Re: Have DOOM Eternal Envy? Remember DOOM 64's Out On Switch Today For Just £3.99

After playing a lot of the original Doom, seeing this game in motion actually feels like a weird "next-gen" leap. Seeing real 3d environments makes a big difference, but the gameplay is still just as satisfying (if not more).

Interestingly, the porting team for this seems to be Night dive Studios (who ported the N64 games Turok and Turok 2 to Switch, albeit at a much higher price point).

After seeing that, I lost hope on any multiplayer functionality being added in down the line 🤷‍♂️

Re: Hell Yes! Doom 64's Re-Release Includes An Entirely New Chapter

Anyone who has played this game already, is there any reason there's no co-op?
Like, would having 2 or more players sequence-break anything? Or is it more-or-less like the first 2?

Interesting that they'd add a new chapter, but not multiplayer considering the other Doom games of the era had it.

@Heavyarms55 it's a lot easier to develop a game for a phone that you already have access to than to buy a Switch/PlayStation/Xbox development kit.

Again, you're grouping the whole category together then nitpicking. Your comparison to fast food/sport/Comics is a blatant straw man fallacy as well.

Be against predatory capitalistic practices. Not against the games and passionate developers who are trying to make a living through their passion. Games such as the one featured in the review and Monument Valley (as an example) don't deserve to be lumped into the same category as things like Clash of Clans or Raid Shadow Legends which are produced to strategically take advantage of users and extract their money.

Re: Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 2 Will Make You Feel Like James Bond

@Maschinenmensch Again, understand that is your opinion and nothing more.

I am personally over fortnite as well and it's been over 6 months since I last played, but wasting your energy by harbouring negative feelings towards the game won't change anything.

All video games are meant as a distraction. All media in general is meant as a distraction. How people choose to use their time is not in your control and, given they aren't hurting anyone, let them have fun.

@Maschinenmensch an hour is hardly long enough to understand and become familiar with the mechanics and systems the game has in place.

Don't get me wrong, I am not the biggest Fortnite fan, but I did put in probably around 300 hours across Xbox and Switch through 2018/19. The appeal of the game comes from the familiarity of 3rd person shooting, the uniqueness of the building mechanic, full cross-platform support to play with ANY of your friends and the customisation options for your character to help make you stand out and create a sense of individualism (however falsely perceived that may be).

Re: Daemon X Machina Is No Longer A Switch Exclusive, Arrives On PC This Month

I find it amusing that you linked to your "7/10" review whilst implying that means it "wasn't well received."

Games are the only media industry where receiving a 7 is considered bad.

May as well remove scores altogether or use a 5 star system where anything below a 3 can be considered bad and 0 represents everything you would normally award a 1-5 to.

Re: Rumour: Crash Bandicoot Might Be Returning In A Completely "New" Game

@Doktor-Mandrake

No offence to Ben, but I've noticed when people use broad terms like "feels dated" or "not the best" or "has its flaws", they never really elaborate and just tend to mirror terms they hear on journalism sites of on YouTube without any context.

Despite my profile picture, I am not the biggest Crash fan in the world as I never had a PS1, but the N Sane Trilogy is just pure fun for me.

The only thing that feels not fun imo are the "curved" edges that lead to crash slipping to his death more often than I'd like in the more precise platforming sections. Other than that, it's one of my favourite games to keep coming back to in order to grind out a few more levels

Re: The Original Rocket League DLC Packs Are Being Added To The Base Version For Free

So for everyone talking about the refund situation, psyonix have said anyone who bought these vehicles after October 1st 2019 are entitled to a refund through their platform's specific storefronts in the roadmap notes.

So instead of downvoting someone for asking a genuine question and telling them they're not entitled to a refund, maybe do some research.

As per their site:
"Players who purchased any of those DLCs on October 1, 2019 or afterwards will be eligible for a refund through your first-party platform. We'll announce the exact date for when you can expect to see this content added to the base game soon."

Re: Bandai Namco Shares First Screenshots Of Broly In Dragon Ball FighterZ

Okay, so without being a fanboy of the series, this seems like a really dodgy business model. In Australia the base version of this game never goes cheap and the additional season passed are in the realm of $50-$70 each.

That effectively makes this a $150-$200 game if you want the "complete" version of it.

Why is this acceptable?

Re: Blizzard Still "Exploring" How To Bring Cross-Play To Overwatch

Coach_A

@LightyKD paladins runs at 60fps on everything though. I know Fortnite can do it, but maybe Overwatch has had to cut more corners than visually recognisable to run on Switch? I'm not a developer so I can't say and I'm guessing you aren't either.

It's like saying "we're trying to figure out how to make this car be fuel efficient and drive quite fast" to which you respond "Tesla" not taking into account the engine, interiors and construction process of each car

Re: Forever Entertainment Confirms The House Of The Dead Remakes

@Wavey84 just look up all the titles they've published for the Switch.

They include the notoriously bad "Hollow", crappy mobile games like "no thing", the "Sparkle" series of boring microbe simulation, and then the apparently somewhat okay "Thief Simulator". Most of what they publish is mobile shovelware and almost all their titles frequently go on sale for 90% off. In fact they probably have 90% off at least some of their titles right now
