Nintendo has shared a list of the top 15 most-downloaded eShop games of September 2019 in Europe, and the top two positions definitely won't come as a surprise.
Any month featuring a new Zelda game is going to be pretty predictable - The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was, of course, the most downloaded game last month - but there's a nice mix of titles to be seen elsewhere including an impressive showing for our favourite pesky goose.
You can check out the full list below. It's based on the number of Nintendo eShop downloads (so no physical sales) in European territories during the whole month:
1. Zelda: Link’s Awakening
2. Untitled Goose Game
3. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
4. Minecraft
5. Blasphemous
6. Spyro Reignited Trilogy
7. Bastion
8. Hollow Knight
9. Stardew Valley
10. Cuphead
11. Transistor
12. Torchlight II
13. Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition
14. Undertale
15. Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Did you download any of these games from the eShop last month? Any surprises in that list? Tell us below.

What a lovely place the Nintendo eshop has become! I got Ori, Transistor digital and Link's Awakening physical!
I got Zelda (collector's edition), Goose, Bastion, Transistor (and Gato Roboto, Minit...). Until october 13th we'll see
I'm glad FFVIII sells so well. I want to buy it but the reviews are conflicting.
p.s. I have finished FFVIII when I was a kid and I own it on Steam as well (not the remastered version), but I want to experience it again.
Only bought Grid and Magic Nations in September. Most of this list is part of my wishlist and I double-dipped on Bastion months ago, though. Hoping to grab Transistor after tomorrow's payday as well.
I'm quite sad Grid didn't sell better, it's a great racer and a lot of care seems to have gone into the port.
I’ve bought so many games recently but I can’t stop playing GRID Autosport with my GC controller! So good.
I'd be interested to know just how many copies Minecraft has sold at this point on switch. It's feels like it's been a constant top 10 presence in all regions digital and physical since it came out.
Already have transistor on PS4 but 80% off to play it on the dunny is too good to pass up. I completed bastion my vita, and it was a pretty good port, but $3.50 to get it on the switch is very tempting.
@Mii_duck Would you say it is more sim or arcade? I dont have the patience or time for a sim.
3 of the games is from Microsoft.
@matdub - I'd say Grid is more of a sim than arcade.
You can't just barrel into a corner and slide around like Ridge Racer etc, you need to be more precise with the controls.
However, on the easier difficulties there is no real need to fiddle with the car settings or tune. You can just race straight from the off.
@SuperCharlie78 @matdub
Do you guys recommend Transistor then? Need some more tempting on it...
I had most of the games I'd have wanted to get. The ones I didn't have and didn't get are:
1. Zelda: Link’s Awakening
2. Untitled Goose Game
3. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
4. Minecraft
7. Bastion
9. Stardew Valley
10. Cuphead
12. Torchlight II
13. Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition
14. Undertale
15. Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
I'll probably buy Untitled Goose Game before the discount disappears, and Undertale/Bastion/Ori.
Won't be buying the rest, they're not my kind of games (well #1 would've been, but the art style is just... No.)
I got Goose. Thought it was ok. But too easy and short. Like very short. Should’ve been cheaper
I bought Zelda and stardew valley. The last one I also bought on my iPhone... that could be the better platform for the game.
Zelda is superfun guys!
Well even after NintendoLife's pants review it's good to see the best Star Wars game ever; Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast has reached #15
Final Fantasy 8 for me! I hope Links Awakening gets a nice patch for the framerate drop, then I'll insta buy it.
No one bought Dragon Quest 11?
I even bought this controller to play the game
Great to see Spyro doing well
I've bought a fair few games this past month.
Astral Chain
Spyro
Grid Autosport
Blasphemous
Links Awakening
Jedi Outcast 2
Contra Collection
Amnesia Collection
Gorogoa
Not all to my taste but I can see that it’s a fine list of software. Such a good time to be a gamer. Zelda is wonderful, first time I’ve played that version. I’ll get the goose on physical (I also want the socks too). I’m just holding off for Witcher now.
Ori and the goose were sufficient for me. Still don’t see the appeal of Links Awakening after a game like BotW (I may be old but my first Nintendo console was the DS. I get nostalgic about Penny Racers and the ZX Spectrum not old Nintendo games)
Surprised to see JEDI KNIGHT 2 sneak in there.
I'm only interested in one game in this list.
I guess I like different games than most people.
I picked up Link's Awakening on physical, and Ori and Untitled Goose on digital. I really wanted Cuphead and Dead Cells from the sale but a) I've ony got so much time and b) I've only got so much money!
I got Link’s Awakening and Blasphemous this month. Played Bastion, Cuphead, Stardew, Hollow Knight, Undertale, and Ori already.
I don’t remember liking Bastion that much actually. I’d be willing to try Pyre out by that same developer though. I wonder why that one didn’t come to Switch yet.
Ouch poor Ori. Didn't even rank above Stardew Valley's evergreen sales.
I was low-key hoping Goose game would beat Link's Awakening.
Dragon Quest 11 didn't even make the list? Do people in Europe have no taste?
DQ11 is a fairly big file size though, so maybe most went for a retail copy?
@Sam_Loser2 Actually, on the US eShop, it did beat out Link's Awakening on the best sellers list.
Nice to see Stardew Valley still doing so well! Fantastic game! Just seeing clips of it makes me want to start playing again. I wish they would add a new map or some new crops or something. I'd jump on a DLC expansion for the game!
I got **Untitled Goose Game** and had a lot of fun with my kids committing goose crimes
@matdub it's somewhere in between. You can adjust the settings so it's an arcade racer. But you can also adjust the setting to get a sim. It depends on what you want. It really is a racer for everyone.
@RoadieRunner definitely recommend.
