@foodmetaphors so they are also adversing a gentle ride so that disk doesn't get scratched? So many layers to this advert it's almost the M.C. Escher of motor vehicle adverts.
@Sgt-Jack-V they've been blinded by too much of the 8/16 bit graphics being released on retro style games. Now any game with 2D sprites is a 8bit game to them. The poor souls need to be sent to play proper retro games to re-learn the difference.
@Silly_G but more often than not if a game gets an Asia release it will have English subs.
But also a number of Japanese developers do put English language into their games so that they can claim the tax breaks offered by the Japanese government.
@Jawessome the English patch was happening before the western release announced. This was due to the game releasing in Asia this month and games in Asia always come with an English language option.
As for the Japan language options on the international release. I'm sure it will be in the game because it makes sense to have it there.
@jobvd I've only ever done it using both USB cables from the GC adapter going into the Switch. You should see a pro controller operational and you can test the inputs by going to console settings and testing inputs.
@premko1 I find Hori controllers all use a dpad that feels off, not as bad as PowerA ones but still off.
The Pokken pad is cheaper because it has no analogue sticks and is wired. Which is OK for a dedicated "game specific" controller. But I prefer a general use one that os great for every instance
@premko1 Better to buy the 8BitDo SN30/SF30 Pro controller. Great dpad and feels very similar to a SNES pad, wireless, works on a load of devices and has all features of official pro controller apart from HD rumble (has standard rumble) and the NFC reader.
@Ralizah Yeah a single hit will also be accepted as a double hit.
@Heavyarms55 the bongos are seen a pro controller to the Switch and the 4 hit areas are just the A,B,X,Y buttons. Two buttons work as center (red) and the other as the side (blue). Depending which option you use you can have it a single drum for each or you can you can play single handed rocking between top and bottom of the drum.
@jobvd yep Smash GC adapter. The game is playable you just need to use the JoyCon as your Dpad.
2 sets of Bongos will register but not got them both working to play in game as without a Dpad you can't pick the player 2 options. Even with Joycons removed. Maybe I will try to get dual Bongos working again tonight if not busy.
@jobvd you can use one set of Konga Bongos with the game with the help of the GC adaper. The bongos run as a Pro Controller but only with the 4 face buttons, A,B,X,Y
@Pablo17 I would say why? but we know the answer. The games pushes for people to play the game on the go or using the motion controls to cover it.
Also we know they don't feel that enough units will shift to warrent the drum controller being released in the west. Just jump online and import from Japan or Asia.
I've ordered one and am waiting for it arrive. But I hope that it will be delayed now this issue has been found. Because I can't see how Hori can supply and update to the unit unless they send everyone an adapter cable to allow the mushed USB port of the controller to be connected to a PC for update. Or work with Nintendo to create an update that can be pushed out as an update to the Switch like the standard JoyCon updates.
And that is even if the units are upgradable at all.
@Rhaoulos it's not a JoyCon, as Nintendo will not allow other to product actual JoyCon clones with all the features included. This is just a way to give a improved D-Pad to the switch in handheld mode when playing fighting games.
Anyone who plays fighting games in desktop or docked would use a pro controller, 8BitDo controller (Their dpad is perfect is a perfect clone of the SNES/NES one) or an arcade stick.
@SmaggTheSmug well the taiko drum controller comes out this week and there are numerous different keyboards. I think all we need is a fishing rode controller that Namco Bandai can bring out with a Switch port of Baku Tsuri Bar Hunter and an exercise bike to put the Switch into the top spot.
@Nincompoop why redesign part of the system when you can just obtain the newer apu off nVidia that is built to the same specification but block the USB port exploit? The chips will be the newer versions that have already been seen identified in the Switch code a Tegra 214 instead of a Tegra 210.
@moroboshi they have had a number of the codes. Last time I heard from them they are still waiting on EU and US Switch codes.
But FanGamers communication is very lacking they didn't tell people that some codes had been released (Like EU PS4). I only found that out because I had the FanGamer site up at the time. Same with the delay of the codes in general. They didn't tell anyone for a couple of days that they had given out Steam trial codes.
"It's also worth noting that the SwitchCharge is not a dock, and won't potentially brick your Switch if you're on update 5.0 or higher."
It's not just docks that can brick a Switch. If it does not follow Nintendo's implementation of USB 3 standards or uses USB 2.0 power without the 56K Ohms resister between it and the Switch then there is a risk it can brick your Switch.
But reading the claims on the Indie Go Go and that they talk about how you can "Quick Charge" the switch this would suggest they are using a power standard more in line with the Switch's own PSU. Either Power Delivery or similar.
@kaffepapu thing is this isn't even a charger. It's a stand with a USB C angle adapter on it. They don't even supply the charger with it (but no doubt if they did the price would be $40/50 or so).
So no doubt they will recommend using the official Switch PSU, which I'm guessing for most people is already strapped into an entertainment centre (or just knotted up) attached to the original dock. As 3rd party chargers could damage your console.
But it does make you wonder if they added the 56K Ohm resister to this to safeguard your console from damage by chargers.
A nice small dock. But I question the stability of it with the console attached as the small footprint means the Switch overhangs on the sides meaning it could possible be knocked off easily. Also it doesn't seem to have any USB A ports meaning that you can't attach any accessories like an ethernet adapter or wired controller.
@Stocksy Nintendo UK store are not stocking any New 3DS units and only have 1 New 3DS XL unit for sale (Happy Home Academy bundle). But you can't find it using their drop-downs instead you need to search 3DS and then choose the 3DS XL unit. or go to Nintendo UK Store and end with "/new-nintendo-3ds-xl/consoles.list"
@daiikon yeah the popularity of the series has dropped heavily in Japan. But unfortunately that was expected they pushed too many games in such a short period of time while also fighting the Pokemon revival that happened.
I would be nice for all the games to be released in the west but I feel the that there just isn't the following.
@Lumine I have heard rumours that we are getting a Nintendo Classic GameBoy unit around October. There is also a Classics N64 in the pipe for maybe Christmas.
@the_beaver This might not be a system seller for Switch. There has been a decline in interest of Yo-Kai Watch in Japan over the last year or so. They've even shut a number of the Yo-Kai Watch stores. Which you then compare with the fact they seem to be open opening new Pokemon Centres every couple of months at the momment.
Also the new darker look of the anime (Created for when they had the collaboration film with GeGeGe no Kitaro) which I'm gonna guess mirrors the 4th games style is something that has pushed away a number of fans as well.

Re: Random: Honda Commercial Shows Mario Bros. 3 Being Played With SNES Controllers
Not gonna point out what everyone has above about the game being Super Mario All-Stars. Or that the Mini series controllers all work the same.
However to say that you can't play a SNES on a HDMI is very wrong (this is without using something like RetroPi and a downloaded ROM)

I've had game since launch. I always enjoy the Taiko Drum games.
But you've all seen my #LengendaryStairs from when it came out that the Kongo Bongos could be used.
Re: Gallery: Unboxing Retro-Bit's Incredible R-Type And Holy Diver Limited Editions
Why did they not point about the even more limited white Holy Diver and Blue R-Type carts?
Also Castlemania Games is the seller's of the US carts. But you can get EU carts from https://www.dragonbox.de/en (these are the official EU supplier)
They also still have white Holy Diver carts when I last checked.
Re: Hori Taiko Drum Controller Won’t Be Released In The West, But Here's Where You Can Get One
@jobvd I've only ever done it using both USB cables from the GC adapter going into the Switch. You should see a pro controller operational and you can test the inputs by going to console settings and testing inputs.
Using the drums will give you A,B,X & Y.
Re: Near-Identical Fake Switch Pro Controllers Are Now On The Market
@premko1 another reason why I prefer the 8BitDo one a great alrounder meaning I can play any game with it.
But I do have all 3 variants of the Hori Pokken controller.
Re: Near-Identical Fake Switch Pro Controllers Are Now On The Market
@premko1 I find Hori controllers all use a dpad that feels off, not as bad as PowerA ones but still off.

Re: Near-Identical Fake Switch Pro Controllers Are Now On The Market
@AxeltheBuizel I always have 2 in my bag. SF30 Pro & Sn30 Pro. I'm also awaiting on my delivery of the just released GameBoy version.

Re: Random: DK Bongos Are The Perfect Substitute For Hori Taiko Drum Controller
@RadioShadow yeah navigation is done with a separate controller. I just keep a Joycon out to traverse the menus.
Downside is that at this moment I have not managed to get it working in 2 player using 2 bongos.
Re: Random: DK Bongos Are The Perfect Substitute For Hori Taiko Drum Controller
@Ralizah Yeah a single hit will also be accepted as a double hit.

Re: Hori Taiko Drum Controller Won’t Be Released In The West, But Here's Where You Can Get One
@NicolausCamp does mean you can play 2 player.
Re: Hori Taiko Drum Controller Won’t Be Released In The West, But Here's Where You Can Get One
@NicolausCamp @Folkloner @KayFiOS just use the Donkey Konga bongos with the GameCube adapter.
Re: Hori Taiko Drum Controller Won’t Be Released In The West, But Here's Where You Can Get One

I did send a tweet to the guys here but they didn't pick it up.
https://twitter.com/GauBan/status/1020011578400366592
However you can only use one set of Bongos as it uses the JoyCon for the D-pad when scrolling through the menus.

Re: Datamined Logo Provides Further Evidence For Western Taiko Drum Master Release
I played the demo while waiting for my copy to arrive from Japan from one supplier and the drum from another.
So I tried the Donkey Konga drums with the GC adapter. They work fine but you can't play local multiplayer with them. It also works on the full game.
As for the English language. This will be a patch in the start of August for it's release in Asia.
