If you're a fan of classic survival horror games such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark, one upcoming Switch release you might want to keep an eye on is, Tormented Souls. You'll take control of the protagonist Caroline Walker as you explore an abandoned mansion turned hospital:
While investigating the disappearance of twin girls at Winterlake - something terrible happens to Caroline Walker. Waking in the dead of night, naked in a bathtub - and hooked up to some decrepit medical equipment, Caroline must fight for her life as she explores the halls of an abandoned mansion turned hospital.

The main feature of the game is challenging puzzles in a "dark and menacing environment". Exploration also plays a big part, as the protagonist attempts to remember her own lost identity. In order to make it out alive, you'll need to manipulate the very fabric of reality, while relying on your steady aim and sharp reflexes to deal with unspeakable horrors. Here's a look:
Is this a game you'll be watching out for? Tell us down below.

So far so good, the wait will be a drag though.
Could be good. I'm hoping there's actual combat of some sort, though, and the game isn't just running and hiding from stalkers the entire time.
@Ralizah Let's hope so because those games where you run from a monster and can't defend yourself are great right up until you die for the first time, then the monster loses any kind of threat and you realise death has no real consequences. I want to shoot something in the face!
@Ralizah It says in the article “In order to make it out alive, you'll need to manipulate the very fabric of reality, while relying on your steady aim and sharp reflexes to deal with unspeakable horrors.” That sounds like a press release to me rather than the author of this article and mentioning steady aim suggests that there are guns or projectile weapons of some kind. I think you could probably relatively safely say that there’ll be combat then.
The promotional artwork shows the protagonist holding a weapon of sorts. So I guess there's at least some combat mixed in with the puzzle and survival elements. Here's a bit more from the PR:
"Be sure to be alert at all times, and use anything you can find to fight off the encroaching terrors of Winterlake."
I hope this is good; it’s been a while since I dove into a modern, fun survival horror. (Excluding the excellent Silent Hill trilogy and some of the original Resident Evil games. (0-4 and VII were amazing too...)
@Ralizah She's holding a nail gun in the thumbnail of the video. Probably thesame as in the screenshot, but I couldn't tell what it was there. I guess there's your answer
I just hope it turns out better than the Remothered Switch port, it can be as Clock Tower-y, Shattered Memories-y, or Haunting Ground-y as it wants beyond that and won't lose any appeal to me.
Looks like one of those games that looks great in the promotional footage but performance issues make it nearly unplayable. Remothered comes to mind.
Wow, it actually looks really good! Love this genre, I'm so glad it's returning!
They could also bring Song of Horror. What an amazing game! If you guys like this genre, don't miss on that one. It's terrifying and the atmosphere is brilliant.
Will be keeping my eye on this. Not sure if I will get it on switch or steam. Also it has a classic RE inventory system though with more space.
The music playing is reminding me a little of steins gate ost. Xo
A little bit of fatal frame silent Hill feel which is great, but concerned about performance and all that darkness on the handheld screen.
If this well, I hope it persuades Ninteneo or Koei-Tecmo to bring some of those Fatal Frame games to Switch.
It looks GORGEOUS. I would have played it if it looked subpar visually, but I WAS NOT expecting that.
I like this very much 👍. While I did absolutely LOVE the first Resident Evil revelations, it was best on 3ds and Switch is lacking the big RE releases, Tormented souls is exactly what Nintendo needs! There's another NEW survival horror for Switch too that will actually arrive before the end of this year to help us along for the tormented souls wait. Keep watch for "Silver Falls: episode watchtower" in Switch eShop n a month or two, ive been keeping close eye on their twitter page and the screen shots look freaking amazing. It's outdoor environments and has mutated animals n aliens as the horror theme but still gonna be damn cool.
I think I will preordered this on switch. Really like the trailer.
@nintendolife They cancelled the ps4 and xbox one version of the game.
NS version is still happening. Idk why PS4 and Xbox one versions are cancelled but NS version is still alive.
