Re: Talking Point: The Super Smash Bros. 3DS Demo Has Been an Easy Triumph for Nintendo

GamerZack87

"As a promotion it's particularly clever — target your most enthusiastic consumers and give them the means to share their excitement."

I wonder...did this promotion skip Australia entirely? If Nintendo really was targeting its elite CN members, then either they did skip Oceania (again) or I guess I'm not an elite (21,250 Stars and 116 registered items including one of each home console and two of each handheld console since CN's Aussie debut).

Re: Feature: The Nintendo 64 Controller and the Rise of 3D Gaming

GamerZack87

@Kirk (#9) Well said. I have to agree whole-heartedly with every single point.

I remember back in the day, I couldn't quite figure out how to hold the N64 Controller; I spent years holding the left prong and stretching my thumb across to the Analog Stick before I thought to hold the centre prong!

Re: Gallery: It's OK, We Want Each And Every One Of These Gorgeous New 3DS Cover Plates Too

GamerZack87

I'm not sure how many other people realise this, but I figured out that the consoles come with a set of plates pre-installed (plain white or plain black), so there are technically 40 different designs at launch!

As for which ones I'd pick...I guess I'd choose the plain ones: green, magenta, turquoise, yellow, purple, brown, red and blue. The cyan-coloured Mario-themed design is neat too, as is the metallic Mario one.

Re: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS Step Up With More Outfit Variations

GamerZack87

@Grumblevolcano @dinosauryoshi I've been wondering the same thing for a while, too. The way I see it, it'll be Green, Pink, Cyan, Yellow, Red and Blue, plus either Purple and Orange or Black and White. The latter two appear in so many Mario spin-off titles; for that reason, as well as a nod to the Yoshi's Island series and Super Mario Sunshine, I think Purple Yoshi and Orange Yoshi deserve a chance to shine...erm, excuse the pun.

Of course, the ultimate outcome would be Yoshi being a special case, receiving 12 colour variations (Green, Pink, Cyan, Yellow, Purple, Orange, Red, Blue, Black, White, Magenta and Brown): Every Yoshi in one game for the very first time!

Re: Video: This is a Video Game

GamerZack87

I still remember that Christmas morning, all the way back in 1997, when my brother and I found a shiny new Nintendo 64 under the tree. It not only jump-started my love of gaming, but also caused me to bond with quite possibly my favourite Marioverse character(s), Yoshi.

Re: Nintendo Download: 21st August (Europe)

GamerZack87

Wow, that's not a bad price for WDC, and just when I was getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh! too!

"this fourth and final entry on the venerable portable"
@ThomasBW84 But...I thought they made five MM games for Game Boy. My collection plan is mapped out to accommodate five games!

Re: The Pokémon Trading Card Game Is Coming To iPad This Year

GamerZack87

For years I've thought a spiritual successor to Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Card GB 2: Here Comes Team GR! would be fantastic on the Nintendo DS or 3DS. It seems as though the closest we're likely to get to a new installment on DS is the Learn-to-Play software included in the Japanese BW Hajimete Set +.

As for the iPad software, if it really is a portable version of the TCGO, then awesome! I'm all for it!

Re: The Virtual Boy is 19 Years Old, Probably Hasn't Received a Celebratory Cake

GamerZack87

"For a number of years it was left ignored by Nintendo, airbrushed from history"

@ThomasBW84 It did make an appearance in Pokémon Gold and Silver as a hidden room decoration, however. The only way to get one is through Mystery Gift, so I imagine only a handful of lucky Trainers managed to get their hands on one.

"It doesn't have a European anniversary to celebrate, as it never had a release in the region."

That's why I'd never heard of it until the early 00's, when I was reading my bro's Pokémon Crystal strategy guide: I was reading up about all the goodies you could earn for your bedroom through Mystery Gift, and amongst the assortment of consoles from the venerable NES to the classic Nintendo 64, I saw the words "Virtual Boy". For a long time I wondered what these two words meant, only to eventually discover the truth.

Now I'd like to see these games released on 3DS as either VC titles or 3D Classics, possibly with optional full-colour mode.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Ambitious amiibo Plans - Pros and Cons

GamerZack87

I'm pumped for amiibo for sure! I'm even contemplating not getting the next Skylanders game so I can collect some of these instead.

For the Super Smash Bros. series of figures, I'll likely only get one character from each franchise, unless there are two in a franchise which I really like. If a franchise only has one representative, such as Yoshi or Villager, it makes my decision very easy. And as for Wii Fit Trainer...well, I'm currently undecided.

Re: Weirdness: Yoshi's Real Name Is Both Silly and Scientific

GamerZack87

By the way, does anybody have any classic guides or manuals which specifically state that Bowser's Minions the Koopalings are Bowser's children?! From what I recall the most recent manuals to state this fact are the ones for SMA2 and SMA4, so just a decade ago they were, at least in the west, Bowser's kids. So:

Yoshi = Dinosaur? Yes.
Koopalings = Bowser's kids? Yes.
Waluigi = Related to Wario? Uh...I guess that one's still a mystery among mysteries.

Re: Gallery: A Closer Look At 13 amiibo Toys

GamerZack87

From that list I'd choose: Mario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox and Villager; the reason being that I'd only like one character from each franchise in amiibo form, and I've already ear-marked Toon Link as my representative for The Legend of Zelda. I did want Marth, but since Lucina and Robin were revealed I may change my mind.
