Re: Ori Developer Moon Studios Labelled "Oppressive" Workplace In New Report

JasmineDragon

@CaptainCluck No, that argument carries no weight whatsoever. The Pyramids and the White House are two examples of "fine work" that was accomplished with actual slave labor. Meanwhile, Foxconn have made and continue to make excellent electronics with working conditions so bad Foxconn laborers have committed suicide rather than face another day at the factory.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 19th)

JasmineDragon

This weekend I'm honestly just noodling around before Rune Factory 5 gets here.

I started Dawn of the Monsters but haven't gone too far with it yet. Good game so far.

Played through the new Mario Kart tracks a couple of times. Lots to like here.

Currently playing Civilization VI as Egypt, one of my favorite civs.

And I'll be doing Ring Fit Adventure at some point.

Re: Review: Dawn Of The Monsters - Superior Co-Op Kaiju Combat With Pacific Rim Vibes

JasmineDragon

I've only played an hour or so of this, but so far my feelings line up pretty close to the review. It feels like a "great little game". No frills but very well done. The art style is great, and it feels equally at home on handheld and on a big TV that makes a lot of Switch games with higher production values look ugly and jagged.

There's a lot of love that you can feel in the design. These people love kaiju.

I'm certainly not the pickiest player when it comes to frame rates and input lag, but the controls feel fine to me.

I do hope they will consider DLCing another character or two. There are so many kaiju that would be fun to play as. I'd love to play with Hedorah or Mothra analogues. I was hoping more monsters would be unlockable in the game, but none of the reviews I've seen mention anything like that.

Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Could Be Inducted Into The Video Game Hall Of Fame

JasmineDragon

Resident Evil, Civilization and Rogue are all very strong contenders here. They and OoT arguably ALL deserve the honor. And Rogue and Civilization came out long before Ocarina, so I would prioritize them - not to mention that personally, I feel they deserve it more. These are games that defined entire genres.

Unquestionably, if the category was "Nintendo Platforms Hall of Fame" or even "Console Hall of Fame", OOT should already have been inducted. No two ways about it. But it's all video games on all platforms. And I'm sorry, I love Ocarina but Rogue and Civ are equally "important" if not more.

Re: Disney's Upcoming Free-To-Play Switch Racer Reveals A New Playable Character

JasmineDragon

I really don't understand why Disney don't just make Sugar Rush a real thing. The concept is RIGHT THERE. Guest racers are already part of the concept. Invaders from other video games, check. Characters who canonically live in the same reality as all the Disney Princesses, check. Cute style that can also be badass, check!

This, though? Feeling rather meh. What part of that character is Elizabeth Swann, anyway? Is it the fact that she's sort of blonde? If that's enough, then I, too, am Elizabeth Swann.

Re: Feature: We Talked To The Godzilla-Obsessed Devs Of Kaiju Co-Op Beat-'Em-up, Dawn Of The Monsters

JasmineDragon

I've been waiting for a Godzilla game for years now, but any decent kaiju will be welcome. I have shelves full of monster movies and figures I've collected -mostly Godzilla, but I have a bit of everything. I just love monsters.

I was into this as soon as I saw it. They got some real kaiju guys to work on this - I'm especially excited to see Matt Frank's miniboss. I'm downloading on day one, and if it meets my expectations I might buy physical too.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 12th)

JasmineDragon

I'm still playing Atelier Ryza 2, but I find I haven't really been in the mood for it this past week. Instead, I've been dipping into Raiden IV (Mikado Remix), R-Type Dimensions EX and Rolling Gunner. Might start some G Darius HD today.

I downloaded Haven last night and will probably spend some time with that. Will also do at least one Ring Fit Adventure session.

I've also really been hankering to play some boardgames, so sometime this weekend I might play some Legendary: Marvel, Shadowrun: Crossfire or Dungeon Degenerates.

Re: Nintendo Officially Reveals The LEGO Princess Peach Set

JasmineDragon

Cat Peach confirmed, the suit is in the Kamek set. I knew that was coming, but didn't think it would be in the first wave.

I just don't know about this whole theme. I'm a huge Lego fan and something of a Mario fan, and I don't hate the Mario figs, but the builds in these sets are terrible as models. They only work as playsets, and I don't need playsets.

Re: Best Detective Games On Nintendo Switch

JasmineDragon

I just ordered the Paradise Killer physical edition the other day, because you know I need more murder-prone vaporwave drag queens in my life.

This is a great list, I haven't played too many of these games but I love all the ones I have played. Except for Batman Enemy Within. I really didn't get along with that game.

Re: Japan Gets Special Edition Of Klonoa On Switch Which Includes Drinking Glasses

JasmineDragon

Glasses are some of the coolest things to get in a special edition, in my opinion. It serves a purpose and will remind you of the game for years (if glasses can last for years in your household). I love shot glasses more than I actually like drinking.

But I'm not sure Klonoa is the game I want to spend that kind of money on. I want the game, but a standard edition will be fine.

Re: Rune Factory 5 Lets You Cook, Fish, Smith, And Ride Cows With The Love Of Your Life

JasmineDragon

So excited for this, I was thinking about posting "only two weeks left!" in the RF thread here last night. I am at maximum hype and waiting for my Special Edition, ordered from Best Buy because Amazon messes up all my launch day deliveries. CAN NOT WAIT.

Also, to answer the question, yes, those are excellent dating activities. I met my wife when were both working on a farm, and our entire "dating" experience was doing farm stuff together. You really get to know a person when you're bringing in the harvest together! Our 25th anniversary is in two months.

Re: Random: Valve Artist Reimagines Ace Attorney Characters As '80s Lawyers

JasmineDragon

Mia really needs to have big hair if she wants to be the perky young upstart character, it's just not the Eighties otherwise. The punk/New Wave-inspired hair only works for the streetwise, sassy BFF who lives with the heroine and a cute moggy in a rundown railroad apartment in Alphabet City at the beginning of the movie and will still be living there at the end of the movie when the real heroine has blown the glass ceiling to smithereens and is about to move into a swanky apartment overlooking Central Park with her perfect boyfriend who is also a lawyer.

Re: A Long Lost N64 Video Game Prototype Has Been Released

JasmineDragon

I love the graphic style they were going with, looks like Tim Burton and Genndy Tartakovsky got together to make a Professor Layton game. I have to agree with him though, if this game had ever released I doubt it would have sold very well unless there were big surprises yet to come.

Re: Talking Point: How Long Does Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Take To Beat, Really?

JasmineDragon

In my philosophy, the game is done when I finish the main quest, because that's traditionally how the game is structured. The main quest IS the game.

I know there are many, many games that defy this tradition and offer extensive quests to complete afterwards, NG+ and all the little "achievements", but I don't have time for that. I'm pretty sure the last time I really dug in and explored optional missions, DLC and the like after finishing the main game was Fire Emblem: Awakenings.

In fact, the really honest answer to the second question is "when the next game I want to play comes out", because there are a lot of games I want to play and only so many hours in the day.

I never finished BOTW for that exact reason. I think I sunk 125-ish hours into meandering around Hyrule, moved on to something else that came out, never went back. IIRC I beat three of the Divine Beasts, never saw the inside of the castle.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

JasmineDragon

My launch day Switch did well for about three years of intensive use from me and two kids. The only problem it had in the first two years was a drifting joy-con. I replaced it with a pair of ARMS neon yellow JCs which held up well for another two years, and Nintendo repaired the stick on my original pair and it hasn't problems since.

Unfortunately in year three the Switch started overheating when I played certain games. I upgraded to the revised model at that point and let my youngest have the original as it still played some games without a problem. She still has it, but to be honest I don't think she plays on it much, as she is mostly into PS4 games.

I got a Pro Controller the week the Switch launched, too, and it has served me very well but recently started acting a little knackered. Nothing obvious like stick drift, but the sticks and buttons are looser than they used to be, and it just feels like I shpuld be thinking about buying a replacement soon.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 5th)

JasmineDragon

My gaming has been haphazard in the last couple of weeks, and I'm still plugging away at Atelier Ryza 2 long after I thought I'd be done. From time to time I'll dip into Raiden IV (Mikado Remix) which I am sooooo bad at but having fun. And I'm happy to report I got back into doing Ring Fit Adventure regularly.

Re: Poll: Triangle Strategy Is Out Today On Nintendo Switch, Will You Be Getting It?

JasmineDragon

@Lyricana I've had Rune Factory 5 preordered for months, and Dawn of the Monsters jumped to the top of my list because I love me some monster mayhem.

(There's also Kirby, Haven and the MK DLC to think about. TOO MANY GAMES)

Regarding Amazon, it's such a mixed bag. I love that I can find everything I want there, and usually at very competitive prices. But I've had a TON of delivery problems with Amazon, including some genuinely weird ones. I've had them deliver late. I've had them deliver things to my back porch instead of my front, which is just freaking bizarre and got my package wet. Twice when I ordered delivery to my workplace, the things were delivered to the business next door. Recently I had a game opened and the cartridge removed, although they sent a duplicate game as well. And once an item was delayed for days, then weeks, and then just never showed up. It's just a whole adventure every time.

Maybe I'm just very unlucky, I don't know.

Re: Poll: Triangle Strategy Is Out Today On Nintendo Switch, Will You Be Getting It?

JasmineDragon

@BenAV Amazon have missed the delivery date literally every time I've preordered a game there. I no longer preorder games with them if I want to play them on release day. In fact, I've had problems with almost everything I've ordered on Amazon lately, and am about one bad mood away from cancelling my Prime membership altogether. I love the convenience, but unfortunately despise just about everything else about the company.
