@mjc0961 Not too sure if Nintendo can't do this but I certainly know that it is a bad decision that will bite them in the donkey hard. Whilst other devs like rockstar simply give permission, Nintendo feels the need to come up with this pointless, divisive program.
Even when people like Dan Adelman, who has worked in Nintendo for years, comes out and says that Nintendo is stuck in the past, there are still people who argue for, and defend Nintendo.
Times have changed, they need to adapt to how things are done now.
@ShadyKnights Please explain how arguments against this idiotic business decision are moot? Because It's in their rights? Oh well, when Nintendo was going to remove the Smash stream at EVO 2013, guess it was stupid of us to go against them because, y'know, they can do this.
Also, you do realize that developers can also give their fans permission to use their work. Alas, again, Nintendo proves that it can't business very well and have to get some of that cash. Would like to see that sort of reaction people would have if EA did this.
Also, there are rules to follow? If Let's plays are remixes than it falls under fair use. And just for good measure, tell that to the people who cry like real babies when Nintendo gets sent to court over patent infringement.
See? Free advertising. I was telling this to so many people and yet everyone is trying to damage control and make excuses for Nintendo.
Also, I feel this is necessary to say whenever YouTube and Nintendo videos are brought up. Because Nintendo is in their legal rights to do such HORRENDOUS decisions doesn't mean they should be doing this. Let's not forget that there are developers that do give the their fans the right to do upload videos of their games and encourage them 'cause, you know, that's an option too.
1. Reasonably looking forward to it. Not super excited but it looks cool. 2. online 4 v 4 to rek scrubz and 360 no scope them 3. Extremely disappointed as voice chat is a standard feature in online games and should be there. There are better options that please both crowds without the complete omition of this standard feature like, I dunno giving a freaking MUTE button. 4. My god, the Amiibo support. So you have 30 bucks worth of Amiibos that are hard to find which unlocks about 60 challenges in the game. I expected better from you, Nintendo. 5. It will be a big hit only in the existing fanbase of the Wii U. Nothing more.
People acting like that guy is the devil need to slap themselves hard. You can argue that Nintendo has the right to do what they want with their IPs, it doesn't mean that it is logical to do so, like that HORRENDOUS Youtube Partner Program they made. Absolutely abysmal of Nintendo. Nintendo has a severe issue with befriending their fans, if them removing Project M from vgbootcamp is any indication although it is a hackless, free, legal mod of the game. They have to start working on it and become more tolerant of fan made games and mods. It's a disgrace really.
@DreMurf313 The fun in that is that I can enjoy these games as experiences instead of playing a tech demo to test if the control scheme works. Just because your control scheme is new or different doesn't automatically mean you're good or fun. And may I remind you that Wii U's first full year in the market was pretty similar with its droughts so yeah. This year is the year of Witcher 3, MGS V, FF XV, Batman Arkham Knight, Uncharted 4, Persona 5 and so forth, none of which are coming to Wii U. See it as the the year 2014 for the PS4 and Xbox One. This is coming from someone who, one year ago, will defend Nintendo to the death no matter what. But facts are facts. And to answer your question, yes. Yes I much rather Nintendo builds stronger and more beefier hardware rather than inventing new ways to play which will be completely abandoned next generation. That way Nintendo will get all these games from the third parties and their own games will look gorgeous as well. It's pure logic to make your next gen system stronger.
@minotaurgamer Because he doesn't bring his games to Nintendo isn't reason to piss on him or his absolutely fantastic work. And it's worth making an article. Kojima is one of the best and biggest game designers in the industry. Him leaving the company he worked with for so long is pretty big news if you ask me.
@Quorthon Indeed. They should just make a controller like the Wii U Pro Controller as the main one you'll use for games and then keep something like the Wii U GamePad as some sort of peripheral or secondary controller. Either way, I'm pretty tired of the ''Fun new ways to play thing'' and just wish they focus on making game fun. Like, it's annoying like hell. Nintendo is very stubborn to persist doing this just to not be like Sony or Microsoft.
Metal Gear will never be the same without Hideo Kojima. I hope for the best for him and that the future brings good things for Mr. Kojima. Konami made it a bad habit of always depending on him and always depending on Metal Gear.
Honestly hope they stop with the whole ''new ways to play'' craze that's been plaguing Nintendo since the Wii. Ever since then, they wonder how you'll play the game instead of making the game fun and the experience memorable. Certain series aren't getting new installments just because they can't think of how to use the damned controller for it. Enough! Go back to GameCube-style controllers and we're good.
@midnafanboy Well the thing is that Melee could very well be played casually. It was your choice to either play with items on and not using ATs but you had the choice to put more work into honing your skills. And if you wanted to go to tourneys, it was your choice as well. But the thing here is Brawl was made with the sole purpose of being played casually. Sure, there is a competitive scene in Brawl but it really forces the player to play defensively and campy, which is by no means a welcome things as the first to Smash games were mostly offensive, like pretty much the vast majority of Fighting games. So when people like Zero stall, it isn't so much s ZeRo's fault as it is the game just rewarding this type of play.
This is just one of the reasons why I consider Melee to still be the best Smash game in the series. It had a perfect balance between casual play and competitive play. While I very much like Sm4sh, it gets VERY annoying when you are going for aerial attack only to have the opponent air dodging you, like pretty much every time. It makes the aerial game and aerial approaches pretty pointless. Like, the offensive approaches are so easy to deny.
Honestly surprised that there are no people trying to even understand where the Melee fans are coming from. Pretty much every thing they've ever liked has been nerfed or removed to make it even more casual. The game was made to be defensive when no one even cared about it being aggressive. It's the part of the fandom that has progressively been getting less and less because Sakurai does not like them at all. If you can't understand why they're always negative about the new Smash games, I don't think you have the right to insult them.
Melee has introduced a competitive scene, whether you like it or not and the best way to live with it isn't to make it more casual like Brawl did, because you still didn't get rid of them and you still had to deal with them. You have to ADAPT to this new part of the fandom. Give the Melee fans a Smash game that rewards offensive play over defensive play, ATs, combos and there you have it. You satisfied the competitive fans and you won't hear about them for another millennium.
@JaxonH You sure have a lot of Wii U games. Also, killer GameCube collection (Fave console ever). I myself am a new PS4 owner and finding actually interesting exclusives has proven to be hard. The other games available for it, I can get on my lovely gaming PC. Still, I'm worried for Nintendo since they are my favorite of the big 3, I WANT to see them at the top.
@JaxonH Most likely because you don't buy a lot of games for other consoles. Regarding the Wii U, there is hardly any games coming out. The Third Party developers have abandonned the Wii U completely and as such, Nintendo needs to pump out more games, enough so that we don't have droughts. Also, mediocre-scoring third party games? Outside of Ubisoft, only Destiny was a massive disappointment and yet there are still people enjoying the game.
2015 is going to be HUGE for the PS4 and XBox One but for Wii U, Zelda Wii U, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World and maybe Star Fox are the hard hitters. More may come on the way, as Iwata has hinted but regardless, Nintendo isn't pumping out enough games as we STILL have droughts 2 years into the Wii U. That's some worrisome stuff right here.
@JaxonH They can hardly provide enough games for their own console, how is that going to help them? They should start solving the issues with their consoles and games before jumping into another kind of business.
In my opinion, Nintendo isn't shooting themselves on the foot... They're pulling a M3 Shotgun and blasting all of their feet! Seriously, what's so complicated to understand here? People like your game and play it, the viewers get interested in said game and buy it (With a VERY small amount of players actually not buying their game). Video games are an interactive experience that change with every playthrough unlike a Movie or a song. This program basically discourages people to Let's Play their game which is the one thing they SHOULDN'T do due to how badly the Wii U is doing! You refuse to spend money on advertising your games and now you are going after people who are doing the free advertising for you!
Do we have people with the brain of seagulls at Nintendo doing this crap? Back in the 80s and 90s, you had no clear way to know what you were getting into flash forward to the present and now you have video reviews and let's plays that are there to help you make a decision on what you want to buy. Let's Plays are the next big step for gaming and advertising! Take a look at Chuggaconroy's current Xenoblade let's play and read the comments. There are hundreds of people actually buying the freaking game because of him! People should stop being sheep and take every decision from Nintendo as ''Well, they can do so''. THAT'S NOT GONNA GET THEM ANYWHERE!
PS: Nintendo needs, I accentuate on the word NEEDS, new top management.
Please, for the love of Bowser, if this is real, let it be something closer to Thousand Years Door and not Sticker Star. Just, please, Miyamoto, do not force new things unto us. Please.

The analysts aren't half-wrong when they say that Nintendo should go to Smartphones because that is where the casuals are at. So, if you want to pursue your success with casuals, go to Smart Phones, if you want to keep doing what you do best, remain in the console market and make more hardcore franchises for the fans.
