Re: Random: Honda Commercial Shows Mario Bros. 3 Being Played With SNES Controllers

GauBan

Not gonna point out what everyone has above about the game being Super Mario All-Stars. Or that the Mini series controllers all work the same.

However to say that you can't play a SNES on a HDMI is very wrong (this is without using something like RetroPi and a downloaded ROM)

  • They could be using a SCART to HDMI adapter.
  • Using a modern clone console like a RetroN 5 or Retro Freak which all work with the original controllers (and 8Bitdo controllers) and carts.

Re: Near-Identical Fake Switch Pro Controllers Are Now On The Market

GauBan

@premko1 I find Hori controllers all use a dpad that feels off, not as bad as PowerA ones but still off.

The Pokken pad is cheaper because it has no analogue sticks and is wired. Which is OK for a dedicated "game specific" controller. But I prefer a general use one that os great for every instance

Re: Random: DK Bongos Are The Perfect Substitute For Hori Taiko Drum Controller

GauBan

@Ralizah Yeah a single hit will also be accepted as a double hit.

@Heavyarms55 the bongos are seen a pro controller to the Switch and the 4 hit areas are just the A,B,X,Y buttons. Two buttons work as center (red) and the other as the side (blue). Depending which option you use you can have it a single drum for each or you can you can play single handed rocking between top and bottom of the drum.

Re: Hori Taiko Drum Controller Won’t Be Released In The West, But Here's Where You Can Get One

GauBan

@jobvd you can use one set of Konga Bongos with the game with the help of the GC adaper. The bongos run as a Pro Controller but only with the 4 face buttons, A,B,X,Y

I did send a tweet to the guys here but they didn't pick it up.
https://twitter.com/GauBan/status/1020011578400366592

However you can only use one set of Bongos as it uses the JoyCon for the D-pad when scrolling through the menus.

Re: Hori Taiko Drum Controller Won’t Be Released In The West

GauBan

@Pablo17 I would say why? but we know the answer. The games pushes for people to play the game on the go or using the motion controls to cover it.

Also we know they don't feel that enough units will shift to warrent the drum controller being released in the west. Just jump online and import from Japan or Asia.

Re: Hori's D-Pad Joy-Con Controllers Are Eating Up That Precious Switch Battery Life

GauBan

I've ordered one and am waiting for it arrive. But I hope that it will be delayed now this issue has been found. Because I can't see how Hori can supply and update to the unit unless they send everyone an adapter cable to allow the mushed USB port of the controller to be connected to a PC for update. Or work with Nintendo to create an update that can be pushed out as an update to the Switch like the standard JoyCon updates.

And that is even if the units are upgradable at all.

Re: Hori's D-Pad Joy-Con Controllers Are Eating Up That Precious Switch Battery Life

GauBan

@Rhaoulos it's not a JoyCon, as Nintendo will not allow other to product actual JoyCon clones with all the features included. This is just a way to give a improved D-Pad to the switch in handheld mode when playing fighting games.

Anyone who plays fighting games in desktop or docked would use a pro controller, 8BitDo controller (Their dpad is perfect is a perfect clone of the SNES/NES one) or an arcade stick.

Re: Datamined Logo Provides Further Evidence For Western Taiko Drum Master Release

GauBan

I played the demo while waiting for my copy to arrive from Japan from one supplier and the drum from another.

So I tried the Donkey Konga drums with the GC adapter. They work fine but you can't play local multiplayer with them. It also works on the full game.

As for the English language. This will be a patch in the start of August for it's release in Asia.

Re: Bloodstained: Curse Of The Moon Made Over Half Its Sales On Switch

GauBan

@moroboshi they have had a number of the codes. Last time I heard from them they are still waiting on EU and US Switch codes.

But FanGamers communication is very lacking they didn't tell people that some codes had been released (Like EU PS4). I only found that out because I had the FanGamer site up at the time. Same with the delay of the codes in general. They didn't tell anyone for a couple of days that they had given out Steam trial codes.

Re: Review: Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (Switch eShop)

GauBan

Well as of writing this I have 8 days left on on my Steam code for this game. As the backer codes for my PS4 and Switch versions have been delayed.

#Quick update #
PS4 codes have now been distributed to backers, without tell us. Still waiting on Switch codes.

Re: Hardware Review: SwitchCharge Boosts Your Nintendo Switch Battery Life Fourfold

GauBan

"It's also worth noting that the SwitchCharge is not a dock, and won't potentially brick your Switch if you're on update 5.0 or higher."

It's not just docks that can brick a Switch. If it does not follow Nintendo's implementation of USB 3 standards or uses USB 2.0 power without the 56K Ohms resister between it and the Switch then there is a risk it can brick your Switch.

But reading the claims on the Indie Go Go and that they talk about how you can "Quick Charge" the switch this would suggest they are using a power standard more in line with the Switch's own PSU. Either Power Delivery or similar.

Re: Nintendo Has Created An Official Charging Stand For The Switch

GauBan

@kaffepapu thing is this isn't even a charger. It's a stand with a USB C angle adapter on it. They don't even supply the charger with it (but no doubt if they did the price would be $40/50 or so).

So no doubt they will recommend using the official Switch PSU, which I'm guessing for most people is already strapped into an entertainment centre (or just knotted up) attached to the original dock. As 3rd party chargers could damage your console.

But it does make you wonder if they added the 56K Ohm resister to this to safeguard your console from damage by chargers.

Re: Nintendo Has Created An Official Charging Stand For The Switch

GauBan

A nice small dock. But I question the stability of it with the console attached as the small footprint means the Switch overhangs on the sides meaning it could possible be knocked off easily. Also it doesn't seem to have any USB A ports meaning that you can't attach any accessories like an ethernet adapter or wired controller.

Re: Miitomo, Nintendo's Original Mobile App, Passes Away

GauBan

@Stocksy Nintendo UK store are not stocking any New 3DS units and only have 1 New 3DS XL unit for sale (Happy Home Academy bundle). But you can't find it using their drop-downs instead you need to search 3DS and then choose the 3DS XL unit. or go to Nintendo UK Store and end with "/new-nintendo-3ds-xl/consoles.list"

Re: Yo-Kai Watch 4 Coming To The Nintendo Switch This Year In Japan

GauBan

@daiikon yeah the popularity of the series has dropped heavily in Japan. But unfortunately that was expected they pushed too many games in such a short period of time while also fighting the Pokemon revival that happened.

I would be nice for all the games to be released in the west but I feel the that there just isn't the following.

Re: Yo-Kai Watch 4 Coming To The Nintendo Switch This Year In Japan

GauBan

@the_beaver This might not be a system seller for Switch. There has been a decline in interest of Yo-Kai Watch in Japan over the last year or so. They've even shut a number of the Yo-Kai Watch stores. Which you then compare with the fact they seem to be open opening new Pokemon Centres every couple of months at the momment.

Also the new darker look of the anime (Created for when they had the collaboration film with GeGeGe no Kitaro) which I'm gonna guess mirrors the 4th games style is something that has pushed away a number of fans as well.
