Re: Review: The Cave (Wii U eShop)

Dogpigfish

Let me clarify, what does the Wii U version have to offer that the other systems don't? I know Nintendo wants third party adoption and that's all fine and dandy, but I'm not sure as a consumer I want to support development that doesn't leverage what this system has to offer. Is this a straight port?

Can someone re-review this game with an idea about how it looks and plays on the wii u? Maybe tell us about what features it supports and so forth, after all this site is nintendolife. I don't go to this site for the ps3 review. I'm frankly confused.

Re: Nintendo Launches Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign Today

Dogpigfish

It will be launching in the spring, but we will allow you to access it today, but not an official launch, a pretend launch. We will continue to allow you to download a new game each month until the "official" launch when we say "it's the official launch", but until then make believe launch is now, not a real official launch, just a pretend, pretend its a launch, not really a launch, because it hasn't been officialized yet.

Re: Resident Evil Revelations Set to Infest Wii U

This is an excellent game. Have beaten it multiple times on 3ds using circle pad pro. Would be nice on a bigger screen. I'll double dip if the price is right. Note: I've never played a resident evil game, but it feels like Gears of War and you can't go wrong with this gameplay. Additionally, the characters are too tough to ever make you feel vulnerable; so this is more action than horror.

Re: Talking Point: The Future Role of High Street Games Retailers

If used companies pay royalties, then developers can keep their people working. Much like music, it needs to have some sort of digital reference so the author can get paid for their creativity. Places like gamestop are stealing from these authors. You're always going to have these big corporate money making developers like Activision, but how do Indies survive on a brick & mortar shelf? The simple answer is they don't, they have to rely on digital because they can't survive in retail. At some point retail games will enter a collectors period where they simply aren't earning money and can be sold used, like a second hand shop. But this is much different than an enterprise based on used sales. Even so, if all games switch to digital you'll see more creative games and new ip's rather than rehashes. Don't confuse indie with corporate, I'm not talking some 30+ person band that builds mutant mudds, I'm talking any creative person or persons who has taken it upon themselves to build a new game like mechcraft on IOS or cave story on PC.

I'm not saying consumers buying used games are stealing. I'm saying companies that sell used games are stealing from developers because they don't pay them royalties and this further drives the price of retail. It's a matter of perspective, but not intended to offend anyone, just my opinion that companies like THQ are directly impacted.

Re: Talking Point: The Future Role of High Street Games Retailers

Technically used game sales don't belong to retailers. In many aspects they've stolen from developers. I like buying used games, but now that I'm older you see how this fundamental piracy has caused great concerns for unemployed developers who put their heart and soul into a title. You say "they've got plenty of money, bla bla bla" but you'll see downloadable games at much cheaper prices than retail. Retail games will stay high to offset the expected piracy each year. Factually speaking, download only games will get much cheaper and have to compete on a much broader scale if we all move to digital. Additionally, it's only seasonal underpaid checkers that are impacted, that would do much better working somewhere else. Their wages are unresponsible considering their companies' profits. I have moved to all digital for this reason.

Re: Wii U Advert Banned In The UK

Dogpigfish

Ps Vita's commercial showed remote play, but we know that never happened. It was pure false advertising, but I don't recall it getting pulled. UK must have better enforcement for that.

Re: Wii U Advert Banned In The UK

Dogpigfish

I agree. It is a bit misleading. Not to mention the commercial isn't that good. Should say that many games allow the User to play remotely. I would assume they all did from the commercial and not be happy if I didn't know otherwise.

Re: Review: Crimson Shroud (3DS eShop)

Dogpigfish

Bad review, it's an overly expensive interactive book. Makes it sound like a tactics game, but it's not. 99% dialog and some tapping and frustrating menus. Nothing more. Huge disappointment.

Re: Nvidia Unveils the Daunting Project Shield

Dogpigfish

Won't work well. Developers are finding that streaming Internet couples with an Internet interface is very difficult. Recent example is ps vitas remote play using wifi, frame rate and constant hiccups for intense action can be somewhat frustrating. The technology is out there, but fairly low quality compared to a dedicated handheld like wii u.

Re: Miyamoto: Pikmin 3 To Be More Like Series Original

Dogpigfish

Pikmin 2 was definitely better than 1, but it had a lot of content that was never utilized. I don't want a reiteration, but something new. Pikmin on Nintendoland is pretty good, so hope this is refreshingly different, because I don't the same game twice.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2013

Dogpigfish

I think Bayonetta succeeded because of timing, it was all that came out in a three month vacancy. I don't think it will impact many again for that reason; too much other content being released. I hope I'm wrong.

Re: Capcom Not Looking To Bring "Late Ports" To Wii U

Dogpigfish

Capcom didn't exactly have a bang up year. I was really impressed by Dragon's Dogma, but critics and User reviews said different. The resident evil series didn't do too well and the best of the franchise, Revelations, was already on the 3DS. I don't think its confusing that they won't be promoting their 2012 content. I think 2013 will be dramatically different. I've never played Monster Hunter, but now that's its an early release on my favorite system they'll earn my money.
