Re: Review: Pokkén Tournament DX (Switch)

@Damo The scaling and sawtooth artifacts present in the Wii U version of the game are still present on Switch.

Even when taking screenshots in docked mode it doesn't look as crisp as 720p games do when I take screens of them.

I talked to Kaze himself about the possibility of Princess Daisy.

The good news is that he has built an API for adding new characters, so he said with enough time, it would work out. He said that if Daisy was to be unique she would have to feel zippier than the other two princesses, who are slower than Mario.

The bad news is that the N64's 8MB of RAM means that additional characters cannot be added.

Another game that released around the same era was Sonic Heroes for Gamecube....and I looked at the reviews for that game and they criticised the camera + controls just like you did here. In fact, two levels were dedicated to "pachinko" in a way.

But I like it because it took some 2D Sonic design elements and adapted them to 3D. Sonic had speed and momentum, Tails was for precise flying, and Knuckles was for slower powerful, and light combat. There were plenty of bottomless pits and branching paths/shortcuts that took skill.

But alas, people complained because of the controls being a bit loose, and SEGA responded by making more linear and restrictive games. Unleashed was the last Sonic game to allow for free camera movement...

@gatorboi352 I think this is true for amiibo though. So many one time amiibo are releasing nowadays. Do you think the Poochy amiibo will get a use outside Woolly World? What about that squishy Metroid? Shovel Knight?

Heck, my favourite amiibo, Princess Daisy, has no games that she can use her read/write functionality for, because all of them refuse. It's really sad when you think about it.

To add to that, Mario Sports Superstars Cards were intentionally designed to only work with that game and that game only, as was Shadow Mewtwo. What could have been a great way to collect cards of Mario characters and use them in multiple games got squandered. Badly.

I will still cling on to my dear Daisy amiibo. Here's what it unlocks when you beat an amiibo level in Hey Pikmin.

I am disappointed that Nintendo didn't prepare earlier games for new amiibo, as I had to try and patch the functionality in myself with Yoshi Wii U and Mario Maker.

Working on Mario Tennis next, that one is actually going to be quite challenging...
