@AG_Awesome I'd be keen to hear your thoughts. It plays like a story-driven Doom with Minecraft-like graphics, but forges its own path with takes on philosophy
@theiRiS except these "things" that supposedly "push us forward" are usually entirely unnecessary and cause damage to our finite planet through the abuse of workers, resources and destruction of land.
Pushing businesses forward is based upon maintaining profitability which means selling things for far more than they're worth at the expense of 90% of any company's employees who work for the bare minimum time/money the company will allow to remain profitable at the expense of employee quality of life under the illusion that they'll be given opportunities if they "work hard", which, in reality, merely cements them in their place as their hard work in that position strengthens the top 10% of any company and creates a safety net.
Humanity is an anomaly of nature that deems itself above others of its own species and of the natural world in which it comes from under capitalism. Inequality creates poverty and poverty leads to overpopulation - the number one cause of the earth's unsustainability.
If capitalism is the best method, how can you justify single people owning multiple houses/properties which remain uninhabited for a majority of the time while population increases guarantee an exponential increase in homelessness?
Goods and services are ultimately considered "advancements" by consumerist culture which goes hand-in-hand with capitalism and only serve to distract us from our ultimate nihilistic fear of death. It's based on the same constructs of modern religion, but rather than pretending there is certain infinite happiness after death, insist that you should make yourself "infinitely happy" by consuming unnecessary goods and services whilst alive. This creates and maintains the imbalances of power and control in modern society.
@theiRiS if you had to simplify the issue of capitalism down to one term it's that it makes us forget we are not exempt from the laws of nature.
Nothing in nature takes more than what it needs. By doing so, you're killing your tribe/pod/herd/flock/etc. and putting yourself in a vulnerable condition. Capitalism "thrives" on the ideology that if you have a nothing, you're miserable. If you have a little bit (food, shelter, warmth), you're happier. Therefore if you have lots, you can reach an unachievable state of perpetual bliss. Even if we know that to be untrue, our culture suggests this is the path to "winning" life.
@theiRiS your perspective may be narrow and influenced by people who may have seen relative success under the systems in place that allow for finite gains.
The capitalist system relies and thrives on inequality. The rich get richer not through exponential growth, but by exploiting the lower class and ensuring inequality exists so that they can comparitively maintain their status/wealth/power/control.
Capitalism isn't good and the blind optimism towards thinking "it will all work out" is effectively and ultimately killing our planet.
@HotGoomba there is no "arguable" about it. N'Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited are both full-blown remakes using new engines with new physics and code trying to match the originals as closely as possible.
@Damo the "holier than thou" approach is a little off-putting with the references and and extensive links to try and prove your righteousness.
I visit this site daily, a habit I've had for years now, and have steadily watched the quality of the reporting slip from interviews, reports and information written well and covering such a range of topics (even in the Wii U era) to a lot of limited run articles, waaayyy too many rumours that have since been proven false or been unproven entirely in place of any journalistic integrity. Quantity over quality if you will.
If you took criticism and opinions as they are presented to you rather than incessantly needing to prove the "naysayers" wrong it would come across a lot less like you're trying to inflate your own ego and maybe be a little bit humble.
This makes me fear for the game's future. Predatory "engagement for cosmetics" tactics during limited time events are one of the many elements that ruined Fortnite for me.
The rocket passes in Rocket League have always been very generous in terms of the time it gives you to complete them without feeling the need to grind for 10 hours a day.
This is actually quite a good game. Follows the theme of philosophy and human condition set by the other Nakana titles, but reminds me of PikuNiku meets Thomas Was Alone
It's been the one reason I've held off playing for the 2 years I've owned the game on Switch.
Minecraft can do split screen with separate inventories and this game supports co-op online. The graphics won't push the system to the limit if you split the screen into 2 or (maybe) into 4.
If it's too difficult for one guy, he could surely afford to hire out some people to assist
Whilst I see the spin you're trying to make, and conceptually agree, no good comes from becoming inherently offended by things because people fundamentally have no concept of controlling their reaction, often overreach with what they think they control (spoilers: you can only ever control your own thoughts and actions) and end up harbouring and identifying as a victim.
Humans are ultimately compassionate and empathetic beings forced into ideas of competition, egoic identity and separatism as most of the world celebrates individual power and being "better" than others.
Pandering to egos that have identified as victims and are offended by concepts and words with no intended malice are creating a very divided culture on both ends of the extremist scale of politics.
This website's quality control has gone down the drain since Covid. A lot of repeated information and intentionally provocative headlines and comments in order to garner clicks when there's no real news to report
@BrintaPap I have a full 400GB SD card in my switch and over 100 physical titles. I get the appeal of both, but when it comes to big games I always go physical first
@BrintaPap physical still saves a lot of space over digital. Plus all big name physical titles will generally be found cheaper than their digital counterparts.
Witcher 3, for example, takes up 3.6GB of space on my Switch due to going physical. I purchased it for $69 AUD. The eShop price is $80, although it has been as low as $56 (at the cost of about 32GB of storage).
@Lugazz if you're after FPS games in general, check out Bulletstorm, Duke Nukem, Doom series or Turoks. Unless it is solely the online competitive aspect you're after which is all Overwatch offers
@JHDK pretending it doesn't even partially resemble what you so boldly claim it doesn't implies you're aware of the vague and intentional resemblance whilst simultaneously claiming superiority and bragging rights at the same time.
@oatmaster so you're equating mass consumption of non-necessary electronic entertainment devices with drinking a hot beverage, presumably because of history relating to the production and mass exploitation of the working class to provide such goods and services to people en masse? Yet that somehow **justifies** consumerism and capitalist culture?
@BenAV why did you need a (I assume) secondary Switch? Outside of the fact it's a "rare collectible" there is no reason other than to attempt to satiate an insatiable void of desire that we culturally accept as consumerism.
@HammerKirby you're arguing exactly the point of the people nessisonett was referring to.
There is absolutely no reason not to make a game as accessible as possible unless you're hell-bent on alienating specific markets. Even if it just added more health, optional instant respawns or weaker enemies it would go a long way towards helping broaden the appeal.
EDIT: for clarity this would not REPLACE the existing difficulty mode. But would be an addition. If you truly think extra options diminishes the fun of a hard game, you should probably reassess your expectations.
For those making assumptions about this F2P model, might be worth reading the article and then doing your own research.
Owners of the game prior to it going F2P will receive additional free items. New users will have the full Rocket League experience and still be able to unlock free items.
Anything that requires money will be cosmetic only as it already is in the game's current state.

Re: Video: 21 Best Switch Games for Under $5
@BenAV most of these are good. It's just the few outliers that make me wonder why they were even included to begin with.
Doom games are forever classic and still hold up today. Puzzle games like Golf Peaks and Toki Tori hold up as well, but for different reasons.
Earth Wars represents unique value too considering it sells under a different name and for 5x the price on PS4/PC/XB1.
Re: Video: 21 Best Switch Games for Under $5
If you want a decent game currently under $5 and you have an open mind, I recommend This Strange Realm Of Mine
Currently 90% off and has barely any official critic reviews on Metacritic, but strong user reviews on the site as well as Steam

Ding Dong XL is so boring

"Digerati Presents: Make It Quick Bundle Vol. 1". It's not only a very good game, it's pretty comparable to how I'm feeling in 2020.
