The ninja turtles inclusion is already tempting enough for me (Also 80's turtles and not 2012 or the Rise? Interesting). If the game is decently fun I'll check it out. Hard to have full impressions as I'm at work and can't watch the trailer.

Seeing Danny Phantom on this list is bittersweet; I enjoyed that show so much, but at the same time Butch Hartman is a morsel of monkey's excrement, and his fame as an artist has only inflated his ego, and he sees no problem plagiarizing lesser known artists' work for a commission.
But if this brawler is going to use his characters, where's Timmy Turner? I know he wouldn't be able to do much just throwing punches, but he has Cosmo and Wanda for that. Sure, Da Rulez prevent him from winning any competition with magic, but you could BS your way out of that in a crossover by saying that the characters are all being placed in the world where rules don't apply.
EDIT: Oh... Wow. I take it all back, except my tangent on Butch. All the other characters look well modeled and animated, but Danny Phantom just looks weird and wrong and I don't want any other Butch Hartman characters in this at all.

I love this game, but I only have one problem. WHY IS JIMMY NEUTRON NOT IN THE GAME!? I understand it’s not one of nicks most popular series, but it still deserves a chance to be featured in a fighting game. I only really say this though cause I’m a huge Jimmy Neutron fan. Don’t know how rest of you all think. I just think it’s ridiculous that every thing nick ever makes anymore incorporates every nick platform except him, and I think its just racist in a sense of using all but one specific seties

@Snatcher Edit: I saw Zim in the trailer at the 1:00 mark, unless that's a different Zim, my Nick nostalgia is a little blurry.

Looks surprisingly competent in both art direction and execution. Hopefully it meets expectations upon release.

And I cant help but think how much more amazing this game could look if they took ArcSys' approach of stylized 3D to imitate 2D animation. All the characters listed so far come from 2D animated shows, so it would check out. But I'm sure ArcSys sinks a lot more cash into the visual side of development than Nickelodeon is willing to put up.

Not gonna lie. When I saw Nigel Thornberry was playable I got excited. Probably not going to play this on Switch though, because I'm sure the framerates will be lower.

@NinjaWaddleDee The fact that you had to rely on other platforms just to get good performance on a game just show how weak devs of this gen really are. Even Smash Bros. for N64 ran at 60fps, for future Smash ripoff not able to achieve that on consoles more powerful than the N64 is just disappointing.

I hope this turns out well. It looks like a blast. Powdered toast man is basically the main selling point for me. 😂

spectacular, more devs should straight up mimic the style of smash, and as much of the gameplay as possible

I'm surprised they are using the 80s TMNT designs instead of the ones that Nick created. Maybe they are planning a 80s styled reboot of TMNT?

@Ghost_of_Hasashi I agree with you. I'm not a graphics person, but I need at least 60 fps in most games I play if possible.

@NinjaWaddleDee its not even that, the game looks very muddy, and there was clipping every were, the game also looks like it going to have very loose smash physics, and most if any of the characters here looked like they had good movesets let alone animation.

I heard the game supposedly had rollback netcode and wavedashing. The game might have more thought put into it than your average licensed ripoff.

Staggering roster announcements is fine but cmon - two of the turtles only in the first announcement - like anyone believes the other two might not make it haha.

That's one of the things I miss about the Nintendo/Sega era, there were lots of clones of popular game genres and usually a few good ones with their own twist.

So far we have 5 smash clones if I'm not forgetting anything:

Honestly, I'm happy to see some old cartoon characters here, like characters from Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Ren and Stimpy, and even Invader Zim. It helps make the game appeal to adults as well. Seeing a roster full of unfamiliar characters would just make me feel old.

Dreamsworks did have a block on Nick for a while, but Shrek is not owned by Nickelodeon/Viacom.

@JoeyTS What I came here to say. It's fine making a fine looking licensed game like Kart Racing 2, but without any voicework it just feels all a bit too soul-less and empty.

If they put Waluigi in this, I would forgive 2021.

@AvianBlue Cartoon Network did this same thing about 10 years ago. It's called Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion, if you want to look it up. And no, Nick and DreamWorks aren't the same company, though they've worked together on multiple occasions. A Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar animated series aired on Nick, but never a Shrek one.

You can see in the screenshots that one of the stages is the Western Air Temple from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Hopefully that means we'll get playable Aang if nothing else, but I would also really like to see Zuko and maybe some more Avatar/Korra characters. I also want Fairly OddParents and Jimmy Neutron representation, which was strangely absent from Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2.

The best characters are the obscure ones like powdered toast man, and nigel thornberry. I hope bolbi is next with the slap slap slap clap clap clap combo

According to the leaked cover, Aang and Korra will be playable characters, as well as Ren, Stimpy, and Catdog.

Can't wait for the fighters pass dlc that includes Disney and Cartoon Network characters.

@Ttim3r @RareFan Appreciate it, guys! I didn't see a mention of Aang, but I can't imagine they would have Korra and not him. Hopefully there are plenty of other characters not shown on the box art that will still make the cut. Fairly OddParents, Rock's Modern Life, Jimmy Neutron, My Life as a Teenage Robot, The Mighty B, El Tigre--so many great shows that could use the representation! Stuff like Fanboy and Chumchum would also be pretty great for the memes, haha.

@RareFan Ah, yeah! Gordon and Waffle and Mr. Blick! That'd be cool, definitely one of the more obscure Nickelodeon shows, but I would love to see that kind of underappreciated stuff here. Did you know Catscratch was made by the same guy who created Earthworm Jim? Talk about crazy! Never watched Angry Beavers, though.

I just hope that they learned from their mistake with the recent Nickelodeon kart racers and make the characters actually have voice clips during gameplay. With how colorful the personalities of these characters are in their source material, it would make a world of difference in terms of enjoyability.

You forgot to mention the fact that this is developed by the creators of Slap City, a great indie platform fighter. This game will have wavedashing and rollback netcode. It's gonna be gooood.

This game is going to be a financial and critical failure like most smash clones and I highly doubt their will ever be a competitive scene for this game

I've always thought if one-day Smash Bros. will have a stronger competitor that will defeat it.

There have been so many better nick shows... there ARE better ones airing now that will age better then that horrid show (which I had the unhappy privilege of seeing when I went to the dentist and they had nickelodeon on of all things).
