Re: The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe File Size Speeds Into View

@sillygostly All Splatoon Series amiibo only unlock the orange costume. It's easy to code a game to allow amiibo based on a series like Animal Crossing or Splatoon. Just one line will do

Animal Crossing is Series5

Splatoon is Series8

Meanwhile, the Super Mario amiibo are split between two series (Smash and Super Mario), so individual character ID's have to be used.

For Daisy, it's 0x0013.

For Waluigi, it's 0x0014.

For Boo, it's 0x0017 (after Goomba and Shy Guy).

Also, they would obviously need 3 different suits. Funnily enough, Miitopia, a game coming soon, supports Daisy but not the other two.

Re: Review: Mario Sports Superstars (3DS)

As a Princess Daisy fan...this review... is fair and justified.

1. The amount of recycled content is just awful for a priced title. I had a complete lack of excitement when I saw the complete course list. A Golf Course like Golden Links would be better off as DLC for World Tour...and it already DOES feel like piecemeal DLC!

2. Bad unlockables. Metal Mario and Pink Gold Peach? Seriously? Did they run out of time? Baby Peach and Baby Daisy would make more sense, as at least effort would be put into making new animations and not lazy skins.

3. amiibo. They have seriously dropped the ball on amiibo support. None of the Super Mario amiibo work, unlike Animal Crossing amiibo figures in Happy Home Designer This feels scummy, especially as the more powerful Supestar characters are locked behind them. Getting 5 Princess Daisy cards is going to cost a lot of money and they won't work in Mario Party Star Rush or Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World.

4. Exciting stadiums like Bowser Jr Street or The DUMP are nowhere to be found, so this game lacks the spice and flair that's present in games like Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games series (which is frankly much more impressive than this game).

5. This should really be in HD in a home console environment. The 3DS has really hurt this game IMO. The Switch is the perfect console for this

Re: Nintendo Switch Battery Test Reveals Some Surprising Results

CheapCheepBeach

Nintendo were not lying when they said battery life will vary by game.

Doing tests on my PC, the amount of heat and noise generated is 100% dependent on what game I'm playing and what I'm doing in said game. The Witcher 3, with it's dense grasslands and detailed hair physics causes the GPU to rise to 80 degrees Celcius, and that's with the default fan curve. Less demanding games like Rocket League run at 59 degrees and a game like Sonic CD causes the GPU to idle at room tempertuare.

It's the same for mobile phones. Playing a video game like Grand Theft Auto causes the phone to burn in your hands and die in an hour, especially when explosives and the police are involved.

Even the developer on Minecraft Pocket Edition wrote that raising the render distance (how far you can see) is not good for the battery.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo 3DS, A System That Still Has a Role to Play

This system should honestly be dead after 2017, otherwise it's just going to hurt the Switch in the long run.

The Switch is marketed as a home console in order to not lessen it's value, but it's innards are handheld through and through. Even the ARM architecture is built for mobile processors.

All the 3DS games are either ports now, or ones using recycled assets. Look at the newest Mario Sports, which should have been on Switch.
