After a surprise landing on the Nintendo Switch in March, Panzer Dragoon: Remake has received a number of updates improving the overall experience. The most recent one in May added an option to enable 60 frames per second, added HD Rumble, Gyro controls, and much more.
If you haven't got around to trying out this release yet, now is the perfect time to take flight - with Forever Entertainment slashing the game's regular price by 33% until 19th August. This reduces it from £22.49/24.99€/$24.99 down to £15.06/16.74€/$16.74.
In our Nintendo Life review, we said Panzer Dragoon was a decent take on the all-time classic but didn't quite nail the landing. Keep in mind, the updates have since improved the game.

Waiting for 50% discount
I'm excited to play this but personally I'll wait for $10 sale.
I saw that when I was browsing the eShop last night but it's still not cheap enough to tempt me. Maybe next time.
I bought it day one back then. Was one of my most anticipated releases and it's announcement even did some heavy lifting in my decision to get a Switch.
Needless to say I got a brutal reality check.
The updates will never be enough as it is fundamentally flawed. Controls, camera angle and locking on all feel wrong.
Played the Saturn version afterwards for the first time in years and it was a fantastic play through.
Here’s hoping they nail the play mechanic when they release Zwei, or better still hand over the reigns to M2.
@X68000 Completely agree on this. Sadly. There is no flow to it as a whole. And that will not change by improving singled out issues.
But please let M2 do Jet Set Radio and REZ first.
Held back on this as I think zwei is a better game but even at 33% off it’s still not enough to tempt me
I'm still waiting for LRG to ship my order from March. I have been tempted numerous time though to buy it digital while I'm waiting and this just makes it more tempting.
I really hope we get a glimpse of the far superior Zwie sometime soon.
Oh no, it's only 33% off. I won't buy it unless it is more than 34% off.
(Just moaning like others do here in order to be trendy).
Considering this is a Forever Entertainment published game, you can expect this will eventually hit 50-90% off in the coming months.
I got it with this sale.
I didn’t think it would be all that good but it is for me. It’s a nice game with cool graphics.
I like it a lot
I'm still waiting for my copy from LRG...
@Thunderbee Thats good! I think it helps having settled expectations and take it for what it is without comparing it to the original.
I also have this one game that gets crap from everybody, but that I enjoy a anyway. (RBI Baseball 20)
Nintendolife would it kill you to put up the sales prices in euro too.
Its a great game. When launched it wasn't as good as the original, no, but it was a competent on rails shooter.
The aiming mechanic was off compared to the Saturn game but you could easily get used to it. Performance was perfectly fine at 30fps. Since the updates its sharper visually and with its controls too and feels more natural aiming and turning through the 90 degree views. I'm on board with developers that take feedback and improve games, let's face it there are plenty of switch devs that do not.
If you don't like this sort of game then no drama, give it a miss, but if you have affection for the original its well worth a buy - as long as you expect a reimagining not a 1:1 replica.
@Yanina was it that bad
I have watched a few videos and honestly the game looks like a cheap knock off not a proper remake so no interest.
If its on sale now, does that mean it will be released for PC soon?
@Roibeard64 looks like they have added in the euro price.
That drives me mad on this site. I know they are a UK based site, but providing $ but not € in articles is just, odd to me. Maybe that will change now.
@Anguspuss Not super bad, but just felt off and clunky.
And on top of that came the wrong expectation that it is made by SEGA and has that SEGA feel. But it is like @TheFullAndy said: feels like a knock off. But that is on me, since I was just assuming it's sega and not knowing about Forever Entertainments reputation at that time.
@Yanina
You would think Sega would have more reverence for one of their most iconic games but apparently not.
@TheFullAndy Yeah they are super weird when it comes to stuff like this. The Sega Ages 2500 line on PS2 is the best example. 50% of the games came from M2 (and where great) and 50% where absolutely horrendous.
Most popular negative example is Golden Axe:

@Yanina
Yikes that is awful!
It is worth the 17 ish euro they are asking maybe it's not as great as the original but it is hard to capture the magic of certain games from certain times.
Even the Crash Bandicoot remake, Castle of Illusion remake and Duck Tales remake are 'not as good' as their originals yet still all well worth their price.
I'd say the original is still there but getting a working Saturn with a copy of Panzer Dragoon is a much more expensive investment and Saturn Emulation is still wonky even in this day and age.
I only played Panzer Dragoon Orta on the original Xbox and have fond memories of playing that one.

I may check this out, down the line since I have the sequel on X1. I did hear this wasn't a great remake, unfortunately.
@IronMan30 As I said before, it may be a bit off from the original but it is not a broken game by any means.
Got this and Civ 6 for free on the Epic Store, still haven't touched them
@khululy as I said before, I may check this out down the line.
@khululy The original Panzer Dragoon is unlockable in Panzer Dragoon Orta for Xbox
@Yanina The PS4 version of REZ is perfect and has one of the best VR modes I’ve ever seen in a game. I’d suggest you play that game there, if you have the means to do so.
@imgrowinglegs I only got a Switch and don't really want a system that is relying on a TV. But I sure would love to play REZ, MLB The Show and GTA V
