For the first time since gen 6 I actually am excited for this. Pokemon games have been disappointing for the past decade (Legends Arceus aside) but gen 9 feels like this is everything the series has been building up to and I can't wait. Also this is by far my favorite trio of starters since gen 3.
So I have no qualms with the gameplay. I mean it's Pokemon it's hard to screw that up. But it cannot be understated how much I loathe the art style. I didn't like it when I first saw it but seeing in motion in person makes me absolutely hate it. This is by far the worst looking mainline Pokemon game, remake or not. I mean the chibi style, in battle it looks fine, and baffles me why they didn't do something like Sword/Shield or the Let's Go games. Graphics aren't everything and I'm still loving the game but the art style is truly bad.
This game is a masterpiece, and always has been. This game alone sold me on 3D games and the N64. Still one of my favorite games of all time, easily in my top 3. 64 out of 64 stars.
@13AM_Alex I knew plenty of Boomers who played games in the 90s. My dad, a bunch of his friends, my exes' dads, neighbors I knew....and every single one of them almost exclusively played Doom/Wolfenstein and the like.
I am not the biggest fan of FPSs but Dusk is one of the best FPSs I've ever played. It's right up there with Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein 3D. Okay yeah those are all super old games but that's what Dusk is emulating and it does it perfectly. I might even say I prefer Dusk to all of those. Absolutely stellar game. I own it on Steam but I'm probably going to rebuy it on Switch because it's really that good.
I've always liked Other M and I've seriously never understood the hate it got. It's not my favorite Metroid, not by a long shot, but I always liked it a lot
I always hate it when people blindly bash a game for years and years then suddenly everyone loves it. It's almost like one person played it, hated it and everyone else hadn't even played it but just assumed it was bad because one person said it was, then one day everyone starts actually playing it and realizes it's actually good.
Reasonable to me because people seem to forget how cheap $20/year for the regular NSO is. How much is PS4 online, $60 a year or $9.99 a month? To me that's unreasonable. $50 a year for N64 games is a no brainer for me. I sub to PS4 online and I get almost nothing of value out of it. I never play the games that you get with it, and I never play online on PS4. I mean yes cheaper is always better but everyone always wants everything for free. I will happily be paying and playing N64 and Genesis games.
It does sound like a lot but it's really not that bad. $20/year was already ridiculously cheap. $50 sounds like a big jump but it's still less than $5/month if you think about it. Cheaper than PS4/5 and Xbox.
Is it weird that this is my currently most anticipated game? And I would love a Cruis'n Trilogy HD on Switch! Maybe have some enhancements the arcade versions had like better quality music too.
I'll go on record and say I actually loved Other M and Federation Force wasn't all that bad. That said, I'm team Zero Mission all day though I can't say I dislike any of the Metroid games.
Definitely. Although I'd rather have a proper Wario Land title. Maybe they could incorporate WarioWare games into a Wario Land platformer. That would be cool.
The name didn't ring any bells but as soon as I saw the figurine I knew it looked familiar, and after Googling I knew there was a cartoon with that character that I remembered as a kid. This looks surprisingly good. Might have to keep my eyes on this one.
Oh please please please be true! I love the Cruis'n series. I have so many great memories playing them all in the arcade and still play the N64 ports once in a while. Probably my favorite arcade racers of all time.
Of the ones I've played... 1. VIII 2. XI 3. IX 4. V 5. IV 6. VII 7. II 8. I
Still need to play III, VI, and X (the latter will probably never happen.) If Builders was included I might have put that because I actually love those games.
That's really stupid. It's weird, I didn't care all that much about fast travel nor the amiibo itself, but it still turns me off knowing that something like this is locked behind a $25 figure that will likely become impossible you find a day after release.
Anything creation related like this and Mario Maker.... my 15 year old self would've LOVED. But as an adult with a family and 2 jobs, I just don't have time and dedication to create anything worthwhile. The repressed creator in me still kind of wants this game, but like Mario Maker I'll probably dabble with it for a few days then leave it to collect dust on a shelf. That said I think it's awesome that Nintendo has been giving people creation tools. Like I said if I was 15 this would be heaven but when I was 15 the most creative thing we had was Mario Paint...
Yes but preferably in 3D. As others have pointed out, would've been perfect to have on 3DS. If they released in 2D I'd probably only care about Wario Land. But in 3D sure release them all!
Love the look of these but I just can't justify the prices. Too bad they didn't make a small pumpkin Banjo for $100 or something, that's something I'd buy instantly.
Partly nostalgia. Partly because I genuinely believe games were mostly better back then. Partly because owning a physical cartridge means I can play it forever whereas newer consoles are ticking time bombs. And the further we get away from physical media the more I will go back to the old stuff. Knowing that when my PS3 and PS4 console batteries die the games, both physical and digital, will become completely unplayable, just makes me not even want any new console anymore. My NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, PS1 and PS2 are all going strong and have never failed me. No hour long downloads to update. No fear that these games might not work in 10+ years. And the libraries of these old consoles are so deep end so enjoyable still to this day that I could stop buying all new games and still be a happy gamer for the rest of my life.
If any 3DS game deserves a second life on Switch, it's Kid Icarus Uprising. The game is phenomenal but the control scheme severely limited my enjoyment of it. It's extremely well made and if they pushed it and made a sequel or marketed the series more it could be big just like Fire Emblem went from barely existing to hugely popular outside if Japan. Kid Icarus Uprising was a 10/10 game with a 5/10 control scheme. It worked but it was very uncomfortable and that alone made me not want to play the game. Even though I did play it because the content was really that good. An HD port with a fixed control scheme would make it a masterpiece.
Seeing as Secret, Trials and Legend of Mana have made their way to Switch, could it be the rest of the Mana library? Maybe...just maybe...Secret of Evermore too?? Nah that'll never happen, I'm the only one who loves and remembers that game.
Nintendo 64 still looks the most amazing on my game shelf. And that's just the regular charcoal color. The other "funtastic" translucent color line looks even better, especially the fire orange one. Shout out to the orange spice GameCube though.

Eventually, as I have way too much to play right now. Elden Ring will be at the forefront for quite a while.
