Re: Nintendo Outlines Splatoon's Free Post-Launch Content

So I've seen a number of people saying things like "Oh great free stuff" "It's nice that they are giving free DLC."

I don't see it that way. A) They have a game, they either had a deadline and couldn't make it so changed plans to put out missing content later (OK it is free rather than what other devs have done in the past).

Or B) they plan to give you free then you feel more happy to pay for more DLC later.

Time will tell.

£31.49 for the digital version which doesn't have the Inkling squid Amiibo?

I'm only paying £37.86 for the physical version with the squid Amiibo. It's OK I'll play the demo but keep to my current purchase plans. Plus some are selling the physical media (No Amiibo) for about £33. I do low how it's always a higher price for digital.

@Starwolf_UK It's my understanding that StreetPass Relay only uses the MAC Address of the hotspots wireless card and the SSID is only used so that the 3DS can look for hotspots which it should be allowed to connect to for free.

This is how HomePass works by you just needing to change the MAC address of the wireless card to the matching one for the HomePass area you want to use. Also why you can get hits from Nintendo World in NY using the MAC address 00:25:9C:52:1C:6A

It's also the reason how you can create your own StreetPass hotspot by setting up any router/Phone/PC with wireless network share where you can set the SSID. Let your 3DS try to use it a couple of times over about 3 days and the wireless MAC is added. I used to do this before HomePass started and Nintendo were doing the Extended StreetPass Relay back a couple of years ago. It was great 6 hits for every route/phone I ran as a StreetPass hotspot. Could just sit at home and get 27 hits every 8 hours using 4 3DS and 4 hotspots.
