemed impossible for something like RE: revelations to exist on 3ds hardware. Nice going on this Capcom! Show others how to do this stuff right.
They should just go full circle and start back at the begining. Start manufacturing NES and original green screen wonder GAMEBOY, then make new games! Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...but it's NEW!
This game looks like a better fit on 3ds than switch, wonder why not the small effort to upload to 3ds eShop as well. It does still exist and still is welcoming new games atm. As for Zelda on a phone, please no. My phone is for phoning and watever this is I'm doing now. It gets tossed around, crammed in all sorts of pockets with sharp n scratchy objects. It gets drinks spilled on it, dropped repeatedly and all else. My switch and 3ds however are for gaming and they are Revered as such. I would never risk my hard earned save files on my phone, nor am I interested in the opposite of using my gaming devices for portable communication.
For some reason this article not only made me not feel better about MP4 development, it actually made me more uneasy. Metroid prime 3 was good, very good, was it really so long ago? Have they lost whatever "it" was that allowed them to make these timeless classics? Metroid prime games are not similar to any other game and imo was a genre in itself. Mentioning call of duty is generally not going to put any MP fan at ease...I really hope they find their way no matter how long it takes. We forgive you for the big head weirdness of MP:federation force if that helps 🙃
I have similar questions on Metroid prime trilogy and Metroid prime 4 on switch. I'm somebody who absolutely loved the Wii remote controls for Metroid prime trilogy and prime 3 on Wii. It was shining example of what Wii should have been like. (Red Steel 2 is also an exceptional example). I often wonder what will Metroid prime be like without a Wii remote? Joy cons can manage some motion aiming, but what about docked and undocked with pro controller. It will most likely be SOME time before we get real answers to these questions. But for Mario galaxy...anyone who's played it extensively knows it could easily be adapted to non Wii remote play. There's any number of ways they could do it, no need to worry, it'll be fine and nonackward I predict. A better question...why no "Mario galaxy 2"? It was nearly the same game but with higher difficulty level. It's just weird that it's not in the collection.
While the response and the change was probly correct thing to do THIS time. It does worry me that ppl can't handle being offended anymore. Being offensive and being offended by something is part of the freedom that ppl risk life and death for everyday. I don't care for this odd new public RULE about walking on eggshells all the time and being careful not to offend anyone ever at any time no matter how miniscule or no matter the actual original intention. In this example it was a wheelchair bound character, but who is to say that this particular character didn't really feel this way? Changing it probly was for the best, but watering down "disabled" characters to all having the same personality or viewpoint is arguably worse than offending somebody irl that disagrees with a character. Just because they share characteristic of being wheelchair bound doesn't mean they have anymore relation to that character than someone who shares other attributes with a character. I'm not being funny, if I offended anyone in my rambler comment I really do apologize. This stuff up is just very worrying to me and seems to snowball and is getting more and more ridiculous as more of our culture is altered by political correctness or watever is behind this.
Why are they removing until it's fixed if it's only the multiplayer aspect tht isn't working? That makes no sense right? Why do big companies make nonsensical decisions like this? You send out a public statement declaring the glitch/problem, then you patch it out with an update...like a normal game developer would do. Am I missing something here? Who would be angrier, someone who buys it and discovers they will have to wait few weeks for an update to fix multiplayer, OR somebody who goes to buy it and finds its been removed temporarily, meaning some ppl still have it and can enjoy single player but you can't. I really must be missing something here.
This review is actually fair and unbiased well done. I've seen couple other reviews on this game that were far too harsh imo, and I even took a little heat for saying so. I'm VERY glad to see a reviewer really focus on the things that ACTUALLY MATTER in a game of this type. A reviewer that judged based on what it IS instead of what it isn't. And while the final score is only one point higher, this review is much more trustworthy and informative. Sad as it may be, a good game reviewer is super rare nowadays. So once again I say, WELL DONE
Hmm this game actually looks much better than I had assumed and review seemed fair, which is rare nowadays imo. I don't plan to buy it but I'd seen it countless times sitting in 3ds eShop and wondered how bad it was. Apparently it's not that bad. Good example of not always judging a game by it's cover
Overall....cool. Some ppl don't seem to like idea of the gollum game, but looks like a fresh, unique, NEW idea, and those are terms that LOTR games need imo. Also 👽......those that may know me know that I can't get thru a comment section without promoting my favorite game series that nobody has ever heard of 🙃 (well "soon to be" a series that is, there's only one current game out so far n it's on 3ds). There's new survival horror otw for Switch eShop that should be out before the end of this year. It's called "Silver Falls: Episode Watchtower" it's a over shoulder view survival horror with a very fresh unique story about alien abductions and mutated animals and a secluded mountain town seemingly frozen in time. The first game of this series was released in 2020 for "new" 3ds system, it's called "Silver Falls: 3 down stars" and its also an over shoulder view survival horror. If you havnt heard of it or have heard it's bad, it's because the launch version was an accidental broken version, and sadly it was the version that was reviewed....and horribly trashed. It has since been fixed, but those awful reviews and reputation still lurk ☹️. It's actually a very good game and a true act of shear will by a low resource ONE man indie studio. Check out "new" 3ds "silver falls: 3 down stars" (keep in mind the games demo AND most of the gameplay vids are from the broken version, look for version 1.2 or higher if you decide to check out some gameplay vids). Also check out "silver falls game" Twitter page to see some preview screen shots from the upcoming switch game "Silver Falls: episode watchtower". It's quite visually stunning. Thank you if you actually read my rambling comment. 👉👽👈
Games like astral chain is part of the reason why Nintendo is still my favorite despite certain... disapointments. Such a great game and switch exclusive. I hope to see some other upcoming Nintendo exclusives get even a fraction of it's attention. Remember the name "Silver Falls", it just may pay off in a few months.
Hrmph...They could do those resident evils if they wanted to. Think back to early Nintendo 3ds, look at what Capcom was able to do with the original model 3ds with "resident evil: revelations". Until that game launched NOBODY thought something like that was possible on 3ds. They managed to get RE5 engine to run on 3ds and built an unbelievably good looking and impressive game that ran quite well. It was so good that it was ported to ps3. Can anyone ever remember something so fantastical as a Nintendo 3ds game being so impressive that they ported it to PlayStation? Lol. Capcom managed a true tech miracle making 3ds RE: revelations, if they could do it if they really wanted to put out the resources. Also COOL!! I love monster Hunter, I've played them all from MHtri and up and loved every one of them, including the crazy different but equally awesome MH:stories. I'd love me a switch MH, yes please
After seeing this game in the eShop for years and wondering about it I finally decided to get it after a friend with similar gaming tastes recommended it. I absolutely love it! It's great example of creativity overcoming software/hardware restrictions. I just got it yesterday and already have seen countless moments that made me smile with delight, hilarious dark jhokes, subtle (or not so subtle) references to classic timeless games ect. I'm utterly bewildered by the few negative comments, this game is CLEARLY not for everyone, but "binding of Isaac" doesn't pretend to be something it's not and a simple search of YouTube for video of gameplay should've been enough to deter the rare few that somehow just don't "GET" the games personality.
It's rare that I agree with 3ds game reviews (which tend to be severely over critical) but here is another great one that is fair and accurate, well done. I've probly commented here on this review before in the past but oh well ☺️. This is great game on a system like 3ds that is still starved to this day for games like metal gear or other shooters with semi realistic graphical style. It's such an underpowered console that devs just skip it outright instead of trying to see what is or isn't possible. The sad result is that there r only a handful of "attempts" at this and even less actually pulled it off. (IMO metal gear solid snake eater, RE: revelations, RE mercs 3d, and a mostly unknown eShop exclusive "silver falls: 3 down stars" are the only ones to pull it off with range of GREAT to decent) . The outdoor environments are superb on metal gear solid snake eater, they look amazing even under close scrutiny when crawling around. The areas feel huge but are tiny in reality. The ONLY complaint that one can make stick to this game is the framerate issues which are extreme at certain times. At the worst times the automatic guns feel like they are half jammed with how sporadic and uneven they fire. Imo it's a small price to pay for such wonderful 3ds experience. Another must have/play for any serious 3ds owner
Tales of Symphonia completely blew me away when I first discovered it. Sometimes I would sit and just listen to the music in watever that early desert town was called. Tales of the abyss is very much worthy of sharing the "Tales" name. It's bit short compared to the others, lol but still comes in at 17 hours or so, and that is if you plow right thru. I went at my usual pace and clocked first time thru at over 40 hours. There is plenty to enjoy here and fun hidden secrets aren't as abundant as I'd like but they do exist. Voice acting is not bad at all and there is alot of it. The little meui thing is annoying but cute enough and apparently a deadly menace to his own ppl lol. Story and characters are high quality, skills and exp system is mostly traditional and works well w o much confusion, esp if you have played any tales game before. The battle system is it's shining glory, I absolutely love this battle system, once u get couple hours in you get "free roam" and "manual" battle option. Switch to that and much fun awaits. Each char is fully playable and unlike some tales games...they are ALL fun to use under player control! It's rare that I agree with a review so much (esp 3ds game reviews which tend to be overly critical), this game is truly a must have/play for any serious 3ds owner.
I like this very much 👍. While I did absolutely LOVE the first Resident Evil revelations, it was best on 3ds and Switch is lacking the big RE releases, Tormented souls is exactly what Nintendo needs! There's another NEW survival horror for Switch too that will actually arrive before the end of this year to help us along for the tormented souls wait. Keep watch for "Silver Falls: episode watchtower" in Switch eShop n a month or two, ive been keeping close eye on their twitter page and the screen shots look freaking amazing. It's outdoor environments and has mutated animals n aliens as the horror theme but still gonna be damn cool.
Minecraft as the 3d block world type. Terraria as the side scrolling type. Forager as the top down type. It's a perfect fit for the genre lol. Well done
This is yet another review from this site that is IMO not accurate or very fair. Thiis is a 3ds indie game that cost only few $, that part is very important to keep in mind. First thing to address is graphics. Does this game have BAD graphics? No, it has SIMPLE graphics, but why is that, couldnt a dev in this day and age do better? The answer is NO. CONTEXT is so important here, this game map is HUGE and it loads once at the start and the whole thing is there to explore after that with zero load interuptions, a map size like this is UNHEARD OF on a 3ds game. The draw distance (how far you can see objects and enemies) is very very good, there is no "pop in" or "turok 64 fog". People and reviewers are so fixated on things that don't even matter that they fail to see the impressive feats that alot of these indie games are full of. Ther r plenty of legitimate problems with this game. So what are they? Let's start with enemies. The zombies are far too fast and don't even drop items when killed, but if you are stocked up with supplies the combat can be quite enjoyable. You can see the zombiea from very very far away and their eyes even glow at night. Early in the game it's not very difficult to sneak by them or even crawl by them if needed. Ther r plenty of zombies roaming around, but they never seem to "swarm" or gather in groups which is unfortunate cause it wldve upped the tension alot. There are too many systems. Food and drink, temperature, health, all of which require diff things, they actually end up taking away from the experience significantly instead of adding anything and come across as tedious. I liked the idea of the "phone" as flashlight and gps map but it drains FAR TOO QUICKLY and even drains when not in use at all. Overall this game is too ambitious for its own good, but there is alot to have fun with here and for just a few dollars it's well worth it even for just a single player experience. It is genuinely sad and shocking to me that gamers are starting to lose sight of what makes games good and fun to play. Hint: it's not the graphics or production values. Bottom line: this game is not great...but it's nowhere near the pathetic low score shown by this review. (See "fatal fracture" as an example of an actual BAD indie game". ICE station Z is easily a 5/10 or even a bit more if you have cpl friends to play the multiplayer mode with.
Imo Switch shouldn't be replaced anytime soon. I very much dislike how quickly ppl are ready to kick a console/system to the curb and get the "new" "better" ones. IMO it always seems like game developers never even get close to maxing out the potential on these systems before another system comes along to replace it. There has been a few examples, mostly 3ds and DS that held on for impressive amount of time with many games that truly did max the potential of the systems. DONT do it Nintendo, just because Sony and Microsoft are bringing shiny new consoles doesn't make the Switch any less great. Nintendo has always chosen to take alternate paths in the console wars with great success (most of the time...wiiU) . A time for Switch replacement will come, but that time is not the immediate future.
Super Mario galaxy was an amazing game at the time and it still is today IMO. Maaany times I tried to get my (at the time) ps3 friends to take it seriously, so I can absolutely relate to this lol. Both Mario galaxy 1 and 2 were excellent and if anyone says it's too easy then that's when you give them Mario galaxy 2 which pretty much picks up on difficulty where the first one left off.
This review makes me laugh and feel old. Remember when games never told you how to do anything and part of the fun was figuring it out. Castlevania simon's quest NES with its nonsensical translations being your only clues. Those were the days...
What about 3ds? It's not quite dead yet. 2020 released "new" 3ds game "Silver Falls 3 down stars" is absolutely a hidden gem. The version 1.3 fixed the problems that it suffered during launch and I've been having lots of fun with it. It's indie game but is over shoulder resident evil style survival horror about ufos, mutated animals and a town frozen in time. It deserves much better than the treatment it's gotten
Aw they should release on switch and 3ds. There are still new games (esp ones that look like that) being added in 3ds eshop to this day. That type aesthetic in 3d looks very cool.
@StevenH Rofl. You wldnt be the first to ask that. Believe it or not, there are ppl who care about things, esp injustices whether they be in real world or gaming world. And what "Silver Falls: 3 down stars" has suffered was a grave gaming injustice. 3ds has almost no representation of survival horror except for resident evil revelations. When this game came out and I was excited, then appalled by the situation and then completely blown away by the approachability and honesty of the games developer. I've played the trashed broken version and all versions up to the newest from 3 days ago and I refuse to let such a great game be trashed by throwaway culture
Looking for a NEW game to play? What if I told you there is a "new" 3ds game that was released in 2020 that is an over the shoulder survival horror in the vein of resident evil but is all about ufos, aliens and a mountain town frozen in time. This game was been criminally underated and overlooked due to a mistakenly broken version being released then trashed by reviews. This game is now officially fixed and ready to be discovered. It's called "Silver Falls: 3 down stars", it's "new" 3ds model only and is made by an incredibly talented low resource one man indie studio. The information and reviews some of you may have seen online are old and incorrect. This is now one of the best 3ds games, period. There's no way I'd be pushing it this hard if it wasn't. It's overflowing with content with easily 50+ hours of gameplay and dozens of playable chars and 100s of weapons. This game is far too good to go unplayed, check it out if you have a "new" 3ds. If you liked resident evil revelations I can gurantee you will love this game. Thanks if you actually read this.
@SteveW you are correct. The only legit complaints are lack of alternate camera control options, meaning sensitivity/turn speed settings and option to put camera control on the abxy face buttons like a fake dual stick controls. That's it. The other complaints are goofy user error
Yet another review from Nintendo life I don't agree with. I'll start with what I do agree with. The controls are not ideal. I love a good touchscreen stylus shooter, but this game would've benefited from option to change to fake dual stick control for camera (setting camera to the abxy face buttons). The frame rate does indeed drop significantly during some intense moments and it's not as big of deal as the reviewer stressed but does give a very slight but annoying delay to the touch screen camera control. There also could've been a "sensitivity" option for camera as well, the turning speed is bit slow. That's it for what I agree with. This game is fun, im on 6th stage and I've not experienced any cheap deaths or overly stupid NPCs. Early on in the game it should "click" with you how the game works and once this happens you won't have goofy problems like the reviewer describes. This game is NOT a particularly easy game either, you are guided with waypoints and suggestions but doing things your own way generally works well here. Could the game have been better? Absolutely. But 3/10 is outrageous and seriously makes me question their judgement objectivity. You cannot judge every game on the same scale. This is a 10$ game at full price, it's a pretty old game, releasing originally on Wii I believe, it's a fire fighting game that tries to be semi realistic while remaining family friendly. This game is easily 5/10, and is esp worth it if you pick it up on a sale price like I did. I got it honestly expecting it to be hilariously terrible as this review suggested, I was quite surprised when it turned out to be pretty fun and very unique. DONT make decisions based on reviews, don't make decisions based on what random comments say either. Always have open mind and trust YOURSELF and you will have alot more fun in life.
I have unique perspective on this ridiculously old subject matter. I've played every single wobbly tooth procedural generated games and both types of "cube creator" and Minecraft 3ds. First off it's unbelievable nobody gives wobbly tooth any credit for puling off procedural generated on original 3ds hardware. They milked their achievement with 3 diff Minecraft clone games each with a gimmick but only few dollars each. Oddly imo the first one which is "battleminer" is the best. Unless you wish to risk confusion stop here. It has one texture choice and it's decently high res textures. Both their other entries lack anything resembling high res textures, "the magic hammer" (a weird super simplified rpg-ish take on Minecraft clone) has no texture at all...just flat color blocks. Battleminer also has challenging enemies that actually fight back other than just walking at you. The ants are nasty and you really have to dodge their incoming projectiles and shoot back and it is actually decent fun for short while. All 3 are slim with crafting and building materials but still original first "battleminer" is the best just due to much higher res textures, you can make great looking creations easily. Avoid magic hammer it's just ridiculous, but the "battleminer Z" game is very similar to battleminer but with Zs instead of ants. Zombies are the only enemies n this blurry texture version of battleminer. The survival mode is much worse imo, HOWEVER there is a "horde" mode on battleminerZ which is a zombie wave mode not unlock call of duty if it were made by Lego. It's seriously good fun albeit a bit silly and bit glitchy if you stray from what the game expects you to do in this mode. If you venture too far from the start area in horde mode your gonna have a bad time, if you try to select bizarre looking ghost items in your inventory that just appear with -negative numbers the game freezes. But if you just shoot and have fun raiding scattered chests you'll have a great time. Depending on what you would want the original battleminer is the best for fun Minecraft clone on original 3ds hardware, but BattleminerZ has horde mode that retains is fun far beyond the time when you tire of fake minecraft.
That is genuinely good news and that means ALL Nintendo staff should be returning shortly. Even the one(s) that may do updates for the games in the Americas 3ds eShop.
3ds game in 2020! Oh wait I've been relentlessly going on and on about another 2020 released 3ds game for 4 months now. Where's it's positive article? "New" 3ds "silver falls: 3 down stars". A "mishap" or something occured and the released version was horribly broken and resulted in VERY unfair reviews that trashed it's reputation before it had a chance. Many months later the European version is 1.3 and is nearly perfect(nearly, all content and full game is there and playable just fine). But Nintendo of America has yet to release 1.3 due to Corona virus delays😫. But version 1.2 is still available in the Americas and it's highly playable and fun as intended. Go to YouTube and watch gameplay of VERSION 1.2.. Make sure it's version 1.2 video and take a look at a fully realized survival horror about ufos and mutated animals in a small mountain town frozen in time. In in the vein of silent Hill or more accuratwly an over the shoulder resident evil type. It's made by a one man low budget indie studio, that's all the context neccessary....enjoy
This review was decent, but seems to have left out a control element, and after reading some of the comments it became even more clear. Yes the R and L buttons rotate your direction of fire, but you can QUICK TURN by pressing both R and L at same time, this eliminates any "slow" aiming complaints you can change direction rapidly at any time and there's no "lag" when u do it. Yes it is still clunky feeling at first but you do quickly master it and the "quick turn" mechanic is essential, I cldnt imagine trying to play without using it
And I'm still waiting for update 1.3 for 2020 released "new" 3ds "silver falls: 3 down stars". The update has been out for a month in Europe but Nintendo of America still has not processed and released a simple update.
On sale for less than a 1$ in 2020, is this game worth it? Absolutely yes. I was very surprised how solid this game is. The review is correct that the gameplay really doesn't stray far from where it starts. But luckily it starts with a solid formula for a fun game. The chopper controls are fluid and simple, combat is fun and has the feel of SNES game I can't quite remember the name of. Even at full price of just few dollars this game is IMO a shining example of what lower budget games from the eShop should be. Solid gameplay premise, generous amount of content/game length. Good enough visuals to tell what everything is. Well done. Imo it shld be rated bit higher, nowadays you can't really judge every game on the same scale. You have to "adjust" for context. This game nailed the concept/era genre it was aiming for and really only loses some points with me due to context correct complaints, the fuel gauge was a hindrance to the level designers, as they were forced to put dropoff/refill points in spots that strategically make no sense (the enemy forces could've just shot the drop off point base/fuel refill spots). Game would've been better w o the fuel element. And as mentioned in above review music cldve bn better and no voice acting wldve been better than the outrageous "thanks for the ride" when drop hostages off lol. Def 7.5/10 tho
I found this title hiding in the deepest 3ds eShop corner. Looks like a poor man's kid Icarus uprising...which isn't a bad thing of course, but looks to lack the precision aiming element, but seems to make up for it with non set flight paths. Kid Icarus has "starfox" like flight and free roam ground sections, this rodea game instead combines the two. May give this a try if run out of other games before an update hits that I'm waiting (from here to eternity) for.
@Toy_Link First of all, thank you for actually reading that and thank you for asking. I intended to reminisce about my love for the 3ds but it took an angry turn pretty quick and instead of erasing it I just went with it. I'm glad I didn't erase it now. Ok be warned this is not a short story but I will try to make as short as possible. I was actually referring to an indie eShop game "Silver Falls: 3 down stars". It's a "silenthill/resident evil" over shoulder view survival horror about UFOs ,aliens and a small mountain town frozen in time. It was made by "sungrand studios", a very small one man low resource studio. Upon the games launch "something" (nobody knows for sure) happened and what was released was a bizarre broken version of the game. As you can imagine the developer was frantic and reviewers were already trashing it online. Instead of throwing up his hands and moving on. This dude started on updates to fix his game. During this time Nintendo did nothing to help, offered no explanations, and was extremely slow in processing and releasing the updates that were the ONLY chance of this game getting even a droplet of success. Game launched January and currently the game is nearly fixed. The work this one guy did to repair his game is unbelievable and the difference between current 1.2 and 1.0 is extreme. There is one last major glitch that prevents the start of the "ending credits" when the game is beaten. That glitch is also preventing access to 40+ hours of content in the "frontier fighters" mode (which is imo main draw of the game, it's like a wave mode or mercenaries/raid mode from resident evil Revelations). The update 1.3 that fixes that final major problem was submitted over month ago, it released in Europe weeks ago, but "Nintendo of America" jurisdiction not only has not released it but hasn't responded at all, not to daily inquiries from fans, not even to the games developer. I've been trying to help get this games reputation turned around because it's a good game and deserves so much better than the treatment it's gotten. Sorry was so long. Thank you if you read this far. Jason Jhomes.
Yes I am aware Corona virus could be delaying release, but I've watched countless Nintendo updates go thru, even on 3ds games and eShop games, but not "silver falls"

Re: Reports About Super Mario Bros. 35 Being A "Rip Off" Of Last Year's Fan-Made Battle Royale Simply "Not True"
Lol almost every game is a "rip off" of some other game. I say games are just a cheap rip off of real life. Ive seen Italian plumbers kicking turtles into huge mushrooms my entire life, it's practically an everyday thing where im from.
Re: Review: Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse (3DS)
Re: Capcom Reveals Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness - A New Netflix Series Arriving In 2021
Oh no....idk if I can take much more of these wacky productions. Long as Claire isn't scaring children and spraining her ankle every 5 seconds I'll give this a chance.
Re: Mini Review: Unrailed! - Take To The Tracks With Friends If At All Possible
Unique ideas like this are always interesting to me. It almost reminds me of a weird "lemmings" game but with a train instead.

How could you hate the future of communication. ❄️👉🐙👈🙊🤷♂️?
Re: Genshin Impact Dev Responds To Breath Of The Wild Clone Comments, Insists It's A "Very Different" Experience
Re: "AAA-Quality" Parkour Game Ghostrunner Is Looking Fantastic On Switch
Def looks interesting, but it's ALWAYS a gamble making any judgements this early. Is it a short intense game? A long parkour explorer with open-ish world or more linear? The actual combat and upgrade system is only hinted at so who knows. Looks quality though and that is great sign. I'll keep eye out for more info for sure
Re: "AAA-Quality" Parkour Game Ghostrunner Is Looking Fantastic On Switch
@Burntbreadman
I actually thought the opposite until I watched it again on bigger screen and looked much better there. It looks about right for a top switch game. I think the graphic/art style of "not quite realistic but sort of" really helps clean up any short comings.
Re: Review: Othercide - A Challenging But Ultimately Rewarding SRPG
Good God, now this is a thorough, informative, and fair review. It's a rare thing nowadays, seriously well done. Explaining a game like this is not easy but you actually did it well enough that I knew what I was looking at when I went to gameplay videos.
Re: Poll: What's The Best 3D Sonic Game?
@locky-mavo
Play sonic colours from the Wii, it's nothing like the horrors of the other sonic 3d games. It made me love sonic again after years of mediocre disapointment
Re: Poll: What's The Best 3D Sonic Game?
Sonic Colours is BY FAR number one imo. It single handedly renewed my love for Sonic and made me forget all about the horrors of mediocrity that came before. That game got everything right, visuals, audio both music/sfx and voices, level design, controls, new additions in form of the "colour" powerups wisps. I still get all worked up talking about it to this day lol. It really changed my entire way of thinking about 3d sonic games and raised that bar waaaay up
Re: Monster Hunter Stories Is The Best-Selling 3DS Game On Amazon Right Now
I remember stumbling on MH stories, I'd played EVERY MH game prior and had somehow overlooked it.
Re: Review: Giraffe And Annika - A Laid-Back Adventure That Might Be Too Chill For Some
Nice and fair review, that's as much a rarity as a giraffe game...well done. I love games that aren't afraid to be VERY different. I could def see giving this one a chance under the right circumstances.
Re: Yes, Monster Hunter Rise Is Running On Capcom's RE Engine
This is truly great imo. I've loooong said it's a shame they don't reuse these game engines more often. This is a wonderful example of how to do it right. Another good one was when Capcom pulled off the impossible with " resident evil: revelations" on the 3ds by using a stripped down RE:5 engine. By doing so early on in the 3ds lifespan it raised the bar immensely at what was thought of as possible. Up to that point it was deemed impossible for something like RE: revelations to exist on 3ds hardware. Nice going on this Capcom! Show others how to do this stuff right.
Re: Surprise! Nintendo Says Its Next Console Is Going To Be Very Much Like Its Other Consoles
They should just go full circle and start back at the begining. Start manufacturing NES and original green screen wonder GAMEBOY, then make new games! Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...but it's NEW!
Re: Review: Witcheye - A Fun Platformer That Sadly Can't Shake Off Its Smartphone Origins
Re: Retro Studios Hires Industry Veteran To Help Steer Metroid Prime 4 Development
Re: Nintendo Explains How Motion Controls Work In Super Mario Galaxy On Switch
Re: Thunder Lotus Apologises For Ableist Storyline In Spiritfarer, Pledges To "Correct The Mistake"
Re: Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remaster Pulled From Australia's Switch eShop
Re: Review: Windbound - A Surprisingly Chill Survival Epic That Owes A Debt To Zelda
Re: Review: Ascent of Kings (Wii U eShop)
Hmm this game actually looks much better than I had assumed and review seemed fair, which is rare nowadays imo. I don't plan to buy it but I'd seen it countless times sitting in 3ds eShop and wondered how bad it was. Apparently it's not that bad. Good example of not always judging a game by it's cover
Re: Round Up: All The Nintendo Switch Titles From The Future Games Show - August 2020
Re: Platinum Celebrates The First Anniversary Of Its Switch Exclusive Astral Chain
Re: Rumour: New Monster Hunter For Switch Will Be Revealed Soon, According To Capcom Insider
Re: Review: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (New 3DS)
Re: Review: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D (3DS)
Re: Review: Tales of the Abyss (3DS)
Re: Tormented Souls Brings "Classic Survival Horror Gameplay" To Switch In 2021
I like this very much 👍.
Re: Forager
Minecraft as the 3d block world type. Terraria as the side scrolling type.
Forager as the top down type.
It's a perfect fit for the genre lol. Well done
Re: Review: Ice Station Z (3DS eShop)
Re: What Comes After Switch? Nintendo Discusses Plans For Future Game Consoles
Also. Long live the Nintendo 3DS!
Re: Random: Brie Larson's Boyfriend Said She Was Taking Super Mario Galaxy Too Seriously, So She Threw Him Out
Super Mario galaxy was an amazing game at the time and it still is today IMO.
Re: Review: Demon's Tier+ - A Pacy Roguelite Which Comes Alive With Two Players
This review makes me laugh and feel old. Remember when games never told you how to do anything and part of the fun was figuring it out. Castlevania simon's quest NES with its nonsensical translations being your only clues. Those were the days...
Re: Community: Found A Real Gem On Switch eShop? We Want To Hear From You
What about 3ds? It's not quite dead yet. 2020 released "new" 3ds game "Silver Falls 3 down stars" is absolutely a hidden gem. The version 1.3 fixed the problems that it suffered during launch and I've been having lots of fun with it. It's indie game but is over shoulder resident evil style survival horror about ufos, mutated animals and a town frozen in time. It deserves much better than the treatment it's gotten
Re: Timothy And The Mysterious Forest Looks Like The Zelda: Link's Awakening Sequel We Never Got
Aw they should release on switch and 3ds. There are still new games (esp ones that look like that) being added in 3ds eshop to this day. That type aesthetic in 3d looks very cool.
Re: Talking Point: Six Burning Questions We'd Love Nintendo To Answer This Summer
@StevenH
And also I was aiming for an "ad" type feel, as nobody else is gonna tell you about this game.
Re: Talking Point: Six Burning Questions We'd Love Nintendo To Answer This Summer
@StevenH
Rofl.
Re: Talking Point: Six Burning Questions We'd Love Nintendo To Answer This Summer
Re: Review: Real Heroes Firefighter 3D (3DS)
@SteveW you are correct. The only legit complaints are lack of alternate camera control options, meaning sensitivity/turn speed settings and option to put camera control on the abxy face buttons like a fake dual stick controls. That's it. The other complaints are goofy user error
Re: Review: Real Heroes Firefighter 3D (3DS)
Re: Review: The Persistence - Firesprite's Likeable VR Horror Has Survived The Shift To Switch Perfectly
Nevertheless she persisted
Re: Review: Battleminer (3DS eShop)
Re: Slowly But Surely, Nintendo's North American Repair Centres Are Coming Back To Life
That is genuinely good news and that means ALL Nintendo staff should be returning shortly. Even the one(s) that may do updates for the games in the Americas 3ds eShop.
Re: Atooi Reconfirms Its 5-In-1 Nintendo 3DS Physical Collection Is Still On The Way
3ds game in 2020!
Re: Review: Undead Storm Nightmare (3DS eShop)
This review was decent, but seems to have left out a control element, and after reading some of the comments it became even more clear. Yes the R and L buttons rotate your direction of fire, but you can QUICK TURN by pressing both R and L at same time, this eliminates any "slow" aiming complaints you can change direction rapidly at any time and there's no "lag" when u do it. Yes it is still clunky feeling at first but you do quickly master it and the "quick turn" mechanic is essential, I cldnt imagine trying to play without using it
Re: Nintendo Download: 14th May (North America)
And I'm still waiting for update 1.3 for 2020 released "new" 3ds "silver falls: 3 down stars". The update has been out for a month in Europe but Nintendo of America still has not processed and released a simple update.
Re: Review: Strike Force Foxx (3DS eShop)
Re: Review: Rodea the Sky Soldier (3DS)
I found this title hiding in the deepest 3ds eShop corner. Looks like a poor man's kid Icarus uprising...which isn't a bad thing of course, but looks to lack the precision aiming element, but seems to make up for it with non set flight paths. Kid Icarus has "starfox" like flight and free roam ground sections, this rodea game instead combines the two. May give this a try if run out of other games before an update hits that I'm waiting (from here to eternity) for.
Re: 3DS Sales See 73% Year-On-Year Decline, No Future Sales Forecast Provided
@Toy_Link
First of all, thank you for actually reading that and thank you for asking.
