Re: April NPD: Switch Has Overtaken PS4 Sales In The US

DankPeezy

I always find it funny that when a piece of hardware starts to slow down in sales analyst look at the scenario like the popularity of the hardware is dropping, when actually it's just that the majority of gamers have now bought a Switch and don't need 2 or 3 of them. It's silly to think somehow sales will remain the same. Now it's time for a 2 year avalanche of killer software. The Switch will probably surpass every console except for, maybe, the PS2 in software sales when all is said and done.

And why not bring BLOPS 1 and 2 and Ghosts over. They wouldn't even need to be remasters. They ran at 720p 60fps on the WiiU. Maybe they could bump the resolution up to 900p or 1080p, but other than that straight ports would be fine. P.S. I know BLOPS 1 wasn't on WiiU but 2 was and they could easily port the PS360 version of 1 with said res bump.

@Goat_FromBOTW I think it's just people in Indiana are home bodies. Especially during Winter so we naturally play alot of video games. Indiana was also one of the better places to grow up in the 80's and 90's and the legacy of Nintendo emerges out of that. We know how to slow down, not get caught up in all the hype and live the good life. Vacations to Florida, trips to King's Island every year and are happy to let people think it's nothing but corn fields so they don't bring their drama here.

Re: "Audacious" Zombie Army 4: Dead War Switch Port Has Been A "Nightmare" For Rebellion

@Zverik Alot of it has to do with controlled resolution buffering where backgrounds that are clear on other versions are blurred out. Draw distance is a huge factor, having "x" amount of data be in a higher resolution/framerate at a certain distance from the visible viewing angle. Most of the time, animations have to be recoded to alot for "less" movement so that characters models can maintain a decent framerate. That causes a need for remodeling in most cases. You'll notice a character model look "skinnier". The dev will usually maintain the "head" of a model because that's the focal point and downgrade the body. Mostly using less polys to create a similar looking model. Things that were more fleshed out in other versions are hollowed out to have less data present in the memory cache to maintain resolution and framerate.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

DankPeezy

Man, you guys must be super rough with your Switches. I got mine in February of 2018 and it's nearly pristine. I've kept it in a good case and play it docked to handheld about 50/50. The screen is fine, the battery is fine although I am on my second pair of Joycon. The first gray pair were inflicted with the dreaded drift. I have an orange and purple pair that have been fine since I got them. I do use the spilt pad pro from Hori quite a bit though and have a pro controller for docked gaming.

Re: Talking Point: How Long Does Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Take To Beat, Really?

I feel like "beating" BOTW is, completing all the shrines minus DLC, raising all of the towers, completing all of the Divine Beasts, gathering all of the memories and obtaining the Hylian Shield and Master Sword. Then playing Hyrule Castle and defeating Ganon. That's the full game. If you know what you're doing it can be done in 50-60 hours. Although I have logged over 300 hrs in total between the Wii U and Switch versions.
