Re: Review: Mario Kart DS (Wii U eShop / DS)

GamerZack87

@Phantom_R 99% of my Mario Kart experience is single-player, since I only get to meet up with my friend twice a year at most. Still, I have a lot of fun playing each MK title, even without other human drivers on the track.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains Why Tingle is Such a Peculiar Character

GamerZack87

I just ignore the haters. Tingle is an important part of the franchise, and it wouldn't be the same without him.

@AlexOlney I'm curious. What makes you say he's not human?

@bezerker99 The only reason (well, an only reason) I haven't grown up yet is because everyone I know who doesn't know my real age thinks I'm a teenager. I doubt they'd believe that I'm an 80's baby if I told them.

Re: Nintendo to Introduce Free Software With NES and SNES Experiences Activated Through amiibo

GamerZack87

@sleepinglion Actually, the amiibo situation here is not really that great. In addition to every preorder opportunity being completely gone in mere days (or faster depending on the character), there is very little left of wave 1, with the occasional Mario and Pikachu looking lonely on shelves. With the few Link amiibo which are floating around, however, there may yet be hope of an influx of restocks.

@ThomasBW84 I couldn't understand this part:
"demand has often outstripped demand"
I believe @Retro_on_theGo noticed the same thing.

Re: Ocarina Of Time 3D Reportedly No Longer In Production

GamerZack87

I've gone digital on both my 3DS and Wii U consoles, and I haven't looked back. Having said that, I'm holding off on getting Ocarina of Time 3D until I finally obtain my New Nintendo 3DS console(s). There's no sense in upgrading to a bigger SD Card when it's microSD Cards that I'd be needing, is there?

Re: This Is What Happened When A Kid Pitched Super Mario Bros. 4 To Nintendo 25 Years Ago

GamerZack87

When I was younger, I sent some ideas to Nintendo Australia, the centrepiece being an all-in-one game player in the shape of a Koopa Troopa, which could fold into a shell that would open up, revealing a screen and buttons for an N64 game player; the Main Menu was a hall filled with paintings, and you could move Mario around and jump into them, with each painting leading to a different game. I was very pleased with my ideas and sent them immediately.

Some time later I received a package from Nintendo Australia containing a letter much like the one above, my ideas and some neat Nintendo goodies (I can't remember everything I got, but I do remember receiving some plastic Pokémon Snap cards, which I assume were useable at some kind of print kiosk). Even though I was disappointed that my idea was rejected for being "unsolicited", I was happy that they took the time to read it. And my ideas have ended up taking shape, albeit in different forms (Nintendo DS and Virtual Console), so I guess great minds think alike.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Had a Strong Start With amiibo, But Evolution's a Priority for 2015

GamerZack87

As far as I'm aware, there is a complete and utter amiibo drought in Australia, which is ridiculous as we often get one kind of drought and don't need a second, as that would affect two very important demographics of people: farmers and Nintendo gamers.

In all seriousness, I'm starting to doubt the possibility of - and futility in - trying to find the amiibo I most wanted to have in my collection. Compared with many of you, my collection is rather lacking: Mario, Pikachu and Kirby. Out of those, two of them are the only three amiibo I've found on shelves since December, and the third was a preorder.

At the very least, I would have also been happy to find Link, and I expected to at least be able to locate him on a store shelf after Nintendo's claim that certain popular characters, including the Hyrulean hero, would always be readily available. It's now nearly the end of January, and apart from the odd Mario, Peach and Pikachu, I have yet to find ANY amiibo whatsoever.

And since Link's not an option, I doubt that Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Samus and Fox (the other members of my original basic plan) will be easily found either. If I knew that it would be such a struggle to find a few awesome lumps of plastic, I wouldn't have focused entirely on buying gifts for my friends and family and treated myself just a little bit, or at least put the characters I most wanted on layby at Target, Big W or somewhere else.

In summary, I'm starting to lose faith in the amiibo line as a whole. Without Link, the main representative of one of my top favourite Nintendo franchises, my small collection feels incomplete, and that's not good for a dedicated Nintendo fan with a slight obsession for organising and collecting things in a certain way. I also feel upset for others in the same situation, and I hope that restocks are indeed on the way so that we can all feel the joy and satisfaction of an amiibo collection that is complete to each of our personal tastes. Thank you.

Re: Shantae And The Pirate’s Curse For Wii U & 3DS eShop Releases In Europe And Australia On 5th February

GamerZack87

@NaughtyOttsel22 That'd be neat, but I don't really use my PC for gaming. I mostly play games on my handhelds (DS lite, 2DS and, to a lesser extent, Vita), so the DSiWare version would be more to my tastes.

Also, I'm a bit put-off that WayForward didn't put in the effort to localise the DSiWare version of RR. They more or less said that it wasn't worth releasing it in Australia, as though we didn't matter enough to them. The fact that so many game publishers don't recognise Australia as an important gaming community is upsetting, as many of the people I know are gamers, and all of those people own at least one Nintendo console.

Re: Talking Point: The New Nintendo 3DS Could Be a Huge Success, But Its Route to Release Has Been Rocky

GamerZack87

One of the main reasons I have yet to take the plunge (apart from the holiday period emptying my funds) is the fact that the black New Nintendo 3DS has yet to be released in Australia. It may eventually end up that I import a UK version, provided that I can have my Aussie NNID and eShop account on it, which would be ironic since people in Europe have been importing the white Aussie model due to lack of availability and I would effectively be doing the exact same thing in reverse!

Re: Poll: Which New Nintendo 3DS Will You be Buying?

GamerZack87

@123akis I would definitely jump at the chance if a) I can transfer my Australian NNID and all my games to it, b) I can connect to the Australian Nintendo eShop on it, and c) it isn't announced for Australia between now and when I'm actually able to buy one. Provided these three factors are in full effect, I'd definitely consider importing one, along with some Cover Plates which aren't available here.

By the way, what kind of screwdriver does the New 3DS need?

Re: Poll: Which New Nintendo 3DS Will You be Buying?

GamerZack87

The things that disappoint me:
1) At EB Games in Australia, the MH4U consoles were strictly one per customer and, last I checked, there were plenty of them available for preorder. The Majora's Mask console had no such restriction, and was completely sold out within the day. Come on, EB, it should have been the other way around. Stoopid scalpers.

2) In Australia, we got only one colour of New 3DS at launch: white (not a colour, I know, but bear with me). I thought, Why didn't they release both black and white, like Japan? Maybe black will come later. Then, I found out that Europe will have both black and white consoles at launch, with no such announcement for Australia. With black as my first colour choice, and no interest in the XL version, this is kind of disappointing. We finally catch a break, only to end up with the short end of the stick.

Otherwise, New 3DS looks awesome.

Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2015

GamerZack87

"This is the speculative punt that we referred to in our introduction, as this Wii re-make - which is exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS - is only confirmed for Japan so far."
@ThomasBW84 Actually, it was announced for an Australian release as well during the Nintendo Direct Australia broadcast.

Re: Feature: 12 Days of Nintendo Christmas - Day Five

GamerZack87

Uh-oh...with "FIVE SONIC RINGS", it makes the rest of the song a little challenging to sing properly:

Four calling Chat-
Three An-gry
Two Koopa Troop-
And a big chair in a pear tree!

It just doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely as the traditional "Twelve Days of Christmas". Oh well...

My suggestion: Six Miis-a-playing

Re: Feature: 12 Days of Nintendo Christmas - Day Two

GamerZack87

@ThomasBW84 Well, in the traditional song, the third thing is "three French hens". In the Pokémon series, the Kalos region is based on France, and it is home to a native bird Pokémon called Fletchling. So how about "Three Fletchling" as the third lyric?

Re: Feature: Our Predictions For The Animal Crossing x Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 2

GamerZack87

@ThomasBW84 I think there's already a Leaf Cup in the game. It might be called the New Leaf Cup, or the Acorn Cup.

As for content I'd like to see? I'm not fussy, though I wouldn't object to Purple Yoshi and Purple Shy Guy, plus maybe even Brown and Magenta Yoshi and Grey and Magenta Shy Guy as extras. But at least add the entire core Yoshi family to the game! Remember Lilo & Stitch? What about ohana, Nintendo?

Re: Now You Can Gawk at New Nintendo 3DS Demo Units and Packaging from Japan

GamerZack87

I'm looking at preordering one before its release, but it's a tough decision choosing between either white or white. My friend's going to Japan this month, and he might even be able to bring back some Japanese-exclusive Cover Plates for me. Hopefully they're not region-locked!

Between this, my Christmas shopping and the new D&D core rulebooks (in addition to anything else which happens to pop-up), my poor wallet will be weeping for months! D:

@NintendoFan64 Yes, there will be a New Nintendo 3DS XL; in fact, it releases on the same day as the standard model.

Re: Nintendo Direct: New Nintendo 3DS Models Coming to Australia and New Zealand on 21st November

GamerZack87

It took a moment to sink in when I started reading my Nintendo newsletter, but once it did I flipped out! Nintendo's actually doing something extremely nice for us Aussies! I'm slightly disappointed that the base model won't be in black at launch, but white would be my first choice in colour anyway. The only thing that would make this news better is if the new Pokémon games are out on the same day...pardon? They are?! WOOHOO!
