American's still can't get this off Amazon. It has been 16 days since launch, and I doubt there is clamoring at high points for the game. Game is already being played, so it can't be "we don't want the game to get leaked pre-launch".
What did American Amazon do, since Japanese and European Amazon have the game?
You can like your PS5 and whatever games you got for it 2 years in for advance, but like, if you are ONLY going to talk about that here on NintendoLife, go to PushSquare.
I have so much control now, that I can be biased for whatever game I want, and be completely unobjective for others tastes, just to further my own. Even if I agree with some of the list, I still try to change it, for my opinion will matter the most now on a dead ranking list.
I'd say give EA a crack at Punch-Out!!, because of Fight Night, but first, they need to bring back Fight Night. Second, Little Mac (from Super Punch-Out!!) was already in one of the games, so close enough. And also Fight Night is far grittier than Punch-Out!! (making things feel weird), so maybe not the best match.
I'll be a bit boring and say let Treasure do a Star Fox or Kid Icarus rail-shooter, because of Sin & Punishment. But first, they need to make another Sin & Punishment game.
@Diogmites If Pikmin and Fire Emblem look fun to you, stop wimping out and play them. Just because Nintendo created/published the game, doesn't mean it is bad. I wouldn't even know your position as to the issue here. If you don't like Nintendo games, why are you here? But also, if they look fun, try them out and play them. You admit they look good to play, and there is no such thing as a company that releases purely good or purely bad media, so there shouldn't be a hold-up just because it's Nintendo.
@InTree I still enjoy the Mario franchise as games and media. Just not really the discussion of it anymore. Rest in piece F-Zero (kinda) and Wave Race (really), casuals would only buy Mario Kart over you. You both have my respect.
@PinderSchloss My brother in Christ, this is not 1993. This is the year 2023.
Anyways, I get why this movie can be boring, but your calling it terrible? One of the worst animated movies ever? So bad it ruins your interest in Mario? Have you seen films like Food Fight? Earwig at the Witch? Alpha and Omega? Pretty much most of the Video Brinquindo library? OTHER ILLUMINATION FILMS.
I can't take comments like "this is one of the worst movies ever" when at worst the movie gets a 5 for being too boring at times. But to then double it up with "this movie has ruined the rest of the franchise for me" when it really only exists in its own little bubble is absurd.
If anything, Mario fans have over time, ruined my enjoyment for the Mario franchise, for not expanding their tastes to then come out with the most normie opinions for other Nintendo franchises that they refuse to actually care about, and extreme takes over the most irrelevant things like this take.
@John_Deacon I mean, the original Super Mario Bros was a pack-in with Duck-Hunt. Of course that is going to be annoying to topple.
As for Metroid, while Dread is the best-selling game, its only about 200k copies above Metroid Prime on the Gamecube. And the Gamecube as we know it, only sold 22 million units. Switch is 133-135 million units. An increase of 230k is a bit low. And this was worse before Mercury Steam spoke up. Before then, Dread only lead by 60k over Prime and was under 3 million copies sold.
In the red corner, Chibi Robo. In the blue corner, Custom Robo. its a 3/1 ratio, with Chibi having 3%, and Custom having 1%. Custom Robo is dead (dormant), and we have killed it. Chibi Robo is dead (dormant), but it shot itself with lead bullets, and injected some lead before that.
@KBuckley27 This. Metroid Dread has only sold 60k extra compared to Metroid Prime on the Gamecube... which sold 22 million units. The Switch sold 103 million units by the time Dread outsold Prime, and yet its sales have last been updated March 31st, 2022.
Wow, F-Zero is first at 15%. Shocker. What is shocking is that Mother is at 6%. Mother is dead, guys. Itoi finished the story with Mother 3, so the 6% of you voters should go elsewhere. Punch-Out, Donkey Kong, Eternal Darkness, StarTropics and Sin & Punishment are worthy.
@AstroTheGamosian Skyrim Skyrim Skyrim. I only ever hear Skyrim when it comes to "why doesn't Nintendo aDd mOdS to their games". It'd be nice, but please. It fits in the nature with Skyrim being re-released once or twice a year. This same example is recycled once or twice a month. But what can I expect? Nintendo fans apperantly can only stick with one example and never diversify, just like how they believe there are only two relevant Nintendo racing games (Mario Kart and F-Zero), while ignoring the other ones all the time (Excite series and Wave Race)
Does anyone have any other example that ISN'T Skyrim? I just want to see. And before you say Minecraft, it has to be OFFICIAL examples.
@SeantheDon29 For Third, Kirby gets his games made frequently, because Hal develops them. They are a second-party studio, and can make their own decisions (just not stuff like trying to leave Nintendo's sphere). Anyways, what about Advance Wars and Famicom Detective Club? They got the remaster treatment, and they are niche (compared to Mario and Zelda). We also got Metroid Prime Remastered.
@Ejadaddy It has to be a Universal studio, because Nintendo partnered with them. So its either Illumination or Dreamworks (or their own Nintendo Pictures).
@day You are sheltered if you think Illumination is this producer of dark and scary films. The Mario movie is an exception, and even then, its the same as claiming Kirby is dark, because of the lore (r/tomorrow). Also, the evil is not being seen as good or being praised, its being countered and booed at. For example, the suicidal Luma wasn't met with agreement with the other prisoners, but with annoyance and wishing it to stop.
Why is Star Fox in the running? Star Fox may not be this hyper-dark and gory franchise, but I wouldn't say its a cute and cuddly one either. This sounds like a task for Dreamworks.
@PinderSchloss "Its not as big as Mario, so it won't be a priority"
Pack it up non-Pokemon fans, all your franchises are no longer being supported, because besides Pokemon, nothing is as big as Mario here (This is basically Nintendo when they turn into Microsoft)
4 + a half years later and I wonder if people know that Cloud Saves are still supported for 6 months after you subscription ends, and nothing is deleted.
@Eagly I'm not saying it shouldn't try to make an interesting plot, but when the non-RPG games don't give much to build off of, what do they base a Mario plot on that isn't simple and basic?
@PinderSchloss I'll give you Metroid, and I might as well give you Kirby, but how is Zelda niche and unknown? BOTW outsold Odyssey on the Switch, and people are clamoring so much for a Zelda movie. If we take the "niche and unknown" argument seriously, then why was Punch-Out and Donkey Kong (Punch-Out, especially) an actual part of the movie? They are far more niche than Zelda (when we remove Donkey Kong from Mario games).
@Eagly Yes, but Puss in Boots was made for a more adult audience, its just something that can be seen by a kid, as well.
The Mario Movie is made for kids and hardcore Mario/Nintendo fans (who like to see stuff like Foremen Spike). Making the Mario Movie and not giving it a big plot is ok. If it is a Mario RPG, Zelda, Metroid or some other movie from a franchise where stories matter, then there is an issue.
@GameOtaku I agree that it shouldn't be the only option, but it isn't a bad single option. VC and NSO are fine on their own, but when both included on a console, it can be powerful.
@GameOtaku Your not forced online for NSO, though. If you play on NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, Gameboy or Gameboy Advance, you only need to play online, when you want to play with your friends online.
And as I said, most people wouldn't play a niche title like Winback, if it was on VC. Its proven that the niche titles on VC are very low on the list of VC games when sorted by popularity.
@PinderSchloss You are acting if this is new. This has been going on since the NES era, they've just tried different tactics. They doubled/tripled the price of video games from $20/$30 to $60. They tried to stop Blockbuster from allowing people to rent games. They closed doors to companies that made games for someone that wasn't them, even during the N64 era. For all intents and purposes, the Wii was priced $50 higher than the Gamecube, while not improving much that would make it cost $50. They were the ones pushing for fangame and youtube takedowns in the mid-2000's. They pushed for DLC even though the game was finished since 2012 with Fire Emblem.
Nintendo of today is milder compared to some of Nintendo's past forms, they just don't have the nostalgia factor at the moment, that past eras had.
Also, Mario Galaxy 2 was more of the same (and it was downgraded in story) that costed a bit more money, yet it was heavily praised and loved by people. So why is it an issue (and how does it make Nintendo scummy and greedy) for TOTK to (seemingly) be more of the same?
@Vil I blame poor business decisions. The biggest factor of their downfall, was that they didn't want to make new games for console anymore. Because they never worked on a HD console before, they said "fine, we will just keeping making games for the 3DS". It originally went great (first game), until it didn't (Bowsers Inside Story). But they still had money. So they then said "the 3DS is dead, mobile is the future. They partnered with a Sony studio for their first mobile game, which flopped. Now they had no money, so they declared bankruptcy.
What we can learn from this, is that Alpha Dream was N E V E R going to make new games for consoles, now that there were no more non-HD consoles. The Mario and Luigi series was doomed because of this, not because they went bankrupt. If they weren't interested in making the REMAKES of their games for Switch (which wouldn't take up too many resources), then they would simply not make games for Switch. They wanted to go mobile, but they failed with their first game, and went bankrupt because of it.
@GameOtaku Yeah, but these niche titles aren't being bought because they are niche. I wouldn't have bought Winback on VC (although it wasn't on VC) if I had the chance, but since I have NSO, I tried it, and now I love it.
