Re: Konami Is Bringing Back Rocket Knight Adventures And Felix The Cat

Edd-O

@AllieKitsune I'm not saying it's realistic but who thought that Konami would bring back a Felix the Cat 'Collection' which includes all of 2 games?!

Just bung the Super Famicom, N64 and PS1 Goemon games on there and I'd be more than happy, no need to include the portable games. There must be more of a market for a Goemon collection than there is for Felix the Cat?!

As others have said we really do need a Goemon/Legend of the Mystical Ninja collection next from Konami. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th games on the Super Famicom were never translated and brought over to the west, and the 2nd one in particular is meant to be great.

The two N64 games were really good too (luckily I have both of them on cart as well as LOTMN on the SNES). There were a couple of Goemon games on the PS1 too, all in all there's more than enough there for a collection. but it would need some good translation work.

Re: Nintendo Switch "Lifetime US Unit Sales" Surpass Xbox 360

@Euler Presumably you're counting the N64 as one of the 3 'unsuccessful' Nintendo home consoles? 33 million consoles sold is very similar numbers to the Mega Drive/Genesis and Atari 2600-no one thinks of them as failures.

I think the N64 suffers because the PS1 was such a sales behemoth, selling 102 million and broadening the appeal of home consoles so that they were no longer just seen as kids' toys.

Re: Nintendo Switch "Lifetime US Unit Sales" Surpass Xbox 360

The Switch is a fantastic system with a brilliant library, my second favourite console behind the SNES, and I've had all of Nintendo's home consoles. With it still doing so well sales wise I wonder if Switch 2 might be pushed back from a likely Winter 2024 launch to Spring 2025 though?

8 years with one platform dominating the industry, what a feat that would be for Nintendo, especially coming straight after the dismal failure that the Wii U was.

Re: Review: 1080° Snowboarding - Effortlessly Cool Shredding That Demands Perfection

Edd-O

Definitely the coolest game Nintendo made in the '90s. Enjoying giving it another go on the Switch, cracking soundtrack too but the reviewer is right when he states that the tricks are difficult to perform. An 8/10 for me.

One of 4 criminally under-used Nintendo racing (although 1080 is arguably more of a sports game) franchises that needs a new entry soon (F-Zero, Excitebike and Wave Race being the others).

Re: Sega Announces New Games In Development For Classic Franchises

Edd-O

@datamonkey 1080, Pilotwings and Wave Race plus Excitebike and F-Zero please Nintendo. A man can dream.

This was a MEGATON announcement from Sega for anyone round about 40 years old, who remembers all of these legendary franchises. And there's more to come! The mind boggles.

Bravo Sega, bravo.

Re: 'Felix The Cat' Konami Collection Surfaces On The ESRB

Edd-O

Very odd choice but at least Konami are pumping out more collections from the old days.

Next we need:

1) Goemon/Mystical Ninja Collection with translations of the 2nd and 3rd Super Famicom games.
2) Gradius Collection, similar to the PSP one but with Gradius Advance, Gradius V and Gradius Rebirth added.
3) Silent Hill Collection (Silent Hill 2 on PS2 goes for £400+ (sealed) these days on eBay)
4) Parodius Collection
5) Castlevania DS Collection
6) Bomberman Collection
7) Tiny Toons Collection
8) Bonk Collection
9) Rocket Knight/Sparkster Collection
10) Adventure Island Collection

They're sitting on an absolute goldmine.

Re: Review: F-Zero 99 - A Brilliant Battle-Royale Revival That Plays To The Series' Strengths

Edd-O

Have put about 3 hours into F-Zero 99 and it's been mostly very enjoyable, even if my best finish so far is 6th and as i've been playing the original since 1992 (and finished X and got pretty far into Story and Master Mode in the very hard GX) I thought I'd be doing better than that.

After 19 years since the last game it's so cool to finally get a new F-Zero (of sorts), I just hope they bring out a physical version and an offline mode the same way they did with Tetris 99, which I put nearly 200 hours into.

Also big shout out to the original composers, Naoto Ishida and Yumiko Kanki; the F-Zero soundtrack is fantastic, I much prefer it to the hard rock stylings of X or the GX soundtrack.

Now to get back to working towards that elusive first victory.

Re: Switch Online N64 Wireless Controller Back In Stock In Europe

Edd-O

Finally out of stock again but good work Nintendo in actually getting enough stock so that the controllers were available for nearly 12 hours rather than the usual 12 minutes!

Now if they can manage something similar when they finally restock the physical Switch version of Bayonetta 1 we’ll be laughing.
