At the start of July, the Australian Classification Board rated Taiko: Drum Master - seemingly guaranteeing a western release. Then, last week, three European listings popped up out of the blue.
Now, a dataminer sifting through the Japanese version of the game has found files for Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun!, including an English logo. The Japanese release will have an English language option added to it next month, so it would make sense for this logo to be present in the game, but all of these signs are giving more and more weight to the idea of an eventual western release.

While you wait, be sure to head over to the Japanese eShop and download the demo of the game.
Would you like to play Taiko: Drum Master? Have you tried out the demo available on the Japanese eShop yet? Tell us in the comments.

YAAAAS!! It's just a matter of time now.
These DATAMINES articles must end NINTENDOLIFE.
I was going to get it from the Japanese eShop but now I'm waiting for the western release since it's pretty much confirmed. I've tried out the demo and it's certainly fun. The game has some trouble registering hits correctly when using motion controls but I was able to get used to it after playing the two songs couple of times. You need to be pretty precise with the movements but I don't know if it's possible to be as precise when playing on harder difficulty levels. I would like to try the game with the drum controller.
I love data mining articles...
No sarcasm. Get some interesting heads up before officially announced.
Perfect in the spoiler generation
@Late for me it's a buy only with the drum controller. The motion controls are not precise enough.
The demo is fun if you don't use the motion controls, they only work on lower difficulty levels.
-But I'm very excited!
Nice move, finally this weird & fun title again will be accessible for western gamers. As for me I've played enough of this series on Wii & Wii U and wouldn't buy another pair of controllers, my shelfs are full of drums already - Taiko, DK bongos & GH stand with cymbals. Would be cool if you can reuse those old ones from Wii era.
tell you what would be cool, if they got the DK bongos working with this! not sure if possible due to commands but they have the same Gamecube port as the Smash controllers which work
Well, they were localising it in English for a patch to the ASIA version in August anyway. So I imagine that this game will officially be announced for the west in an early August Direct, along with some other mid tier games to fill out the fall lineup. Wouldn't be surprised if we get a Smash character reveal then as well.
I'm just hoping the Drum makes its way over too. Would like to avoid import costs if I can. Lol
Looking forward to this one being released worldwide for once.
I almost bit the bullet with getting the drum kit with the game but I wasn't quite sure how I was going to deal with the dlc.
If a localised version does come out, hope we get the same set of songs and dlc.
@Cosats Nah, I think they'll stay here. It could just have easily said "Rumor" and the result is the same.
@Regpuppy I would be shocked if they don't release the drum also.
I wonder if I can use my PS4 Taiko drums on the Switch(I bought them in Taiwan, because I'm handsome and travel the world).
@kobashi100
Depends if they do it like with the recent Project Diva releases for PS4. I've had to import my controllers for it even with physical/digital releases so we might not get the drum.
I played the demo while waiting for my copy to arrive from Japan from one supplier and the drum from another.
So I tried the Donkey Konga drums with the GC adapter. They work fine but you can't play local multiplayer with them. It also works on the full game.
As for the English language. This will be a patch in the start of August for it's release in Asia.
I still have to keep this from dropping off my radar. Waiting for a real Western release to happen if possible....importing sucks.
I cannot wait for this! Please come soon as this will be a hoot at get togethers
@kobashi100 Would definitely make sense to bring it over! But I've learned to be pessimistic with Japanese games and their peripherals. They don't always bring everything over because they fear lack of sales. Lol
Tried the Japanese demo and enjoyed it, so I will be watching for an English release and/or patch!
@Eef I can't blame you. I've been eyeing that Playasia page for awhile and it's maddening. I'm desperately hoping it's officially announced in August, and comes out shortly after. >.<
@Eef I understand, friend. I too stop looking at prices of things I already bought. XD
