Re: Review: Fractured Soul (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

Very interested in picking this one up but been waiting and waiting to see it go on sale in my region. Longest I'd ever had to wait was for the excellent "RPG maker FES" to go on sale and it was WELL worth the wait to grab at sale price. But this fractured souls is like hunting the actual "predator" trying to get it on a sale price. It's literally been years. One of these days I will admit defeat and go to purchase it at full. Lol and either I will find the ESHOp no longer exists or that it goes on sale directly after I buy it. The universe has some jhoke planned I'm sure

Re: Review: Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword (3DSWare)

Jhomesjones

Very cool little game. I was very pleasantly surprised when I discovered this title lurking in the dark corner of the final pages of a single category in the 3ds eShop. This is not the first time I've found a gem placed far away from the store front window of the eShop, and believe me, I'm a FREQUENT shopper here. Idk if this game is quite a 8/10 or even "IGNs 9/10" score game , but in the context of it's low price and the context that it's 2020(21) and I thought I had seen and played every 3ds eShop game of merit...it def gets an 11/10 from me as a fantastic surprise

Re: Review: Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword (3DSWare)

Jhomesjones

@timothylamphear heh, 3ds eShop games are usually terribly underrated so it sorta evens out. What you call "a curve" I think is what I usually refer to as "context" in game reviews. Always gotta take in account the price, the developer (whether they have a real studio and budget or if it's a game created thru shear will and creativity), as well as the regular stuff you would judge any game on. I agree that 8/10 is bit high, imo it's quite good and was fun the whole way thru for me. The combat was genuinely enjoyable but that only gets it to a 6/10...possibly peaking at a 7 at times but never long enough to maintain such a rank. The 8 is a bit much, I absolutely agree on that but in the context of 2020(21) when I thought I had seen and played every game of merit on 3ds eShop....this was a wonderful surprise to find hidden away in far dark corner of the last pages of a single category. It doesn't even appear in the "games for a good price" category despite meeting the "under 9.99$" qualification.

Re: Feature: Remembering Super Mario 3D Land, 3D World’s Oft-Forgotten Predecessor

Jhomesjones

Great article. About @#&$ time this game gets a recent article and some more respect. All this nonsense about 3ds being dead and obsolete. Most have no idea what made it great to begin with, and it sure as @#$& wasn't animal crossing. 3ds even had an exclusive resident evil: revelations that was so good it was ported to PlayStation 3. When is the last time ANY Nintendo exclusive was ported to PS? All these great milestones forgotten. Glad somebody at nintendolife remembers what made the Switch possible to begin with

Re: Nintendo Appears To Be Pulling DSiWare Games From The 3DS eShop

Jhomesjones

@Fido007 hehe for certain consoles I absolutely plan to keep even after I'm dead. I have my original Gameboy and games from when I was a wee child. It still works perfectly and I still sometimes grab it instead of 3ds or switch to take with me to play during break times. I love how even to this day there is still NO BETTER console than old Gameboy to play outdoors or in a bright environment. Also I love 3ds so much that I will absolutely be keeping it forever. I have 3 of them and my game collection, both physical and digital is immense, I couldn't imagine not having it around, and since ol Nintenders isn't continuing the DS/3ds line I'm sure I'm not the only one who plans to keep theirs. Also a 3ds console saved my life once (no really, not jhoking) and I kinda feel obligated to return the favor. But that is a story for another comment section

Re: Review: Ice Station Z (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

Id forgotten I'd already commented. Oh well I'm back again but no need to repeat the far too lengthy post I already made. Just want to add that a new version of this on switch would be quite a good idea. This game got ALOT of things right but clearly ran into hardware limitations.

Re: Best Of 2020: Mario And Zelda Were Great, But GoldenEye Really Switched Me On To Nintendo

Jhomesjones

@doctorhino I'm not sure I understand what u mean exactly. I turned auto aim off on GoldenEye immediately and it was 1000x better. My friends thought I was cheating somehow because I was so good at aiming without autoaim. I would use C buttons strafing to line up target in the exact middle of the screen which was default "aim" spot during normal movement. With some practice it was incredible and the TIGHTEST control for "from the hip" shooting. It was such a joy to turn auto aim off. I can't imagine anyone seriously enjoying it without doing that.

Re: Best Of 2020: Mario And Zelda Were Great, But GoldenEye Really Switched Me On To Nintendo

Jhomesjones

Hehe. N64 was the biggest leap imo. The astonishment of Mario 64, Zelda oot, and of course GoldenEye was priceless. Countless hours of fun with GoldenEye, me and my bro, friends and other family would play and make our own custom rules and teams. We even made these custom CARDBOARD dividers so we couldn't see each other's part of the screen. We had one for 2 player, and 4 player. Such a wonderful time for gaming...and something that will never and CAN NEVER be replicated.

Re: Nintendo Collabs With Starlight To Roll Out Hospital-Safe Consoles Across America

Jhomesjones

Wonderful, this is a great story/article. I often say" I love the 3ds so much because it saved my life once". But I usually never elaborate and ppl think I'm just being silly or jhoking. But it's actually extremely true. At one point i had back spinal surgery and afterwards I developed a spinal fluid leak and spinal infection. This leads to massive migraine level headaches if you don't lay completely flat. I was on hospital for months and my sanity and my life by extension was saved by my newly acquired 3ds. It gave me quality games and a drastically needed distraction/escape from one of the worst times of my life. It made such a huge difference in my attitude/mood/well being and recovery that I will ALWAYS have a special appreciation for the 3ds. I can EASILY imagine the semi portable switch currently serving the exact same purpose for these patients. This article mostly focuses on children, but I highly recommend this for ANYONE bedbound or stuck in the hospital. It can literally save your life and that's no exaggeration. If you think that sounds bit dramatic I wish you knew me because I'm the least dramatic person in existence. Just look to the sales and popularity of Switch during pandemic quarinetine shutdowns. It's a very similar example. Whoever thought of this idea for these patients deserves much thanks.

Re: Review: RPG Maker Fes (3DS)

Jhomesjones

Terrific. I rarely would award something a 9/10 but this is def one of those situations. Only reason I wouldn't give a 10/10 is due to memory limits. You can make a relatively large game but it can def be an issue if your master plan is working perfectly until you realize it's not going to fit.
Ok that said....this is a fantastic game making tool. If you really, truly want to make something unique and great.. YOU CAN. I was shocked at how much detail you are expected to put into it. I wasn't expecting it to have so many options. It's nowhere near the user friendly ease of "Mario maker" tho, it doesn't really teach you, it expects you to figure it ALL out yourself, which is fine for me but I can understand it being a turn off for some, esp younger gamers, so it's for serious LONG haul gamers that want to take the time to create something great. I did a short simple game to learn and test everything before starting my REAL full size game. 20 hours or so in and having a blast. For the RIGHT person this will be one of the best 3ds experiences you've ever had....but for the wrong person it could be one of the most tedious frustrating 3ds experiences ever lol.

Re: Level-5 Boss Teases 2021 Announcement, Says He Loves Cyberpunk 2077

Jhomesjones

Did I read this correctly? It's because of the cost of translating the games? Really? That's ridiculous even if this was 20 years ago before the crazy tech we have now. I would rather have a poorly translated game than none at all, and I can gurantee that pretty much everyone agrees with that...so fix it LEVEL 5!
Lol remember old NES Castlevania Simon's quest translations? Hilarious and despite being impossible to decipher we loved and played them. Pre internet days. Yes this is irrelevant and just shows my age but I stand by whatever point I meant to make.

Re: Review: Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (3DS)

Jhomesjones

What a time travel experience this comment section was. Here today...the end of 2020 months after final model has been discontinued, no New 3ds games in stock anywhere and gamestops used 3ds/DS section is a picked dry graveyard of Hannah Montana games. Hard to believe something so grand is being so quickly forgotten and replaced by a joycon drifting fake portable
Well not by me...

Re: Review: Space Invaders Forever - One Great Game Does Not A Great Package Make

Jhomesjones

I do sort of agree. It's been done far too many times. I did enjoy "super destronaut", it had some unknown variable that made it seem enjoyable but was really just normal space invaders with powerups and enemies that shoot back. Those old OLD games like space invaders are difficult to remake in a modern or fresh way. It's a basic design that has been built upon for so long and evolved into the side scrolling shooters like gradius ECT that it never really left us. So it just almost always seems lame unfortunately.
I don't recall the title atm, but there's a game on the 3ds eShop that tried to modernize "Pac-Man" and even gave it a HORROR theme. You rub thru maze in first person view grabbing pages of ancient text or something and the scary "ghosts" chase you around. Imo it's a very clever effort, but it still just doesn't give such an old design enough of a makeover to be viable by today's standards. And with space invaders they didn't even go ALL out with the effort to try and make it relevant. How about NO more space invaders remakes for 10 years? By then maybe it'll have been long enough for us to MISS it and relish it's return

Re: Review: Dementium II (DS)

Jhomesjones

I had never heard of Dementium until I stumbled upon the "Dementium remastered" in the 3ds eShop. Since there is barely a handful of survival horror games on the system I had to give it a try. I absolutely loved it. It's one of the ONLY games that genuinely creeped me out and gave me a real sense of dread. First game was creepy and unsettling the entire time, start to finish. Yes its only a ONE NOTE game, but it plays the HELL out of that one note. It has very little replay value but it was great seeing such a good example of the genre on a system starving for it.
Now for the second game☺️. Sadly Dementium 2 never got a remaster the the 3ds and I honestly figured I would never be able to find the semi rare physical copy anywhere that wasn't online and overpriced. (I almost exclusively insist on inspecting a used game in person before buying, thus I HATE buying games online, and add in the fact that this particular game cartridge is semi rare and always at an inflated price online). But then few days ago when looking thru the remnants of the 3ds graveyard at GameStop I found a copy in pristine condition just sitting there overlooked in the partially visually obstructed bottom corner of the locked bin. I enjoyed it even more than the first one. Only complaint I have is lack of control option to turn with the face buttons. It's a great game and a testament to the greatness of the DS system. Imo renegade kid effectively proved that survival horror was NOT out of reach for the little underpowered wonder console.
LONG LIVE THE DS AND THE 3DS! Nintendo can discontinue it, but it can only DIE if we let it die. Never forget it's greatness and keep playing!

Re: Review: Quest of Dungeons (Switch eShop)

Jhomesjones

As always I am a bit late to the party...but Im here.
After being horribly disappointed with the CRASH prone 3ds version of "bit dungeon plus" I took a chance on "quest of dungeons" since it was on sale...and I absolutely LOVE it. I'm actually glad that "bit dungeon plus" pissed me off and sent me on a search for a replacement or I may not have ever found this little eShop GEM.
"Quest of dungeons" feels like a solid title right from the start and oozes charm and humor. They managed to simplify the rpg elements while also maintaining attention to details. Combat is a fantastic hybrid of action/turn based. I agree 100% with this review and that's such a rare occurrence for an indie game review.
I Kno the review is for SWITCH, but the 3ds version is identical. I would recommend this little rpg GEM without any hesitation.

Re: Review: Bit Dungeon Plus (Switch eShop)

Jhomesjones

I have "bit dungeon plus" on 3ds. It's same game minus the multiplayer option. I had seen it sitting in the eShop before but I assumed wasn't something I would like, then I happened see it with a discount sale price and got it on a an impulse whim. While that is usually unwise....it really paid off this time. I really like "bit dungeon plus", its like a traditional action RPG version of "the binding of Isaac" (which I also love). It's great example of how to do a "retro" themed game properly. Usually im argueing against a review, but this time I can happily agree with it. I'd def recommend this game on either 3ds or switch for sure.

Re: Review: Karous -The Beast of Re:Eden- (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

It's better than the review makes it sound. Like all things...in their PROPER CONTEXT it's much more clear. First there's not alot of games like this one to sift thru on 3ds. Second it's not very expensive.
Third, it's got lots of content albeit repetitive content, but what game isn't at least a little repetitive when it has 90+ levels lol.
On a sale day this game is absolutely worthy even waaaay out here in 2020.

Re: Review: Ikachan (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

I see several other comments I totally agree with here. As with Cave story, I was VERY late to this party as well, but I'm here nontheless. Like almost everyone, I'm gonna talk about it's short length and content too much. First though, I do wish to remind everyone that many games of the era that Ikachan simulates were regularly short . "Kirby's Dreamland" , the first Gameboy entry of Kirby, is a timeless beloved classic...that I used to speed run in 22 minutes when I was a child. What's my point? idk, something about it being okay if it's not the longest game in the world.

It's impossible to not compare it with "cave story", they both look, sound and feel so similar in the best kind of way. Sadly however the similarities don't carry over into content. If you were to take the first most basic path through "Cave story" with the first ending opportunity and compare that to "ikachan", it's not nearly as dramatic. That playthrough of Cave Story would be around 2-3 hours and Ikachan is about half that at 1-1.5 hours. But Cave story has multiple paths, choices that matter, multiple endings and even a second playable character. That takes the original short length and easily triples it into around 8-9 hours. I wish ikachan had done at least some sort of bonus mode, but it was not to be. I didn't want to just parrot what everybody said lol, but looks like I pretty much did anyways.
HOWEVER, as a 3ds eShop game "Ikachan" is a competent, adorable fun game that I absolutely recommend, esp if you can find it on sale.

Re: Review: Bit Boy!! ARCADE (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

I recently commented but I had to return because literally the day I posted I happened to find this game on sale and got it. After playing a solid little chunk of it I have to say it really cannot be described as bad. I agree with many parts of the review, but as noted by some other comments, some of the reviewer complaints don't make sense. It says you have to use both pad and face buttons to move but you really don't have to except to sprint, and you move quite fast normally. Meaning imo it's a non issue. The camera is limited but it's not that big a deal, it's a fair issue/complaint imo. Graphically it's simple, but imo it's a beauty. No jagged edges, nice sharp lines, and runs ultra smooth. (Lol other than Kubi s intentional movement style). Soundtrack is great, voice acting is huge part of it's charm and personally (as a fellow deep voice block like entity) I LOVE Kubis ridiculous voice.
The gameplay itself is what matters above all else, and while it's not the most exciting game ever it is a solid gameplay premise and it oozes charm. The review was spot on with this part. This is honestly one of the most charming games I've ever played. It's an inspired creation that you can clearly (and literally) see how much fun the developer had making this game and just when you start to feel the repetition nagging at you he sucks you back into that fun consistently. Also review was spot on about the "overworld" map, it's seriously cool and clever.
With 3ds eShop reviews you have to review in proper context, this game is not expensive, I got it on sale for lil over 5$. Regular is 8.99 I think. Imo it's well worth it if you, somewhere down deep are still a child at heart. It's a wonderful example of what makes indie games so great, unchained creativity. Broken down it's a 4/10, but this game is far greater than the sum of it's parts. I'm so late to this party and nobody cares lol, but I'd give 6.5/10.

Re: Mini Review: Absolute Drift - Zen-Like Powersliding Plagued By Technical And Design Problems

Jhomesjones

What a wonderful world it would be if "games didn't crash at all". Lol in my experience, not all, but almost every studio from the single person basement studio to the 100s of ppl on a main well known studio have some amount of crashing at some point on at least one of their games. Indie devs are the worst offenders but I'm very lenient with them. They face problems that just aren't easy to get around with low resources and man power. But I'd love to join you in saying "no games should crash".

Re: Review: Bit Boy!! ARCADE (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

What a strange review and a stranger game to go with it lol. I've never seen such a positive review with a score of 4/10. The "new" 3ds eshop game "Silver Falls: 3 down stars" has a totally brutal gutting review and has either the same score or 1 point higher I think... And while it does have some truly great moments and a great super long " RE mercenaries" type mode it has some SERIOUS issues that range from ruining your day to driving you completely insane.
Lol just the nature of 3ds indie reviews I guess, they are as random as the games they judge.

Re: Review: Serious Sam Collection - Two-Thirds Enormous Fun, One-Third Crushing Disappointment

Jhomesjones

5/10 seems bit harsh. I can't comment much tho cause I've never seen or played any of these except the first one for about 20 minutes at friends house. But imo there needs to be a serious issue to merit such a loss of points. Like there's a game I'm not gonna mention atm that I love to defend, but it HAS a fatal flaw that has still yet to be fixed. So yea it can def sit at it's real life score of 5/10 and I understand why. Good game with an unfixed fatal glitch. I don't get the low score on this review. Only real issue was with frame rate on 1 game of the series set. Oh well, to each their own.

Re: Review: Carto - A Beautifully-Rendered Puzzler That Loses Its Way Too Quickly

Jhomesjones

@Yodalovesu
Lol I noticed that too. But I think I "get" it. I remember playing NES games as a tiny child, I beat games like Castlevania Simon's quest (waaay before the internet and walkthroughs) Then 20 years later I can't beat the same games w o using internet.
Children have different set of skills and patience for some things, despite clues being vague they don't think twice about trying silly things over and over to progress. I mentioned Simons quest because if it's nonsensical translations that made no sense and yet I played so much as a child that I eventually did kneel in correct spot for the cpl seconds required to progress even tho I had no idea what to do. This is rambling too much but it shld make enough sense by now.

Re: XIII Remake's Launch On PS4 Doesn't Give Us Much Hope For The Switch Release

Jhomesjones

Why in the world would they change from that graphic type to a terribly generic one? Cel shading is great and can make a game look very polished if done correctly, so they scrapped it lol and went with generic semi real style that looks to be from 2 generations ago. Havnt even gotten to those glitches and enemy AI. Unless it's on purpose to be funny,no game should have problems like this in this day and age. Even one person 3ds eShop indie devs with no budget managed to make a working AI that functioned but real companies can't? Come on ...u can do better

Re: The Game Boy Is Getting A New Wonder Boy And Ys-Inspired Adventure

Jhomesjones

Gives me hope that the true spirit of GAMING is indeed alive and well. First I heard about "where is my body", then "Dragon Born" and now this. I'd been saying for years that it would be wonderful if Nintendo decided to reissue the Gameboy, both the original green screen wonder and the Gameboy color, to original specs of course (with a few MINOR improvements) and give some physical cartridges some reissues. It would not only make many of us old ppl smile, buy maybe bring some new smiles along too. Now that 3ds is officially discontinued, (BUT NOT DEAD!) maybe now would be the time to bring back the original handheld portable?

Re: Review: Puzzle Labyrinth (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

See, this is a thorough review, well done. This game is quite good in the context of its genre, not to be confused with the less expensive "3d retro dungeon challenge" which is not even worthy of being called a game, it's just a tutorial for a game that never happens. Anyone who knows what I'm talking about will be quite happy with "puzzle labyrinth". This is a solid, unique title, that was actually made to be fun and played. Where most budget indie titles try to trick you into buying them, it's great to see some nice reviews like this to help us sort through the shovelware to find the gems like this.

Re: Review: No More Heroes - A Crude And Madcap Anime Nightmare That Deserves Your Attention

Jhomesjones

Both games are great on Wii and I still have them so no need to get on my switch. But YOU should. I should mention that it's been bit over hyped. Yes it's great but not 9/10 great. The pointless dullness of the waaay too large and incredibly ugly open city that you WILL be looking at for long periods of time is enough to knock it to an 8/10 to start imo. Sharpening up the horribly jagged lines of original Wii version couldn't possibly help that much, the "pop in" draw distance was almost nausea inducing on the original. The review didn't mention anything so I assume it wasn't changed, if it was I would happily buy for switch

Re: Soapbox: An Ode To The 3DS, Nintendo's Workhorse Console

Jhomesjones

3ds is my favorite console of all time. I prefer it over my switch. I have enormous collection of games I've aquired over the years of DS and 3ds, my backlog of games is impressive in its own right and even if I didn't buy any more I have a year+ worth of games to play. The library of quality underrated and elusive games is so vast that this console cannot die out unless WE choose to let it. Don't get sucked into the "throwaway" culture that is being pushed on us. Yes the "Switch" is great...but try as it might, it cannot be a true portable, even switch lite battery life is just not up to the task and it's far too large and ackward to carry with you in pocket or purse. Social media and video game industry will continue it's assault on our attention span but be aware and resist it, they aren't interested in how much "fun" and "quality entertainment" we get, they only want more $$$. 3ds has loads more to contribute, you just have to look for yourself to find out.

Re: No More Heroes 1 And 2 Are Both Available Now On Switch In Uncensored Form

Jhomesjones

Great Games, but honestly both are heavily flawed, but fsr time is very kind to flawed games for some reason. First games flaws are technical mostly, really atrociously ugly free roam city with almost nothing to see or do. Second game thankfully does away with the free roam city. Both games have pacing problems. But don't get me wrong these are great games, both deserved a remake on wiiU or switch or even 3ds, I'll settle for port release to switch, at least they can reach new gen of players now

Re: Switch Is No Longer The Only Way To Play Bloodstained On The Move

Jhomesjones

I have this game on switch, I see no reason why it isn't able to exist on ANY console, PS Vita and even original 3ds (not even just the "new" 3ds). Yes you may have minor framerate slowdown when too much stuff on screen, yes might have to split up areas but more, maybe a loading screen here and there. But no body can get me to believe it wouldn't have been possible and downright easy.

Re: Review: Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition (New 3DS)

Jhomesjones

I won't say this review is unfair but it seems to miss the point. Minecraft on a phone is terrible imo, Minecraft on a Switch or even switch lite is not very portable to take around and battery doesn't last. To be able to play full real Minecraft with actual physical sticks and buttons on a "new" 3ds is really great. The draw distance is only noticable difference and fsr even PS Vita version suffers from the same draw distance, but it's not that bad, navigating is easy thanks to the ever visable bottom screen map. Including myself there were maaany ppl that were very happy to finally be able to play Minecraft in a comfortable convenient way anywhere

Re: Rodea The Sky Soldier Is Being Removed From The Wii U And 3DS eShops In Japan

Jhomesjones

Why is it being removed? Its not even a great game to begin with, so removing it to launch onto Switch makes no sense. Many times I've considered thinking about mulling over whether or not I may one day be interested in buying this on 3ds. And what's even stranger than their decision to remove rodea the sky soldier....the article says it had already been removed from NA (North America) on September 30th but....in in 3ds eShop right now and it's still here. What's the point of all this MADNESS! A ploy to shine attention on a mediocre game maybe?
Just get "Kid Icarus: uprising" it's a much better game.

Re: Review: Cave Story (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

Ok I get this game has been around for awhile, but this review tells me absolutely nothing. I just wanted to know what this game is like, all I've heard previously is that it's good. I read the entire review and all it says is it's good ...

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo 64 Games

Jhomesjones

Omg this brought back soooo maaany long forgotten memories. Thank you lol.
Was turok , turok 2, or turok rage wars on there, did I overlook them? I'll just assume they were and I missed it. Castlevania 64, Quest 64....too, I'm sure I overlooked those as well.
But even so, great article, it was literally like a cliche video montage in my head as I had flashes of so many awakened memories. I had no PS until the reissue tiny PS1 came out, so my first resident evil game was RE:2 and it is still one of my favorite memories of my younger days. I must've beaten that game 20+ times with both characters. With the early "mercenaries" type mode...tofu man square, H.U.N.K....
I'm just gonna stop now because I could ramble on and on and it's your fault "Nintendo life" for reawakening a vault of memories

Re: Review: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit - A Joyful Fusion Of Reality And Fiction

Jhomesjones

This is why Nintendo will always be king IMO. They aren't afraid to take a completely different path in gaming and they pull it off with such high success rate. When I heard about this Mario kart game I thought it was an incredible idea, but...I honestly was afraid it wldnt quite work out as there is just too many potential problems to solve. I'm so glad I was wrong. Well done Nintendo!.

PS : this still doesn't make up for the joycon drift....admit and just fix it already ok?

Re: Review: Lifespeed (New Nintendo 3DS)

Jhomesjones

Pretty fair review, which is rare for a 3ds eShop indie title to get. I'm very forgiving when comes to indie games because I understand the difficulty that these development studios face and the competition for attention among a sea of shovelware. The team behind Lifespeed clearly tried to make a genuinely fun game to fill the gaming gap of "no 3ds f-zero" and for the most part they succeeded. It's a bit unpolished and I experienced a few crashes/freezes on loading screens, and with 8 or so tracks is bit short on content, but it's a solid title worthy of a little recognition. In proper context of its low price, indie creator and clear effort, I have no hesitation to recommend this game to any f-zero fan.
I also wanted to come back randomly 3 years later and add a few things. First the reviewer was incorrect about a minor detail, there is a pause menu screen that shows the games controls in detail. However it's not exactly right out in the open and I understand how it could be overlooked. And second, I was hoping that sometime after my first initial comment 3 years Ago that an F-zero game like a port of FZero GX or "FZero 64" would come to the 3ds...but sadly it did not. Life speed is as close as we get. And now it looks as if the Switch is going to retire without a new main line FZero....why Nintendo...? WHY? 😕

Re: Review: EDGE (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

Perfect example of what a "budget" 3ds eShop game should be. Simple, challenging, fun, clean, and generous amount of content. Good review but imo there's no sufficient downside to this version vs other consoles versions and the emphasis on that seemed unnecessarily excessive enough to deter some ppl, judging by some of the others comments. But hey, still an accurate, fair, informative review and those are so rare nowadays, esp on anything 3ds.

Re: Review: 3D Ecco The Dolphin (3DS eShop)

Jhomesjones

Another unfair review...how predictable. I have come to hate review sites. Rarely I see an actual review that judges a game in it's proper context. For quite a awhile games have become too easy and are afraid to anger or annoy the player with a real challenge. I'm old enough to remember games like Ecco, games drop you into their world with little to no direction and leaves it up to the player to figure out the game mechanics. Ecco the dolphin was imo an incredible achievement at the time, and is still holding up quite nicely. I'm slightly annoyed that this remaster/port chose to include an invincibility mode. Why not just include a difficulty setting instead? One that maybe gives increased time underwater or even infinite breath without invincibility to damage? It's a great, legendary game from an era revered by real gamers. I've seen much worse gaming injustices than giving Ecco a 6/10, but it's still worth complaining about 😉. It's an 8/10 easily if judge in proper context

Re: Mini Review: Micro Pico Racers - Sadly Not In The Same League As Micro Machines

Jhomesjones

Hehe fsr it reminds me of "super off road" on NES. Review seemed pretty fair until final score. Come on a 4/10? You gotta judge in proper context, for budget game with no actual glitches or problems that just seems bit harsh but I've not played it and probly won't anyways so I'm not really interested in poking at the reasoning. For bit more $ get "80s Overdrive" racing, it's retro arcade style racing with truly beautiful retro graphics.
