My goodness, so many people crying about the game’s difficulty! Aww, have a tissue.
You could always go and join Anti-Matter for a game of Hello Kitty Racing?
Personally I think it’s a superb example of a future-racer, a genre which has otherwise died a death. Great mechanics, speed, gameplay, and one of the better looking games on Switch as well. I’d say it’s probably an 88%
@nessisonett I do love Idioteque and a couple of other tracks on Kid A, though OK Computer is sonically, conceptually, and lyrically far superior, in my own opinion.
But everyone is different.
@Fujin Interesting question. In terms of sheer profits? Possibly. But their home consoles have traditionally carried more weight in terms of gaming kudos. The NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube weren’t that long ago, in the grand scheme.
Then again, I argue with myself, because I love the Switch. I just lament it not being much more powerful.
@Fujin
3DS was not Nintendo’s flagship console. Also, Gamecube and N64 did not follow the philosophy of ‘affordability’, and I strongly argue that those two consoles did far more for gamers than Wii, Wii U, and Switch combined.
I don’t want visually compromised Mario and Zelda games. Neither should you. Imagine BOTW on PS4 architecture, and tell me you’d prefer to save £50 on the console price.
The Switch will find itself in the same position as the Wii did, after the release of PS5 and XBox XSX whatever it’s called.
Embarrassingly underpowered with a gimmick that’s lost its novelty, no serious 3rd party support and a handful of first party games that everyone wished were running on better hardware.
Stupid.
Must say I’m getting sick to death of Nintendo sidelining what customers want and deserve for flagrant profiteering. We made you, Nintendo. Don’t forget that.
That’s one way of viewing technology, and it is certainly valid. But the benefits we currently receive from technology are incalculably vast by comparison.
Without technology you do not have modern civilisation, which is defined by its prosperity, relative peace, medical advances, and greatly overall improved quality of life.
It’s not a black and white situation at all. If anything, at the moment the evidence points to the contrary.
@shinesprites It sounds like you are more of a major key kind of person, which is cool.
But some of us identify more strongly with minor key. Believe it or not, some people find their own comfort, even a kind of joy, in things that others might simply identify as ‘depressing.’
Have you ever seen Inside Out? Sounds like an odd reference, but it does apply here.
TBH, I often find happy things to be oddly depressing. They seem unreal to me—there’s a disconnect which I find uncomfortable. Not all the time of course. But often.
@Averagewriter Attempting to do something different and meaningful with the video game medium will be the only way to advance it.
This sounds pretty interesting to me. Whether or not it reaches any uplifting conclusions seems to be the reviewer’s main gripe. But then how often is that the case with life?
Maybe the game has achieved exactly what it set out to do.
TBH I don’t see what the problem is here. It’s not like Nintendo is offering a similar service, and anything that keeps their IP in the public conscience is good isn’t it? Looks like free advertising to me.
Nintendo could have simply hired out the license to this company. Then they could make sure things were done in a way which suited the company. Just make it official. Everyone wins.
@luke88 I live in rural Scotland, and I despise sport, not least American sport. But even I know that Kobe Bryant is a basketball player. Probably through endless NBA game releases, but nonetheless...
Still though. Until Netflix is actually available on Switch, this seems a bit like reaching around the bottom of the barrel, doesn’t it? Grasping at anything with even the slightest connection to Nintendo?
I mean, let’s say you only own a Switch or 3DS. How can Nintendo owners actually access this show?
@willi3su Really? I thought it was pretty damn good, actually! They managed to completely refresh the traditional story whilst keeping the key elements which made it so powerful in the first place—a very, very difficult thing to do.
It does help to have a decent knowledge of the history of Dracula, such as the Hammer films, Nosferatu and others, but even so I thought it was inspired and entertaining. The writing was top notch. I had a blast watching it.
On a side note, the Christmas Carol series with Guy Pearce and Andy Serkis was bloody brilliant. Similar to Dracula, it took the source material and vamped it up (no pun intended).
@NintendoLife I might be more interested in reading about a Netflix series if Netflix was available on the Switch???

Really, really good.

That headline is a bit of a mess.

@tobsesta99 You’re a pain in the ass.
Re: SoulCalibur VI Producer Still Not Sure About Porting The Game To Switch
@tobsesta99 Okay, a month or two maybe. But if the money was guaranteed, you’d have your SC on Switch.
Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Might Contain In-Game Purchases
Well that’s made my mind up.
Way too many bad decisions swirling around this. No buy for me.
Re: Review: Coffee Talk - A Refreshing Brew Indeed
This looks like a parody of a hipster game.
Bleuch.
Re: SoulCalibur VI Producer Still Not Sure About Porting The Game To Switch
@tobsesta99 You obviously care way more about this than I do, which makes the lack of this game on Switch all the more sad.
If they were paid up front you’d have that Switch port in a fortnight. Guaranteed.
Re: SoulCalibur VI Producer Still Not Sure About Porting The Game To Switch
No excuse not to. But with an attitude like that I say keep it.

Re: Switch Will Have A Longer Life Cycle Than Previous Consoles, Says Nintendo President
@NEStalgia Still running is a touch disingenuous. Technically the NES is still running, if you mean receiving new software.
3DS is all but officially dead as a dodo.
Re: Wonderful 101 Confirmed For Switch, But There's A Catch
The Platinum 4 webpage has been updated too.
Seems like they’ve got 3 more big announcements/ projects to announce.
Prepare for a Nier: Automata Switch Port Kickstarter, which I HIGHLY recommend people support!

This is a huge mistake.
The Switch will find itself in the same position as the Wii did, after the release of PS5 and XBox XSX whatever it’s called.

I think I’m going to buy this. It’s intrigued the heck out of me. Also seems like a game that some will love, some will hate in its ambiguity.
Re: Review: Mosaic - Biting Social Commentary Masquerading As A Video Game
@Averagewriter I understand where you’re coming from, but I have to ask—does being depressing not count as a purpose?

For anyone questioning the value of not answering questions, I highly recommend the works of Samuel Beckett.
‘Waiting for Godot’ and ‘Molloy’ might just blow some minds.

Speak for yourself.
Nier: Automata for me.

Re: Talking Point: How Much Is Your Video Game Collection Really Worth To You?
“Ultimately I have no regrets – I’m still convinced we’ll see them on Switch before long...”
You’re really expecting Killer 7 on Switch? Based on what evidence?
We can’t even play Ocarina of Time on it, and the Switch has been out for 3 years already!
Re: Talking Point: What's Going To Be Nintendo's Big Game For Christmas 2020?
At this point BoTW 2 is the most likely scenario for a big Nintendo Christmas release.
Bayonetta and Pikmin don’t make bank, and Mario Odyssey 2 is currently nothing more than wishful thinking.
If there’s no Zelda this Christmas, Nintendo could be in trouble.

@xpownz Nope. Just like we’ll never let Lawrence of Arabia, or King Kong, or Metropolis die. Innovative, ground-breaking works.
Ocarina is the pinnacle of 3D game design. It wrote most of the rules, and it STILL holds up as a brilliant game.

Re: Here's Your First Look At The Third Season Of Castlevania On Netflix
Not to mention the fact that Netflix isn’t a free service either.
Re: Here's Your First Look At The Third Season Of Castlevania On Netflix
@Damo I wasn’t referring to myself. I prefer to think broadly, inclusively, hypothetically.
Just seems illogical to me for a Nintendo specific site to report on products and services which aren’t accessible through Nintendo hardware.
Would you review a new Banjo Kazooie game that came out on the XBox, for example?
Re: Here's Your First Look At The Third Season Of Castlevania On Netflix
@Damo Not everyone can afford a mobile phone, Damo. You’re making a pretty big assumption there.
After all, this isn’t Nintendo and Mobile Phone Life is it?
