Re: Investor Approval Rating For Satoru Iwata Drops To 77.26 Precent

@element187
Sega never wanted to go the software route and liquidate their manufacturing. They would still have consoles if it weren't for piracy. Nindi is around because of their strong partnership with IBM and this business knowledge of software theft security protocols. Some could argue sega piracy sprang from overpriced software, so perhaps new developers should be concerned about pricing.

I think he should be on the way out. Having him as the spokesman for Nintendo America over Reggie is a joke. I've said this once before, get him off the Nintendo Directs and get someone who is willing to invest in more software properties. No more 2d rehashes. I don't care if you place Major Nelson as the spokesman.

Re: Activision - "We Want to See Nintendo be Successful"

Dogpigfish

@FineLerv good point, this is more a reflection of the industry. Despite that, this isn't 2006 anymore and high taxes and health insurance costs is not going to bode well for Americans this year. There is a reason Sony is selling the ps4 for 43% less than it's ps3 counterpart. If the team of systems don't do we'll, neither will developers. On another note, this transition is always cold for developers because new system adoption is a long process. No one wants to develop a game for a small population of owners. Expect some devs to go under if they haven't set aside some cash. Game development is extremely difficult, very expensive if you want quality control, and there are huge ramifications if the software doesn't sell big.

Re: EA Outlines Its Reasons for Lack of Wii U Support

Dogpigfish

Sure it wasn't the fault of the developer. C'mon, you didn't even have our star quarterback kaupernick in Madden, then you rehashed bargain bin games at an extreme price. 300% markup is not a reason to have the 'wii u' version. With the exception of NFS most wanted, thanks for nothing EA. Maybe next time you can put forth some effort.

Re: First Impressions: Sonic Lost World

Dogpigfish

My only concern is quality control. Anybody would admit this lacking in the last gen with splashing and water effects non existent, occasionally falling into nothing. Camera flashing and taking me into a wall where I have to try to move sonic to see him once again. I hope they acknowledge this issue and get it fixed this gen.

Re: Talking Point: It's Time for Nintendo to Drop Region Locking

One could argue the machine isn't less powerful, just won't multitask and use 6 gigs of ram to run background processes like profile information and marketing, additionally loading your game videos to shared sites. I have yet to see any graphical Prowess that excels beyond mario kart 8. You can tell me it runs at 50 gamaquadrints or has a brighter texture rate, but what I see is no different from the new systems. They are more expensive, have less games, and lack a screen controller. Maybe next year ill think differently when they unveil more, but this year it's all about the brand, nothing more.

Re: Review: Game & Wario (Wii U)

It's also interesting to see such a huge range of praises and disappointment on metacritic. Problem is players will have to play through some of the less exciting games to get to the more interesting. Taxi and Gamer are fantastic and I wouldn't see them going standalone for less than $10 a download. In fact, I would advise Nindi to take that approach to reveal done of the mastery hidden within this package.

Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts May Not Appear On Wii U After All

Dogpigfish

Not mysterious, just being coerced by the other big two. Lets face it, if you put the hottest shooter on the wii u, there isn't a reason for a consumer to buy anything but a wii u this Christmas. Activision supporting Nindi is a thorn in MS and Sony's side. They will continue to buy out third party to get them to cooperate with them and crush the competition. Expect Sony and MS to throw sand as we get closer to their mediocre rehash consoles.

Re: Reggie: This Holiday Season Is Going To Be Extremely Strong For Wii U

Dogpigfish

Now that I can rest and look back; Nindi has a killer launch this season and a handful of must haves right now. I thought the ps4 conference was good, but it's clear no titles are coming out for a great while. It really just gets summarized as a next gen system that really just looks the same to the common customer as its predecessor. I predict this will be a strong holiday season for ps3, 3ds and Wii U, everything else will bomb.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo E3 Survey

Dogpigfish

We attended the best buy e3 event on Saturday and it was fantastic. My brother, who's company had sent him to E3 at least once before said the booth was almost identical to the E3 events. Kids loved it when they got to play, only took an hour to try out 3d land. It was terrific and the Wii U is shaping up to be a game changer in what modern entertainment has become. Like the wiimote, the others will shift later to match that of the Wii U in features, while Nindi will continue to do its own thing while others replicate.

Re: Waiting For Wii U To Drop In Price? Not Going To Happen, Says Nintendo

Dogpigfish

@belmont you may want to watch the press conference for ps4 again. You are making a lot of assumptions. I own a ps3 and have playstation plus, but still haven't received remote play. Sony is like a bad politician. Don't expect to put down less than $460 to get your machine running at launch for the ps4. Incremental pricing has been their strategy for years; let's hope they provide an hdmi cable.

Re: Waiting For Wii U To Drop In Price? Not Going To Happen, Says Nintendo

Dogpigfish

Wii U doesn't need a price drop. Month over month has never shown their performance; this is run by seasonal sales drivers. All indicators show Wii U at a reasonably healthy starting price. It's already bundled with a game and lots of other features. The other two will be an incremental starting price of $460 or above. Consumers are much smarter in this 'new normal' budget savvy economy; at least that's the case here in the states.

Re: First Impressions: Mario Kart 8

Dogpigfish

What's especially important about this game is Nindi revealing the graphical prowess of the system. Nothing really graphically stellar has come out of this box that looks better than what we see today. This is a great example of the power of the equipment, showing graphics that stand up against Xbone and 4.

Re: Reggie: Publishers Should Create Great Games To Stem The Impact Of Used Game Sales

Dogpigfish

Ha ha, Reggie always states the painfully obvious truth. Shelf life is the problem of the developer. Nindi doesn't have that problem, so they'll sit this one out and let EA, Acty, MS, Sony, and Ubi duke it out. I remember years ago Sony talking about providing short term experiences in order to not disrupt adoption; basically they meant making games without any replay value and in some cases only giving pieces of the full experience. It's a completely different business model.
