Cobra Kai proves that it's possible to revisit an idea decades later even with an unlikeable protagonist who seems beyond redemption. So I won't automatically write this off. It's very much an uphill battle, though.
I started playing Metal Max Xeno Reborn yesterday and am enjoying it so far.
I've been back at Ring Fit Adventure for three days now after a hiatus of two months and change. Feels good to work out again, I just need to be careful with my left arm.
I'll try and knock off a level or two in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania. Also continuing Blue Reflection: Second Light and probably some Cotton Fantasy
Elsewhere: crocheting a sweater (in the home stretch now), listening to music and going to see Maverick tomorrow.
My copy is on its way, I can't wait to play this after work. As a former tank driver, I don't expect much in the way of realism here, but I love playing pretty much any game with an emphasis on armor.
I'm still hopeful the Switch version has only been delayed (and thus not mentioned in this release date announcement), but I'm sure there will be an update to this story within a day or two, as the Internet won't be just sitting around waiting for clarification.
If it's still coming to Switch in a reasonable timeframe, I'll hold out for the Switch version. If not, Steam it is. And I might always double dip - I've done that for two other Firaxis games, and have little doubt this one will be just as worthy.
Please tell me that furry texture is some kind of weird anti-spoiler masking like the disruptive camo covers on prototype cars, and NOT what they are actually going to look like.
I'm pretty sure it is, because you can see hella jagged seams around the photoshopping, and it's not like Nintendo to release promotional stills that are so badly done unless it's on purpose.
Part of me is scared to death that they really think this is a good look.
I like Smoliv, and he would probably be my favorite if he didn't remind me so much of Oddish. I might still flip, but for now Lechonk takes it.
Legendaries both look good. I dare say these are my favorite legendaries in a long, long time. What can I say, I'm a sucker for dragons and dinosaurs, and when you've got one feathered-dino-dragon and one Mechagodzilla-dragon it's almost impossible to pick one. Voting for Koraidon because it feels like it has just a little more personality, but I might as well just flip a coin - they're both awesome.
Every time I see a new game in this vein I'm happy that they are being made, but they're just not for me. I get enough heartbreak at work. I'm in the veterinary field, and literally almost every day I help someone say goodbye to a beloved family pet. It's the toughest part of the job and one of the reasons the veterinary field has a super high burnout rate and much higher than average suicide rate.
Fun fact, dementia is also very common in older dogs. I've seen dogs forget their families and even forget how to get out of corners, and that's a thing you only need to see once. I also personally dread dementia as it runs in my family, I've seen my grandfather lose everything to Alzheimer's and I'm approaching the age where it starts to be a real concern, so I don't need to play games about dementia.
I think it's awesome that peple are making games that deal with caring, loss and all the problems of senescence, but I'm an older person in a caring profession and I see more than enough loss. I play games to escape into a world where none of these things are real concerns.
... and as usual, anytime ANYTHING happens, we're gonna turn this into an ideological battleground where both sides call the others names and mock eachother like little children. Because in 2022 there is no such thing as neutrality, or manners.
This was apparently a very specific problem. I wasn't able to play Slay the Spire (digital) as my Switch is the secondary system and the verification process wouldn't work. Need for Speed (physical) worked just fine, even though NFS has its own online verification.
Blue Reflection: Second Light is my main game this weekend, alternating with Cotton Fantasy, Slay the Spire, Pocky and Rocky Reshrined and maybe some R-Type Dimensions EX.
I also have Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania coming my way today.
ADDED: played several hours of SMB:BM with my kid just like we used to do when she was little. Already worth at least $30 to me.
This is Marvel, so it was pretty much a given that there would be DLC and tiers. And normally I don't bite in those kinds of things, but again, it's Marvel comics and it's Firaxis, so I'm in, probably for middle tier at least.
Three-day weekend for me but my wife is working two of the days, so I'll probably be gaming a lot. I just got Pocky and Rocky Reshrined yesterday so I'll be playing some of that, along with Cotton Fantasy and Blue Reflection: Second Light. And I can't stop playing Slay the Spire.
I'll most likely dip quickly into R-Type Dimensions EX, G-Darius HD and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.
When not gaming, I'll be working on my crochet sweater or doing housework.
Not to be mean, but if you fall for this you should have your bank card taken away, because you clearly are not ready to have one. It boggles my mind that people fall for these things. Like, in what universe is someone going to be selling Switches for that amount of money?
@Bayjax I mean, if you read the article, it is overwhelmingly positive. In fact, my comment was going to be that after like three years on the fence about Dragon's Dogma, I think Kate finally managed to convince me I need to buy it.
I haven't played a single game on that list. Closest I've come is watching my kid play Fortnite and Minecraft. And she keeps asking me for GTA, but last time I checked my parenting handbook, 14 was a little young for GTA.
I'm sorry but Fate/Extella: the Umbral Star was awful. It's not a good example of this genre at all. It might be enjoyable to established fans of the franchise, but I don't recommend it at all to anyone else. No idea how it rated so highly here.
Ugh, Playmates. Why couldn't it be ANY other company? They are like the Kemco of action figures. There was a lot of unhappiness in the Godzilla community when Playmates picked up the G license previously held by NECA. Their figures are straight garbage.
It's not like this is some crazy implausible feature to add, and it would definitely fit the Splatoon vibe to have a little location for you to chill and display your favorite clothes and weapons and listen to a tune or two.
I mean, all this actually does is make the unpeeled versions of these cards more valuable as collector's items. So yeah, genius move by TPC but actually completely pointless in game.
@NWC Then you must have been watching with a blindfold and earmuffs on, because you missed pretty much EVERYTHING Gene Roddenberry stood for and eveything that was the actual point of Star Trek from TOS to Discovery and beyond. Trek was woke from before it even premiered on TV. Why do you think the original Number One was a woman? Why do you think there was a racially diverse, multinational crew on the bridge of the Enterprise? Why do you think Star Trek was the first TV show to ever feature an interracial kiss? (Answer: Roddenberry was 100%, unironically, sometimes almost embarrassingly "woke" and so was Trek, in every single incarnation).
Skyrim is awesome, but I think owning the last version on Switch, PS4 and Steam is enough. Not to mention the fact that I've never finished it on any platform...
I don't understand why anybody has a problem with choice. The deck is a good device; the Switch is a good device.
For me personally, the Deck isn't something I need. I have a 15" Legion, it's not handheld but portable enough that I can take it on weekend trips or bring to work, has all the power I want and plus it's a computer, which is the real reason I have it. And I have the Switch for real portability and ease of use. Different games on each except for cross saves on TW3 and DOS2, and Civ VI which I have on every platform.
Atlus: (Having released several Switch ports of well-received games and one high-profile Switch exclusive new release in the past year) confidently puts out annual survey about what devices people game on, what social media platforms they get recommendations from, what features they look for in a port or enhanced edition and what series they're interested in.
I haven't had time for gaming all week, and just don't have a lot of energy, but there might be some Switching today. Thinking about Civilization VI playing as France (my go-to empire) and Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town.
Alternating this with building the Lego Ideas Medieval Blacksmith (an amazing set!) and continuing my sweater. Currently working on sleeves, so about 2/3 done with that.

Re: Infamous Stardew Valley-Inspired 'Super Zoo Story' Gets New Trailer
It's kind of sad since ConcernedApe basically "ripped off" AN ENTIRE GAME SERIES to make Stardew Valley and no one said a thing, but okay.
I love Stardew as much as the next cottagecore geek, but I defy anyone to tell me how the game isn't Friends of Mineral Town with a new coat of paint.
