Re: Feature: But The Future Can Change - Chrono Trigger And Learning To Love The World

AmazonianBeauty

I didn't find out about Chrono Trigger until about 2000-2001, and I very nearly let this one pass me by. After playing it on an emulator, i knew i wanted this game, so i ended up getting a loose copy in 2004 from ebay for about £30-40, I also needed a universal adapter so i could play it on a PAL SNES.
Really glad i did because the prices for this game are crazy now.

I loved the story, the characters, as well as the emotional moments you see between them in the game, the timezones, the duality mechanics. (Something i liked from Oracle of Ages/Seasons.)
Even the music and visuals impressed me for a 1995 game.
I started playing with a stock SNES, and discovered how much better this looked going from a modded RGB scart cable to an Analogue Super NT. Heck even the music sounded gorgeous to me in stereo when using an optical audio cable.
There's not a thing i don't love about this game.

Re: Random: Movie Star James McAvoy Says His Favourite Game Is Secret Of Mana

AmazonianBeauty

Despite being quite a tough game, I really enjoyed my first time....almost completing this game. I'd borrowed the game from a friend at the time, and made it to the penultimate boss which i eventually beat, only to be completely flummoxed by the final battle. Eventually i did get my own copy a few years ago and have since completed the game.
Like some have said about Secret of Mana, I did experience this game with all original hardware including CRT, but I liked my more recent experience using an Analogue SuperNT, HD clarity, and Optical audio. Oh wow what an experience.

As well as Secret of Evermore, Mystic Quest Legend and Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana is also one of my fave RPGs too. All of you who like these games, very good taste.

Re: Talking Point: One Year On, Has Everyone Beaten Ganondorf In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

AmazonianBeauty

I did eventually beat Ganondorf, once i'd focused on Shrines, powered up a little, kept switching between exploring the depths, then the skies, before going for the 1st dungeon, wow what a trek. Then back to casually exploring again and happened across Misko's fiercely powerful armour and its sword. Poe farming, and then went after other armours to complete some of the side quests and then more shrines, then started on the other dungeons. Finally got the Master Sword and Hylian Shield, and after all that I'd then fully upgraded the Misko armour i got earlier to then go in and decimate Ganondorf. I absolutely loved the Ganondorf's battle phases in TotK.
Sorry if a bit of a long post. I'll breathe now xD

Re: Creators Of New Switch Emulator 'Suyu' Hope To Avoid Nintendo's Wrath

AmazonianBeauty

@WheresWaveRace Not everyone wants to emulate on PC, but it's their choice if they want to. Same with modding, it's subjective. Usually people are content with a more responsive experience. Example: Try playing BoTW or ToTK on original switch hardware, then try it emulated on a PC with much more capable hardware with no performance drops, then try going back to the Switch.
Either way you're playing it how the developer intended it to be played whether you realise it or not.
We're only talking about making a copy of what you've paid for for personal use, it's not the same as expecting something for free from a developer.

Re: Creators Of New Switch Emulator 'Suyu' Hope To Avoid Nintendo's Wrath

AmazonianBeauty

Nintendo, just what is your problem with Emulators?, It's a virtual instance of the system hardware, their intended use isn't for piracy. Last time i checked, Making a copy of a game you've legally purchased, for personal use within an emulator, is not piracy. The same goes for the console you own, using those encryption keys for use within the emulator, again personal use.
However, i completely agree that It's piracy when these copies are distributed with others. This takes potential sales away from developers.
I for one am not sold on their argument saying that piracy and emulation will likely stifle future creativity, Yeah, you keep telling yourselves that Nintendo, despite the fact they'll be receiving $2.4M from taking down YUZU.

I can only really see good things from emulators, they can also enhance the experience of games, eg: better performance and resolution for games. I didn't need to mention playing online with emulators as i was focusing on Single player games, and using them online would be risky. Accounts could be banned etc.

Other than the 'Piracy' Argument Nintendo always seems to bleat about, I fail to see what their issue is with these Emulators.

I loved the name of this emulator btw, Very sly!
Apologies for the long-ish post.

Re: PC Port Of Zelda: Link's Awakening Offers HD Visuals And 120fps Scrolling

AmazonianBeauty

I've already downloaded this, and really liked what i've played so far.
I'm not sure what Nintendo can do about this project, because a quick look at the included source code tells me that someone built this from scratch in C# and XNA, and not used the original 6502 Assembly source code from the Game Boy version.
This could even be a clean room project.
However, Game assets(Sprites, sound effects and music etc.) could be an issue though, I don't know for sure as i'm not a legal expert.
This was an awesome project, and i absolutely love it.

Re: 50 Best NES Games Of All Time

AmazonianBeauty

Oooh, Some good choices on this list. I completely disagree with Metroid's placement, it deserved so much better. Yes it was the first in the series, and had some flaws but did it really deserve to be lower than the few too many sports games i saw on this list? Blades of Steel and Tecmo Super Bowl i think, these games were never my cup of tea but surely other peoples faves would've deserved better.
Oh and am i the only one who thought 'The Goonies II' was missing from being mentioned?

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metroid Prime Remastered?

AmazonianBeauty

I'm waiting for the retail version, but although i've not played the remaster yet, and from what i've seen of the visuals by the various footage there is on youtube, like any metal head, I'd have to turn the score up to 11. m/
Also laughed at the Prime number jokes in the comments, i missed that joke myself. Very funny!!

Re: Video: Metroid Prime Remastered - Switch Vs. GameCube Comparison

AmazonianBeauty

WOW, I absolutely love how gorgeous this game is looking.
Initially, I thought this was the trilogy when it was announced in the Direct, slightly disappointed, but i can't really say anything negative to this game.
While, I've still got my original Gamecube copy, I am however very tempted to buy a physical copy of the remaster next month.

Re: Nintendo Has Been Patching A "Severe" Vulnerability Found In Some Online Switch, 3DS, And Wii U Games

AmazonianBeauty

Awesome. I was hoping for a way to soft mod my patched switch. If this turns into a viable way of installing CFW, then i'm all for it. Once again, Not condoning piracy at all, but if there's a way to dump the games you've paid for and own to a PC for personal use in an emulator, then yes please. I don't play online switch games so, I'm happy not to update.

Re: Best Of 2022: Which Is The Absolute Best Nintendo Console Generation?

AmazonianBeauty

I didn't mention the Switch in my previous post, though as a fan of Metroid, I had to get one for Metroid Dread. I loved this game.

I have also played a lot of New Horizons which i absolutely loved. Even the Doom Eternal/Animal Crossing Crossover at the time.
The fan made 'Eternal Horizons' tune is awesome. 'The life was quiet all around, cute little island, nice and non-violent.' XD
Doom Guy and Isabelle memes were cute and funny!.

Although I'm really looking forward to playing Metroid Prime 4, and Tears of the Kingdom when they're eventually released, i really do hope Nintendo are remaking Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, as i loved what they did with Links' Awakening.

Re: Best Of 2022: Which Is The Absolute Best Nintendo Console Generation?

AmazonianBeauty

'What Nintendo Generation do you think is the absolute best generation?' All!! 'But you can't do that' WRONG!!
Joking aside, This was a very tough decision for me, and I couldn't just pick one, as I feel like I'm tied between SNES/GameCube/3DS and Wii U.

I really loved the SNES for Super Metroid, ALTTP, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World/All Stars, and many other RPGs.

I nearly gave up on the Gamecube, and Metroid Prime, maybe from burnout at the time, but months later i did return and eventually complete it, and the many games i've got in my collection. I've really grown to like the Gamecube, and the Gameboy Player Accessory. I also liked the other consoles for backwards compatibility too.

I absolutely loved the 3DS/New 3DS' Stereoscopic 3D effect, Every game i played felt so immersive on such a small screen, I loved Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and Fantasy Life.

I liked the Wii U for its quirkiness, even though it was really a prototype for the Switch, and probably why i found it so interesting. Emulating one on a PC is also a lot of fun when you see games like Breath of the Wild running on much more capable hardware.
Like before, Each of these consoles had games i really enjoyed playing.

Re: Random: Turns Out You Can Make The GameCube's Game Boy Player A Lot Better

AmazonianBeauty

Ooooh, A Gamecube article. I absolutely love these, as it means more love for Nintendo's awesome little cube!!

I have a similar setup for my Gamecube/Gameboy Player:
Action Replay boot disc, Media Launcher with 2GB SD Card, an SD2SP board (acts like a little hard drive), an EON GCHD Mk-II HDMI adapter.
Once you're in Swiss, there's LOADS you can configure to make GB/GBC and GBA games look awesome.
I also have the Broadband adapter and one of those HORI pads, and WOW, i'm just amazed at how much those are worth these days.

Re: Talking Point: How Were You Introduced To Metroid?

AmazonianBeauty

I think i remembered playing the original Metroid in a Debenhams for about 5-10 minutes. I think it could have been in 1989/90 i don't remember exactly when, though i didn't understand how to play it at the time.

For me, my first real experience of the Metroid series was its sequel Metroid 2 - Return of Samus, which i borrowed from a friend at school.
I remember being surprised at already having the Maru Mari at the start of the game. (The Morph Ball)
I do remember something funny though, the first time i played it, I got stuck at the start because i didn't know to jump up and shoot downwards to clear to blocks. I do wonder how many people didn't realise this.
Once my friend told me, i figured out the rest of the game.
I got lost plenty of times, but i eventually completed it.
For such a minimalistic game, it had so much atmosphere.

Though my fave in the series is still Super Metroid!!

Re: Nintendo's American Branch Didn't Like The Idea Of GameCube Being Purple

AmazonianBeauty

Purple Gamecube a Terrible idea? You Fools!!
I was never convinced. Actually It's made the Gamecube even more memorable to people, at least in my opinion.
Even when i got a used Gamecube in 2002, i preferred the purple one instead of the black one. Luckily for me, I did eventually get the purple one for myself a few years later, and gave my other console to a relative for a christmas gift. We both still have them all these years later.

Re: Nintendo's Switch Exclusive Metroid Dread Is Already Being Emulated On PC

AmazonianBeauty

Since buying this game on Friday, I've loved every moment of playing Metroid Dread.
I don't have any issues with anyone emulating consoles on PC, as piracy doesn't come into it. As long as you've purchased the game, and only make a copy on your own PC for personal use.
I've done so with Wii U games that i've bought.

I'd love to emulate Switch games, but unfortunately i can't do so with my console being patched!!.

Re: Fans Celebrate All Things Metroid As The Series Turns 35

AmazonianBeauty

Yay, Happy Anniversary Metroid
At the time didn't own an NES, but i wanted one, though I remember playing the original game very briefly when i was little, so i knew of the game. I didn't become a fan of Metroid until the sequel game, Metroid II on the Gameboy.

I've since bought most of them, except a few: NES game, the Wii's Prime Trilogy, Prime Federation Force, Prime Pinball.

I really can't wait to get Metroid Dread in October, and Prime IV when it's finally released, hopefully soon

Re: Nintendo Says More Animal Crossing: New Horizons Content Is In Development, Next Update Drops This Week

AmazonianBeauty

I wanted to go back to playing New Horizons, but unless there's something significant like for example, Tortimer Island Mystery Tours, Club LOL, the Roost, and/or some kind of upgrade for Nook's store, just for starters added to the game, then I doubt i'll play as frequently as i used to.
Nintendo have missed a lot of opportunities from not adding stuff from New Leaf, and maybe from other games too.
Please don't allow it to wither away, Nintendo, because this really would be such a shame.

Re: Metroid 5 Is Coming To Switch, And It's 2D

AmazonianBeauty

I've been a fan of Metroid since Metroid II on the Gameboy, I didn't have a NES at the time, though i have since played it. When i first saw the announcement, Metroid 5...YAY!!! 'Metroid Dread' - OMG It's REAL!!
I'd actually given up expecting this game. WOW At last I so can't wait to get this game....and Metroid Prime 4.

Re: What Are Your Favourite Switch Online SNES And NES Games? Nintendo Wants To Know

AmazonianBeauty

From what I've seen in the selection of games,
NES: Kid Icarus, Kirby's Adventure, Metroid, Ninja Gaiden, Legend of Zelda, Link's Adventure, Solomon's Key, and Super Mario Bros 3.
I'd love to see: The Goonies II, TMNT and Fester's Quest

SNES: Super Metroid, ALTTP, DKC, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Super Mario World, and Demon's Crest.

I'd love to see Chrono Trigger, Unirally, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, The Magical Quest, Mystic Quest Legend, Jurassic Park.....Trying to think of others.
Even if none of these appeared on the service, I wouldn't exactly be bothered by this, as I already own many of the original game carts i've mentioned for both consoles.

Re: Nintendo Announces Super Mario Remasters And Much More In Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct

AmazonianBeauty

Wow...I was happy about everything mentioned in this direct. Super Mario Themed furniture for New Horizons? Yes please
Aww...I was kinda hoping SM3DLand would get a Switch release, but i will so get 3D All Stars, and 3D World + Bowser's Fury. Oh and i really must get one of those Super Mario Bros Game and Watch games.....
I've Always loved Game and Watch games. ^_^

Re: WayForward Is Releasing Two Classic Shantae Games On The Nintendo Switch

AmazonianBeauty

Oooooh, A Re-release? Awesome Since I played Risky's Revenge, Pirate's Curse, and Half Genie Hero, I've wanted to get the original GBC game for a long time now. I've not played Seven Sirens yet.

I stupidly passed it up back in the early 2000s, and really wish i hadn't as i can't believe how much money this game now fetches.
I really hope Limited Run Games leave everything as it was from the original, and maybe it'll drive the original down.

Re: Developer Creates New SNES Game In Just 10 Hours

AmazonianBeauty

I've had a quick play of this new game, and it was a fun little distraction. I kind of got a 'Game and Watch' style of gameplay vibe from playing this for some reason, and made in 10 hours? WOW I think this is pretty awesome!
Or it could be after trying to get a super high score from playing Fire on Game and Watch Gallery Advance.

Re: Famitsu No Longer Tracking Sales Of Wii U In Japan, Final Figure Stands At 3.3 Million

AmazonianBeauty

I really liked the idea of the Wii U when it was announced at e3 in...2011(Just checked)
Admittedly i only bought one last year, and I've had lots of fun with it already. I only have 4 Wii U games (Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Wind Waker HD, and Tropical Freeze), but i would love to get more. I will get more, as there's so many i want to play.
I have also installed the Homebrew launcher on my Wii U, as i like dabbling with that stuff. I need to get around to trying Gamecube emulation on there. (I also have a Gamecube too)

I agree with @Lord, Nintendo Failed the Wii U not the fans.
Maybe if they'd picked a better product name to distinguish the fact it's a much more powerful console than the Wii, They may have seen more sales. I remember when i bought it, i was talking about it to a friend, and they too had thought it was the same thing as the Wii. i explained to them no and yes: It is a new console, with backwards compatibility with the Wii.

I won't be forgetting the Wii U.

Re: Video: This New 3DS Hack Allows You to Wirelessly Stream Video to PC

AmazonianBeauty

@3792M
By default, the New 3DS doesn't give you better performance with original 3DS games, However.... with hacks, and using a program called Hans, You're able to make use of the higher clock speeds of the N3DS when playing 3DS games.
I own a copy of MGS3 and have tried it with this hack. I can see an improvement in frame rate, but at the moment, i can't use the C-Stick. (Also, not all games work properly or run at all when using Hans)
(I'm not sure if this has been resolved yet)

I won't disclose where to find out about hacking, as that's up to you.

Re: Video: This New 3DS Hack Allows You to Wirelessly Stream Video to PC

AmazonianBeauty

I'll be the 1st to say this is why people hack their 3DS. Not for piracy or illegal stuff, but for things like this, as well as importing games.
(I won't go on about those who cheat in games by hacking, or disrupt services like the eShop etc. Shame on those guys for spoiling it for everyone else.)
I was hoping someone would figure out a way to do this, and i actually welcome this if they manage to implement a stable build. Thank you hackers for doing this.

Re: Super Mario 3D Land

AmazonianBeauty

This was the reason i wanted a 3DS when i bought mine 4 years ago and was the 1st 3DS game i bought.
Super Mario 3D Land still remains my Fave 3DS game.

Re: 3DS System Version 10.4.0-29 is Now Available for Download

AmazonianBeauty

I actually want to keep my homebrew and IronHax stuff, and TBH, i've not seen much on the eShop, just lately to tempt me back to Nintendo's Collective. (I'm still looking forward to seeing what else Smealum can do with the exploit, I'm really liking being able to switch the New3DS CPU to the higher speed with many of the Old 3DS games, though not perfect)
Nintendo: COMPLY and become Stable with our update!!
ME: NO, I won't Comply!

Re: Video: Take a Look at This Super Mario Mod for Sonic Generations

AmazonianBeauty

Ooooh, Yes please very much!!
I for one love what those modders can do, especially with Sonic Generations.
I am absolutely loving the Sonic Generations Unleashed mod without having to play the Werehog levels xD
I'll be even more interested if someone manages to do a mod of Super Mario 3D Land using this, (It's my Fave 3DS Game btw
Any mods like this are very welcome in this gamers opinion

Re: Reminder: Club Nintendo Closes in Europe on 30th September

AmazonianBeauty

oh great, what a terrible time to only have 2900 points, i was kinda hoping they'd drop the prices by say 1-200 points, then i'd be able to afford either MK8 or SM3DW soundtracks Ho hum.
Now i've just ordered my last Club Nintendo item a Light Blue Power up pouch for the 3DS, hopefully it'll look nice with my New 3DS XL
