@COVIDberry The difference is a kid talking obvious nonsense on a forum, and a worryingly large number of people here genuinely calling for him to be punished, as if he actually was a terrorist.
@COVIDberry No, it wouldn’t. Perhaps if he was the head of a known terrorist operation, or the leader of a political movement. Don’t be so bloody ridiculous.
@WallyWest I’ll certainly look into it. You seem pretty certain, and I’m no authority.
Regardless of Kubrick, I thought it was absolutely scandalous how that TV network recently took advantage of Duvall’s mental illness for the sake of ‘exclusive’ entertainment. Revolting behaviour.
@MarzipanD I’m pretty sure she was a pain in the ass on set due to diva-ish, incessantly neurotic behaviour, which apparently annoyed a lot of people at the time. I saw a documentary where Kubrick and other crew were clearly out of patience. She milked the attention seeking too much.
Her long-term mental deterioration had little to zip to do with Kubrick, though. I think @WallyWest needs to elaborate, because if he’s talking about Duvall, I’m pretty sure he’s mistaken. Duvall was already mentally ill, and her trajectory was governed by her own brain development/ deterioration—not Kubrick blanking her and telling her to do her job.
I may be wrong. But I do think the whole ‘Kubrick made Duvall crazy because he mentally tortured her on set’ is a movie myth, akin to, ‘the Joker killed Heath Ledger’.
@JohnnyC I suppose you’re right—but I think it would be cooler to stream select viewings of these films for free, at certain times, via Youtube, with a big new Tenet trailer at either end.
I think the problem comes down to market relevance—in order to stay at the forefront of mobile gaming, Nintendo would need to employ more snide, disagreeable profit strategies, ie: lootboxes, simple, addictively manipulative style games, etc.
Doing so directly affects their image as a trusted, heavy hitting entertainment company. Remember, Nintendo are on track to stand on the same summit as Disney. They can’t be seen to be whaling in the polluted backwashes of the mobile market.
This is a long term gamble on their reputation. They are looking to create a billion dollar, premium brand. They are on track. Why risk it all for grimy wads of dubious mobile cash?
@Inc Mobile gaming is fraught with negative associations that do more harm to Nintendo than good.
Fine if you’re some unknown startup with no expectations with regard to quality and good customer care. But Nintendo has a reputation to uphold, and mobile is pretty grubby.
Zelda benefits from uniquely Japanese composition. A Western composer would make it sound like yet another hammy medieval fantasy cliche.
The majority of western (specifically American) game studios have zero sense of subtlety or artistry. Zelda is beautiful because it is enriched with Japanese culture.
@antdickens It was an example of victim blaming. Victim blaming is a prevalent problem in rape discourse. I was pointing out that such victim blaming, in any context, IS WRONG. My example is intended to clarify my point. To imply that I’m making light of rape victims is, frankly, vile.
How exactly is it inappropriate to talk about victim blaming culture, and mention rape, which forms a huge proportion of public discourse?
You know what? Fine. Remove it. Clean up the dirty words.
@nintendolife I’d like to know why you decided to change my wording from ‘raped’ to ‘assaulted’. That’s ludicrous.
Rape is not a dirty or inappropriate word. It is something that people shouldn’t be ashamed to talk about, and it shouldn’t be censored. How the hell is assault any more palatable than rape? Does rape make you blush? Cover your children’s ears?
My paypal account was hacked about a week ago. Luckily they flagged a transaction of £400 (from Halfords, of all places) and prevented it happening. But still. Now I have updated all of my passwords, and changed my card. A royal pain the ass it all was too. 7 hours trying to call paypal, my bank, Halfords (who never answered).
The lesson? Individual, non-obvious passwords for every single account, changed every 6 months or so.
@DinnerAndWine But they do slaughter 20 million dogs and 4 million cats every year for meat—animals raised in hellish conditions. Not to mention the Chinese government’s approval of using bear bile to treat Coronavirus— a ‘traditional’ chinese medicine treatment with zero evidence for effectiveness, and which causes the captive bears huge pain and distress from its extraction. And that’s just the tip of a very bloody terrible iceberg.
Don’t try to pretend that China is some kind of victim of misrepresentation. Infected wild animals might not be served in every household in China, but it’s certainly no myth.
Inappropriate in the sense of making light of the tragic loss of life? Absolutely.
Racist?
Probably a bit. Who the hell cares??
Does this idiot’s words or actions impact anything? Is his stupidity so important to anyone? No. So stop crying about it. Boohoo, someone said something you don’t like. That’s 99.999% of life, children. Learn to deal with it.

Summertime Saga on Switch.
It’s time, Nintendo.
Re: Waifu Uncovered Mixes Bullet-Hell With Boobies, And Even Comes With A "One Finger" Mode
I’m always amazed that so many people don’t realise that straight girls buy and enjoy these games too.
They seem to think that anything remotely kinky or erotically fantastical is directly related to real world exploitation.
If it wasn’t so counterproductive, it’d be adorable.
Re: Waifu Uncovered Mixes Bullet-Hell With Boobies, And Even Comes With A "One Finger" Mode
@Inc Eroticism is more tasteful than the endless hordes of games in which you’re encouraged to mutilate other human beings.
Re: Waifu Uncovered Mixes Bullet-Hell With Boobies, And Even Comes With A "One Finger" Mode
@premko1 Children need boobs too.
Re: Waifu Uncovered Mixes Bullet-Hell With Boobies, And Even Comes With A "One Finger" Mode
@Kalmaro Well that’s very mature and politically correct of you, Sir Knight.
So...why are you here exactly?
Re: Nintendo Issues Statement Following Allegations Of Abuse By Former EVO CEO
Okay. So are these currently just allegations? Has the man been proven guilty of this?
If these are only at the stage of allegations, I think maybe everyone should slow down a bit, before crucifying the man.
Suspension until investigators can establish the facts.

@COVIDberry The difference is a kid talking obvious nonsense on a forum, and a worryingly large number of people here genuinely calling for him to be punished, as if he actually was a terrorist.
There is a very, very big difference.

@COVIDberry No, it wouldn’t. Perhaps if he was the head of a known terrorist operation, or the leader of a political movement. Don’t be so bloody ridiculous.
Re: 16-Year-Old Student Arrested For Allegedly Threatening To "Blow Up Konami’s Headquarters"
@Jimmy_G_Buckets Yeah, you just chuck away your freedom of speech over a kid talking crap on a forum.
You’re an idiot too. Well done.
Re: 16-Year-Old Student Arrested For Allegedly Threatening To "Blow Up Konami’s Headquarters"
@graysoncharles @smithpa01 Congratulations—you guys are idiots.
Re: 16-Year-Old Student Arrested For Allegedly Threatening To "Blow Up Konami’s Headquarters"
@Souflee Agreed—the people spewing such nonsense have no brains.
Re: 16-Year-Old Student Arrested For Allegedly Threatening To "Blow Up Konami’s Headquarters"
What a load of overblown stupidity.
So nobody in this comment section has ever said anything stupid, OTT, or inappropriate as teenagers before?
FFS, people, honestly. He’s 16, griping hyperbole about a videogame. Pretty normal stuff. Konami ‘strengthening’ security over this?
Laughably pathetic.

Re: Watch A Christopher Nolan Film In Fortnite's Party Royale Mode This Friday
@JohnnyC I dunno. It’s Christopher Nolan. I think at this point he can demand pretty much whatever he wants.
Re: Watch A Christopher Nolan Film In Fortnite's Party Royale Mode This Friday
Dumb AF. Kind of ashamed of Nolan on this, tbh. Really tacky.

So I’ll pass.

Not sure how Beyoncé is remotely relevant to Zelda.
You could reference literally anything with regard to wedding rings. Pointless opening.

YES.
A sensible decision.
Re: Zoink Teams Up With EA To Release Lost In Random On Switch Next Year

The Laika of Indie videogames.
Re: Nintendo Clamps Down On The Sale Of Characters And Items In Animal Crossing: New Horizons For Real Money
@johnvboy The issue isn’t whether there’s a difference. Obviously this isn’t actual animal trafficking. I never said that.
The issue is referencing a horrific, illegal practice that causes untold suffering to millions of living creatures, for the sake of a crappy pun.
As I said— distasteful.
Re: Nintendo Clamps Down On The Sale Of Characters And Items In Animal Crossing: New Horizons For Real Money
Pretty distasteful to use a pun like ‘Animal trafficking’, when the actual practice causes so much pain and suffering to living creatures.
Tone deaf and ignorant.
Re: UK Retailers Guilty Of Inflating Nintendo Switch Prices As Stock Remains Elusive
@johnvboy How is this not profiteering exactly?

@Donutman ‘Story wise they both great’
If there’s one thing you should not play Bayonetta for, it’s story...
Action gameplay, yeah. But the story is downright laughable.

@Grot Until you have evidence that supports such a claim, maybe it’s better to give the victims the benefit of the doubt?
If someone claims to be assaulted the first line of enquiry isn’t, ‘How do we know you aren’t making this up?’
Re: China Bans Sales Of Animal Crossing: New Horizons In Suspected Censorship Scuffle

The only thing that could possibly make up for all that stupidity would be a Nier: Automata sequel, with a Switch port of the original as well.
Otherwise I don’t want to talk about it.
Re: Hideki Kamiya Explains PlatinumGames' Disappointing April Fools' Joke
@nessisonett The purpose of jokes isn’t to annoy people.
Re: Hideki Kamiya Explains PlatinumGames' Disappointing April Fools' Joke
Platinum Games definitely needs a PR barrier to stop dumb, potentially harmful decisions like this.
Between this and ‘We didn’t actually need that Kickstarter money’, they’re doing a damn good job of eroding good will or trust with supporters.
