It really couldn't have been more obvious that Nintendo is 100% out for money, completely exploiting their IPs with cheap 'party' or 'chibi' versions! And playing up Amiibo so that we all go bankrupt and they sell 100% of their stock!

This is really annoying, they should change the release time, 3am is essentially the single worst hour you could ask for...

That seems believable. As a computer engineering student, I can vouch for the reasoning behind those codes, but it could simply just be a way of making each character have a definite unique code, rather than implying all the gaps will be filled. For example, if there was a standalone amiibo (say treecko) for a game like Super Mystery Dungeon, instead of finding an empty spot in the codes, just use the algorithm to translate it into it's respective amiibo code.
