@rjejr casual play of splatoon does require chat at all. You even just said you TURN OFF voice chat in other games because it’s annoying. What are u even arguing

@rjejr playing solo queue and playing with friends in league or competitive are completely different experiences, almost a different game. Playing with randos is like, the entire point. That is first and foremost the the core experience of splatoon. Voice chat is a feature for competitive.Plus u just acknowledged the game has voice chat, so that’s an L.

@RareAir23 big box retailers all have the game about a week before release. There’s millions of copies out there, so some are definitely slipping through the cracks. There’s a spot in my city that famously(infamously?) will sell you the game as soon as they have it, usually that Tuesday.

I’m going to try to avoid, but I’ve mostly come to expect that spoilers are just part of life now.

It's definitely likely, just not until Splatoon 3 launch has some room to breathe. Bet we'll see windwaker, botw2 delay to q4 2023, Splatoon 3 updates, star fox zero or new game. Also, it's been 5 years since a mainline Mario game. There's gotta be an announcement soon.

@ModdedInkling honestly I think by next time the strategies will be there. I was on defense and started winning every match just by popping defensive specials at just the right time. Big bubbler and wave breaker are absolute musts, especially if you have multiple of each, it’s unstoppable

@mazzel both splatoon and splatoon 2 got extra modes and content post launch, including a whole awesome single player mode, which is already confirmed for 3.This is the base. More than enough content to start with

@Rykdrew ok fine! Splatoon 2 will die. Don’t care. The entirety of this new content would easily be 2-3 $30 dlc packs. Don’t even compare those other games, the level of polish and control is just not even in the same ballpark.

And not sure if you know this, but people spend hundreds, THOUSANDS on games like fortnite, league etc. How do you think they keep going?

They beg and moan for sequels that simply improve on the last iteration to get games more frequently, but when it’s not zelda, they freak out and don’t know how to handle it. But also would flip out if it WAS zelda

@Dang69 it doesn’t play the same tho. New movement options and new specials weapons and stages completely change the meta and how strategies are formed. Alex even says in his video how different it feels, despite how down he was on single player mode. There’s plenty to criticize with splatoon in general, but this game being a new game should not be a debate

Edit: also, it doesn’t look the same either. Completely new setting, full round of new characters, much nicer lighting and shadows, way more varied animations etc etc.

@Vivianeat ok but splatoon is not like some dusty old franchise in desperate need of a makeover. There’s more than enough new content and gameplay changes in the vanilla base game to justify its existence.

@Vivianeat people who play video games have backlogs on other consoles and on steam. You could say the same of any Nintendo game coming out this year. Q4 is a tough window BECAUSE splatoon and Pokémon. If anything bayonetta and Mario rabbids are the ones that will have a harder time

For real tho, Nintendo has IP for every current trend and genre. I think F2P would really have to be a new franchise of some kind. I feel like splatoon would drastically lose quality. Pokémon makes more sense to me.

BY FAR legacy content. Nintendo consoles should come with the basic round of nes, snes, n64, and game boy software preloaded ready to go. I know this isn’t exactly the same the free to play software we’re talking about here, but still
