I literally turned off this button so it couldn’t be hit accidentally. That is the only time I have touched this button. This is the only time I will touch that button.
@lifer it is not up to scratch - still broken. Completely unplayable in the grove levels - massive stuttering, drops to 20 fps. Impossible to aim (annoying as lots of flying creatures in delta grove etc). Do not buy.
Never used it, never will, and won’t on principle - and I think Nintendo is going to regret wasting 3gb of ram on something so minor. 3gb would go a long way being utilised elsewhere. Do any third party games even use it?
Hopefully they do a ‘boost’ mode later on (similar to switch 1) once gamechat has failed and recover that ram overhead to use somewhere real. Hopefully the switch 2 OLED?
I also strongly recommend to others that you assent the game chat key to something else or turn it off in settings (I keep bumping it by accident)
@Dee123 start at 5, work your way up to 10. Then take over via a consortium, debt loaded of course, then cut devs, studios and downsize. Then feed all content into AI.
@TerribleTerabytes I think it’s more the majority of us that just want the resolution bump (I for one don’t play online) so the price then becomes extraordinarily expensive. It is not unreasonable to ask for a 4k resolution bump to be free, given I have already paid $90 for the gamecart years ago. I didn’t want ‘more game’, just the game I already own to work properly on my switch 2.
Utter nonsense. My eshop is still filled with big boob hentai soft core porn and ‘prison escape simulator - break out of jail - join a gang edition - remastered 2026 edition’ etc.
This story is bollocks regardless of what the interviewee says
“ In spite of its issues, Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition remains a key title for the console. It’s a hugely generous package…”
1) why is it a key title? It’s just an ancient port.
2) why is it a hugely generous package? It’s $90 for a 10 year old game that doesn’t run very well.
Then you gave it a 7?
This is a quite frankly a bizarre and contradictory review.
@Wood_Stick good question. When I was a journalist we also had rules around acronyms (always have to be spelt out in the first instance) and every technical term had to be explained. The rule was ‘understandable for a 65 year old (‘nana’) with no prior knowledge’.
I can remember my editor bollocking me about this stuff constantly (especially on biz tech stories).
Sadly, these ‘rules’ aren’t followed these days - laziness, arrogance etc. hilariously, modern journalism doesn’t have to contend with word limits, page space etc. a web story can be as long as it needs to be. They just don’t want to.
An embarrassing review for Nintendo life. The virtual boy is famously a steaming pile of hot sh*t, and will never be anything above a 3/10 - even for the most diehard fan.
It breaks your neck, has no (good) games, and failed in the market catastrophically.
@kalosn agree. Why would Nintendo give a crap about references to a 20 year old console? Wouldn’t surprise me if nothing gets changed.
Just a bizarre column.
If anything the iPod as an Apple licensing agreement will be the issue - not a hypothetical thought experiment where Nintendo is presented as a whiny baby threatened by Sony.
@ottoecamn 100% agree. It’s borderline trolling at this point.
Not only are game key cards pointless and stupid for not actually including anything - it’s destructive to the environment to create these ‘empty cards’ out of plastics and metals, and ship them around the world in dead air plastic containers. Literally shipping air.
It’s physical or digital, and I won’t buy in between
If Silksong introduced an ‘easy’ mode that made everything one mask damage (atleast until the citadel) - we wouldn’t be having this discussion. Silksong is better in every way, its difficulty is just unbalanced and unfairly tilted against new players
I don’t play multiplayer - but obv want the frame rate and resolution upgrades. Don’t think it’s fair to force me to pay for some multiplayer nonsense I will never use.
@BTB20 I do. It’s just so sad. 3gb of ram that could’ve been used for literally anything else. Textures, load times. Anything. It’s excruciatingly stupid that Nintendo decided to allot a quarter of the systems RAM to a stupid feature no one wants.
I’ve even disabled the c button because I kept bumping it during games. Never have used it, never will
@Scarmucci there’s a certain film you might need to watch, it’s called Star Wars. It’s the first part of a trilogy. It has resolution, and works as a standalone film.
Bizarre business. Their prices new are always $10 more than the conpetition, and their second hand games are nearly full price. Not sure why they haven’t gone bankrupt before now?
Mostly selling awful funkopops, and temu/etsy/alibaba grade plastic crap.
If you think this was the key issue with MP4 then I don’t have much hope for you. He was fine? Not really worth a discussion point. The whole game was an utterly broken, disaster from the midpoint onwards
Only real issue is battery, and I miss OLED a bit. But this will come later to switch 2.
Otherwise Cyberpunk, Donkey Kong, Silksong and Metroid Prime 4 have all been wonderful, generation defining gaming moments for me.
Once Elden Ring and Expedition 33 (fingers crossed) are ported, I’ll be set while I wait for the new Zelda and Mario. Everything else is just 4K updates for Metroid dread, Pikmin 4 etc.
I pity PlayStation and the other company who have really dropped the ball in comparison.
@Spider-Kev the first one is vastly superior. Doesn’t take itself too seriously, a more realistic narrative and better gameplay. I agree #2 felt directionless

Re: Nintendo's Apparently Cutting US Switch 2 Output After Lower Than Expected Holiday Sales
@tourjeff Donkey Kong Bananza is one of the greatest games Nintendo has ever released. So a pretty good opening stanza in my books.
People didn’t buy at Christmas because Nintendo didn’t release a Christmas top shelf game - and Metroid Prime 4 was a disaster

Re: System Shock 2.1 Update Brings Massive Improvements To Performance
@Automated_Unit_4937 warning do not buy! it’s still broken
Re: System Shock 2.1 Update Brings Massive Improvements To Performance
@Divide_and_Wander it’s not up to par. It’s still just as broken in handheld. You’ve all been warned
Re: System Shock 2.1 Update Brings Massive Improvements To Performance
@ballistic90 not in handheld. Stuttering with big framerate drops, especially in the groves. Sorry it’s still a 5/10
Re: System Shock 2.1 Update Brings Massive Improvements To Performance
@HugoGED unfortunately it’s still broken, stuttering mess in handheld in delta grove etc.
Drops to 20s? Impossible to aim and hit flying beasts
Re: Poll: Who's Your Favourite Resident Evil Villain?
Hi Nintendolife - long time resident evil fan here - literally played every game back to PS1.
I cannot remember half these villains - so in future it might be wise to write which game they’re in to help jog the memory.
For some reason you’ve only done it for the modern games - which ironically are the most recent and thus easiest to remember.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Sales Have Got Off To A Slow Start
It’s a really bad game. I don’t sit here wondering why bad games don’t sell. Nintendo loaded this turkey up as their ‘Christmas hit’ and it flopped.
Princess peach sold over a million in 10 days. That’s how bad MP4 is. The market doesn’t lie.
