Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe has been hard at work on version 1.5 for months now, but what's going to happen once this latest update is finally complete?
At the moment, he's "not willing to commit" to version 1.6, but doesn't think it'll necessarily be the last update. Here's exactly what he had to say about the future of the popular farming social sim in a recent interview with Game Informer:
“I’m not willing to commit to Stardew Valley 1.6. I will say that I definitely love Stardew Valley. I love it as a world and a universe. I don’t think [1.5] will be the end of Stardew Valley. I would not be surprised if there’s another Stardew Valley update, or multiple updates, or a Stardew Valley 2. Who knows? There’s isn’t currently a Stardew Valley 2; after 1.5, I’ll decide what the next step for Stardew Valley is. But I would say there will probably be another step for Stardew Valley. In the meantime, I’m also working on a couple of new projects – solo projects – so I have plenty to do.”
There's no word just yet one when version 1.5 will roll out, but when it does, it'll apparently include new end-game content, movable beds, and quite possibly a new area or environment.
Would you like to see ConcernedApe continue to release updates for Stardew Valley long after version 1.5? Tell us below.

I hope he makes an entirely different game with the same charm and stuff as stardew valley.
Eric needs a holiday! He’s one of the hardest working indie devs out there, plugging away at Stardew Valley and giving us loads of free content.
He doesn't want to lock himself into something right now, which I totally understand!
But I am so ready for this update! Once it's out I am totally gonna spend another several dozen hours in this!
Amazing dev, amazing game. And dat soundtrack. Mmm hmm. Perfection.
At Nintendolife anything can be an article if you try hard enough!
Want to buy this game but I know if I do all my free time will mysteriously vanish.
I'd love to see a sequel sometime in the distant future, perhaps another farm in the Valley or even Stardew 30 or 40 years after the prior player character from the last game passed.
Still no idea why there isn't local split screen.
It's been the one reason I've held off playing for the 2 years I've owned the game on Switch.
Minecraft can do split screen with separate inventories and this game supports co-op online. The graphics won't push the system to the limit if you split the screen into 2 or (maybe) into 4.
If it's too difficult for one guy, he could surely afford to hire out some people to assist
I’m almost in love with the idea of this game, I tried it for 6 hours I think and it stressed me out had to give up. I just seemed to be in the coal mine then running to bed to get energy then back to coal mine in an infinite loop ahhhhh! I love the look and feel and glad people love this like crazy. Also I had the fear that I would not be able to collect every item in the game, it got to me so had to give up xxx
Look at this guy continuing to create content after he already has 10 million downloads. The new content isn't enticing new purchases; it's a thank-you to the existing customers. That's what I call customer service. I'm happy to have purchased two copies of this.
@ianl579 mine did too and you know what? I had such a good time that I really don’t mind
(Rare for me!)
@Dragonslacker1 the trick is don’t put yourself on a hard schedule. There’s a ton of stuff to do, and you want to do it all at once. Instead just pace yourself out. Ignore the mines unless it’s raining (until you have decent sprinklers). Buy salads. They’re cheap and can fill your stamina back to full. And don’t bother running to the mines in the afternoon unless you just need a few ore. You won’t be able to make serious progress without ladders.
Don’t rush it, no need. It’s not like Harvest Moon where you have to have everything done by a set date. Game is infinite in time. Once you get past the first year is when things get really really good.
It's pretty amazing the game is consistently in the top sellers list on the eshop. Like every week.
I bought this in the sale last year but haven't started it up. I keep pinballing between new releases and am waiting for a significant amount of time to invest in this
Much prefer this to Animal Crossing as my opted “chill” game.
I'm excited for it but will be more excited if they intend to fix the massive freeze ups during online play.
