Re: Best Of 2021: Remember When People Thought Switch Would Fail?

Crockin

Honestly I didn’t know a single gamer in real life who wasn’t extremely hyped immediately. Was a waayyyyyy different energy than Wii U reveal. Was pretty obvious it was going to be a blockbuster imo. People who doubted it either had Wii U ptsd or just the usual Sony/ms/pc elite gamurr$

Re: Soapbox: Can We Please Retire The Phrase ‘Lazy Devs’ Already?

Crockin

I've been saying this too. First off, it's like saying lazy astronaut. Game development takes a crazy amount of effort and planning, even horrible games. Its really just money at the end of the day. Directors and producers and executives and even shareholders sometimes decide how much money is going to be spent on any given aspect of development, and it trickles down from there. there's not n64 trees in pokemon because some guy just wants to go home early. its the result of a calculation somewhere way higher up the chain. blame execs, not devs

Crockin

I think the original pikmin on GameCube was the best, specifically on the first run. I had no idea what to expect or what strategy to use. Once I figured it out and I could just steamroll every area, the whole series got kinda boring for me. Like even pikmin 3 I just found myself doing the same exact thing, and it had been at least 15 years since playing the first one. Granted I played it on switch not Wii U, so maybe I missed out on what made the 3 captain system special

Re: Talking Point: How Many Hours Is A 'Short' Game For You?

Crockin

It’s hard to say, because it is so relative to the experience itself. I absolutely would not put dread in the too short category. Metroid is so incredibly dense with content and progression, I feel very satisfied there. I can think of games were way too long, like luigis mansion 3
