Re: Klonoa 3? Depends On Wiimake's Sales

Ian_Daemon

Klonoa was pretty good on the Wii! It was a little easy, but well worth the purchase. (The beginning and middle of the game were easy; the end tested your platforming skills.)

Let's see Klonoa 3 (and a Tomba wii-make)!

Re: High Voltage Unveils Gladiator A.D.

Please deliver...HVS. Hot Rod Show, Gyrostarr, and V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack were of questionable quality. Hopefully, The Conduit will be awesome; I have doubts.

p.s.
Soulcalibur on the Dreamcast was awesome!

Re: GoldenEye Designer Backs Virtual Console Release

Ian_Daemon

Why wouldn't Martin Hollis want GoldenEye on the VC? It would represent virtually zero work on his part and (depending on prior agreements) more money. This seems like a "no brainer" to me.

Did anyone play the re-created GoldenEye maps for Quake 2? They were awesome. (http://www.yeahdogg.com/quakeii)

Re: Review: Klonoa (Wii)

Ian_Daemon

I played the heck out of "Klonoa" for the Wii over the weekend and I have to agree with Corbie that it's a fun game! I love 2.5D platformers and hopefully we'll see a revival. Klonoa can be a shorter experience, but the item collection aspect of the game adds a little replay. The end of the game will definitely test your platformer skills. (Something that only the later levels of Super Mario Galaxy did...) Ok, NOW I'm asking for Tomba.

I wonder how much "Icarian: Kindred Spirits (WiiWare)" will be like this?

Re: Excitebots Crashes Out At Retail

Ian_Daemon

I didn't know this was in the same series as Excitebike & Excite Truck. I just thought this was another "SPOGS". Maybe Nintendo should have promoted the "pedigree" a little more. (Or promoted the game...really.) So I guess we won't see Excite Train...

Re: Review: Klonoa (Wii)

Ian_Daemon

I totally missed KLONOA on the first PlayStation, but based on this review (and that price) I'm going to go pick it up for the Wii. (and I'm still tickled at that TOMBA reference a couple days ago.)

(I'm not looking for TOMBA to return, it's just nice to see that it isn't forgotten.)

Re: NPC Jungle Beat Gets Euro Date

Ian_Daemon

This game was actually FUN and UNIQUE with the Bongo-controls. Without the bongos, Jungle Beat just sounds boring. The actual game levels weren't much so to remove one of the only things going for the title is not a good idea.

Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (29th Apr)

Ian_Daemon

I enjoy retro gaming more than the next guy, but I bought Bit.Trip:Beat as soon as it launched and I am very disappointed. Were my expectations too high? Maybe.

It's just very easy to miss some beats because the colors and and backgrounds are always moving and overlapping. Visually, it's confusing.

It's very reasonably priced. I was just hoping for something...fun to play. For now it'll sit there next to Niki Rock'n'Ball.

To answer the BTB programmer's question (osb1842)...I would say "marketing". If it weren't for WWW, I wouldn't know anything about BTB. Marketing, Marketing, Marketing. The whole Bit.Trip concept is cool, but might be a little "obscure" for the masses. This website does what it can to get the world out, but Nintendo isn't going to be much help in selling your games.

Re: WiiWare Threshold Is Really About Quality Control

Ian_Daemon

"...policy that punishes earnest indie developers who have often made great personal sacrifices to release their wares on the WiiWare service..."
Uh, I wouldn't call the WiiWare Sales Threshold a "flagrantly unfair policy", but I do agree with your comment about marketing/demos.

Re: Dunaway: No E3 Snowboarding This Time

"I’m going to be up on stage presenting, something that your fans ought to love" Does she think we actually want to see her on stage? Or was she saying that we'd love the 'something'. Either way, what an ego!

@Bahamut ZERO: Not always...

Re: Welcome to the New Look Nintendo Life!

Ian_Daemon

"...it didn’t make sense to have three different sites - all focusing on Nintendo - running separately. By fusing them together we will create a strong base from which to expand even further..."

So you think putting all your eggs in one basket is a stronger approach?

Re: SD Card Game Launching + Arcade Games Available on VC Now!

Ian_Daemon

Wow, the Wii Update 4.0 is long overdue and a welcome sight. Although I'm more excited about the possibilities than the actual outcome, it's a step in the right direction. (I think it's a big step, but that's just me.)

Maybe now we'll see the "Arch Rivals" arcade classic! "Arch Rivals" was the most not-like-Basketball "Basketball" game I ever played.

We can hope...
