Re: Retailer Listings and Comic-Con Reveal New Figures for Skylanders Swap Force

GamerZack87

Wait...so Pop Thorn is actually called Gasteroid? BWAHAHAHAHA! I'm looking forward to picking up the Tower of Time Adventure Pack more than I was before! These punny names are so...punny!

Crud! SWAP Force's release is only three months away...and I still don't have a Wii U! Plus there are gaps in my collection! D:

@Katzii: I doubt they would work on older Skylanders games. The programming for LightCore characters is only in the game that introduced them due to the special features, which is why LC PB, Eruptor, Hex and Drobot only work in Giants and future games.

Re: Weirdness: Zelda Answers Rejected on Jeopardy, Hearts are Broken

GamerZack87

@retro_player_22: True, but they were asking for the name of the game that started the entire franchise.

Personally, I think that's entirely reasonable. In many game shows details are crucial, and Jeopardy! seems to be the type of show that needs answers to be specific. I don't know if other questions need such accurate answers since I've never watched it. The only show I've watched that accepts incomplete answers is Weakest Link.

Re: Feature: When it Comes to Games, What's in a Name?

GamerZack87

If you ask me, the European names of the SPMP minigames have better rings than the NA ones. StreetPass Quest sounds so much more epic than "Find Mii". This makes the rest of them sound better thematically rather than the jumbled mess of names in North America.

@Dev: You are correct about that. Several characters in the Mega Man series are named after music styles:

Mega (Mega Man) = His Japanese name, Rock, is derived from rock music.
Roll = Mega's sister, so together they are Rock & Roll. Her name makes no sense in English, though.
Proto Man = In Japan he's known as Blues.
Bass = The name speaks for itself.

Those are some examples.

Re: Weirdness: Picking an Original Pokémon Starter, Always a Tough Call

GamerZack87

According to the Pokémon Adventures manga (which is apparently the closest interpretation of the game's story), Red ended up picking Bulbasaur, which is my favourite Gen I starter; my second favourite is Charmander, which was chosen by Blue Oak. In fact, I've noticed a repeating pattern with my preferred starters in each new generation of games:

GEN I: Bulbasaur > Charmander
GEN II: Cyndaquil > Totodile
GEN III: Mudkip > Treecko
GEN IV: Turtwig > Chimchar
GEN V: Tepig = Oshawott + Pansage

It muddles up a little in Gen V since I like both Tepig and Oshawott equally, but since Pansage is my favourite monkey I chose Tepig in White and Oshawott in White 2. Gen VI throws the pattern completely off-course as I like all three starters exactly the same! Pokémon X will mark the toughest time I've had choosing a starter Pokémon in a long time!

Re: CoroCoro Reveals Details on New and Existing Pokemon

GamerZack87

@Drainos: Well then, I guess there's no question about which version you've picked.

I usually tend to choose the version which has the more appealing version-exclusive Pokémon to me, which at this stage is X. I prefer Xerneas to Yveltal since its theme is much more preferable, Clauncher to Skrelp since I like the colour azure and crustacea, and Swirlix to Spritzee since fairy-floss (cotton candy) is enjoyable in moderation.

Also, hooray for the confirmation of Professor Sycamore's English name! Keep the researchers named after trees!

Re: CoroCoro Reveals Details on New and Existing Pokemon

GamerZack87

@Drainos: You mean you forgot about Murkrow and Honchkrow?!

I read a rumour that to evolve Inkay into Malimar you need to rotate the 3DS upside-down as it levels up. If so, that is pretty cool! Also, it's more likely that the professor will be named Sycamore in English based on his Japanese name, which was a rumoured researcher's name if I recall correctly.

Re: Feature: Taking A Look Back At The Nintendo 64 Rumble Pak

GamerZack87

I never had the chance to use the Rumble Pak. It only came bundled with Metroid Prime Pinball in Australia, and I never got around to getting...whuzzat? Oh, we're talking about the Nintendo 64 Rumble Pak! I thought you said "Nintendo DS-teefour"...whatever that is.

Anyway, I remember the good times playing Lylat Wars with the Rumble Pak, the rewarding vibration that came with blowing up the Sarumarine or preventing Independence Day from being filmed on Katina. I also wanted to try out the rumble features in Ocarina but I never figured out how to find the Stone of Agony.

Re: Soapbox: Why We Should Expect More From The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker HD

GamerZack87

And once again the option I want to vote for in the poll isn't listed.

Wind Waker is one of my favourite GCN games by far, but unfortunately I lost my copy during the big move interstate. Picking up this remake once I have my shiny new Wii U will be a wise decision. Basically, it'll be replacing my missing copy.

Also, it's "Hyrulean", not Hyrulian. A common misspelling to be sure - even my Choose Your Own Adventure-styled Oracle of Ages novella had it spelled Hyrulian on the back cover!

Re: Over 200,000 Gamers Have Bought StreetPass Mii Plaza DLC

GamerZack87

@KongFu: I noticed that too. My guess is either Nintendo had a fifth game lined up but canned it; or Nintendo is working on another game, perhaps even a free one.

@OldMan-Tech: I agree. I sometimes walk in excess of 10,000 steps when I go out, so I should be earning as many as 100 Play Coins for my effort!
