@HappyMaskedGuy haha... I mean, I didn’t win anything?
I was just pointing out that this isn’t worth getting upset about. It’s a minor error made by a person who probably has a passing interest in Pokemon. You then compared the impact of such upset as being paramount to being a slave trapped in a volcano. I was simply stating that you seem to be agreeing with me whilst you’re insisting that you’re not.
As for me having a difficult life? Where on earth did you get that from? My life’s pretty awesome.
@kingbk To be fair, it did go on a big break and then they brought out Origins, which was very different to previous games. Even Odyssey came out two years ago, so it’s not like they’re an annual franchise. Odyssey was more of a refinement, but very much an improvement. Both are widely considered to be great games that significantly advanced the AC series. Everyone is allowed an opinion though, but out of interest, did you play AC Origins or Odyssey (the last one was one of my favourite games in a long time - so much so that AC Valhalla is one of my most anticipated games this year).
@Creature I agree. Variety is great. I can’t wait to play the likes of Cyberpunk and AC Valhalla in super 4K goodness, but at the same time I really enjoy smaller focused games and this one in particular looks really good. The animation looks great, the art style fits with the and even from the trailer it seems to have an interesting story told through expression and that’s the sort of thing I’d really enjoy.
@HappyMaskedGuy erm... you’re kind of proving my point here... “ slaving in the sulphuric haze of a volcanic crater” is, in your opinion and by your words, comparable to seeing a picture with a minor inconsistency.
As a few have said, digital only works on PlayStation and Xbox because they have well supported, consumer friendly online accounts that allow sharing within families and can be used on multiple machines without issue.
Nintendo have none of those account features. I am mostly digital myself, and I would ordinarily be an advocate for digital media. But with regard to Nintendo? They need to sort out their account system and consumer policies first. Nintendo get a massive pass for some reason- it’s like people don’t want to call them out or else they’ll get called mean.
@ReWane It’s not really that they could be considered a good leaker, since a lot of this stuff is quite normal in the run up to E3. It just feels a bit different because of how things are being done during lockdowns etc. A lot of the information also relates to PlayStation and Xbox, both of which we know have game showcase streams this week/month.
@CowCatcher 19th June is 4 weeks away. Not that a week makes too much difference. That does mean there’s only 4 weeks between the rumoured date and OK. Given the differences in development times, the fact that MPT has been rumoured finished for ages (since 2018?), I see no reason why the carts for MPT couldn’t be printed 4 weeks before OK carts.
You’re probably correct (in all fairness) to assume that the date is unlikely, I just don’t think it has anything to do with digital/physical releases.
@CowCatcher I’d maybe have agreed with you if Paper Mario Origami King Wasn’t a thing. That’s physical and digital and it’s a brand new game, not a port/remaster. That’s out middle of July.
@Damo FYI the trailer apparently includes a tease that a full Nolan movie is going to be shown in Fortnite at some point this summer as well. There’s no indication of which Nolan movie yet - although the best guess seems to be a Batman movie since his skin is already in Fortnite (source: Eurogamer - although I suppose you can also validate it by watching the trailer in game as well, which I haven’t yet done myself).
@NoNoseNosferatu maybe they have made donations? We don’t know what they do privately. I don’t really see how doing something for fun for charity could possibly be seen as anything but positive.
Wouldn’t that require them to actually start first? It’s more of a necessity rather than an ‘appealing’ product. Unlike Xbox Live Gold/Ultimate Game Pass (as for value for money; I paid £76 for just over three years of Xbox Ultimate Game Pass. That’s value for money!).
To me, this makes as much sense as any physical game.
We’re not even moving towards a digital future anymore... we’re living in it. Therefore, I only see value in physical copies if it is for collection/collectible reasons, or if it is a game known to hold re-sale value (which, due to being in a fortunate position, I’m not too bothered about). Games that don’t hold resale value generally only give between £5-£10 when traded (although I can financially afford games, I am limited on time to play them so it normally takes me a while). You can save £5-£10 if you wait for a good sale (easily making them as cheap as or cheaper than physical copies in a lot of cases).
But, I also didn’t really enjoy it on Apple a arcade either. I felt the physics were too inconsistent. I agree with the other person who said it’s better suited as a very quick pick-up and play game. The sort of pick-up and play when you wouldn’t necessarily have your Switch to hand.
I have always distrusted anything Pachter states. He has proven time and time again that he might be a very good analyst, but he is very much a ‘suit’.
Thank god he isn’t actually responsible for any decision making and he’s just a professional guesser !
@RazumikhinPG Of course I’m interested in kiddie orientated stuff... I have kids.
But hey... if your unwilling to accept that different people are interested in different things... well, there’s not much more I can say other than good luck. You’ll need it.
YOU find that random stuff you posted more interesting. It isn’t necessarily ‘news’ though (random doodles aren’t news).
It’s just opinions. But other people’s opinions are going to be different to yours and they’ll find different articles more interesting than you find them. Yes?
Therefore NL career to all their readers, not just you. I feel like you understand now?
@RazumikhinPG yes... there were a lot more links, like gameplay videos, game tips that aren’t as effective as people thought, release dates that were already known.
I did check. It’s just that you’re passing off ‘internet content’ as “important news about upcoming video games” and then claiming NintendoLife for not having the same level of interest as you in said ‘internet content’ - again, not news.
@RazumikhinPG I think that news of an entirely new Switch game (regardless of its use as a promo piece or eco-political statements) totally competes with the ‘news’ that someone drew a crappy Pikachu/Darth Vader mashup...
@RazumikhinPG I’m with @original_pmf . This is interesting from a parental perspective. But it’s also interesting from the perspective that NatWest, of all companies, are aware of the Switch and it’s relevancy. Probably exaggerated by the current world wide situation. So much so that they’ve made an entire Switch game as a promo piece.
So even without the useful parenting info of an experience that can be shared with kids, this is interesting regardless.
Just because you don’t find it interesting doesn’t mean it isn’t interesting to others. Plus, what important news about upcoming video games did they miss?
Yeah... I don’t think EGX is happening either somehow. Even if we are lucky enough to get this all completely handled by September (which is incredibly optimistic), events such as conventions will one of the last things to go back to normal, along with cinemas, football games and other mass gatherings of non-familiar people.
In addition to that... the venue will also be a bit... grim?
@westman98 Yeah, I agree. I see the point that @nkarafo is trying to make (I think), that Nintendo will at least need to remain relevant in the conversation somehow and I think that this may mean a hardware revision rather than a traditional successor.
But I don’t think any interest is linked to graphics or capability. The Switch is it’s own beast. I own all the gaming platforms and I play on Switch for a certain kind of experience... or sometimes it’s just immediacy and accessibility of the platform (playing in bed or on break at work).
Increases in profits IS good for business, but I’d imagine Nintendo would want to distance themselves from linking any kind of success to the current situation.
@Moistnado whilst art style is incredibly subjective (I for one think it looks great, a real good modernisation of the classic look) it seems a bit harsh to say that the price tag is unjustified (don’t quite understand the ‘unproven’ aspect of your comment). All the reviews I’ve seen so far seem to have nothing but praise for the game (Eurogamer even rated it as ‘Essential’!).
@Silly_G Interesting... I’m going to do a bit of work on it at some point in the next few weeks since it actually has some application In what I do for a living.
I mean, it’s seems fairly obvious that the fact a ton of people working on Stadia and within Google’s games development teams are ex-EA employees might have had something to do with it.
It’s like people have forgotten that ‘networking’ is a big part of maintaining/generating business partnerships. Which is exactly what this is.
@NicolausCamp this was my first thought... 3DS has a fairly competent version of SFIV, so surely an almost PS3/X360 quality port should be easy enough?
@BulbasaurusRex As at @Wargoose said... it’s perpetual. Leave release submission for two weeks and find a new bug/glitch. Leave it another two weeks then to fix that, but now you’ve found two more based on feedback from play testing. Leave it three weeks then... ah, crap! Now you’ve not paid your small team of staff for another month.
Orrrrrr... submit, release and patch day one and the devs who made that game for you to play can get paid.
(Edit: just seems your new comment - I’d hazard a guess that this patch is probably a few fixes but also for things like the classic characters/mode and the Battle Mode, which are recent additions - so think of it like free DLC).
@Dirty0814 that’s fine, you just might not get the product at all though in that case.
Like I say, there needs to be considerations for how development complexity has increased, especially for indie teams. They can’t hold a product in development forever just to iron out bugs that can easily be remedied with a post launch patch - they need to make money off said product. It isn’t being greedy, ‘rushing’ it or any other defamatory remark that anyone would want to sling at them - it’s the cold hard truth that running a company requires you to pay your staff (or else they’ll go somewhere else for employment) and invest in new tools and software for future products. If they don’t release the game by a certain point they start to see a loss in returns, which then affects the stability of the company relative to its size.
Plenty of really really good games get patches, so getting a patch is not an indication of quality either.
@FargusPelagius but that’s how game development works now... it wouldn’t surprise me if the day one patch related to the ‘classic’ characters and the ‘battle mode’ which came later in development.
The options are we stick to how things used to work and everything gets shipped day one and that’s it; or, we have day one patch’s to iron out glitches that only became know later on in development and too late to put in place before the game ships (obviously going to happen with more complex games and with indie games where the dev teams are smaller), with the added benefit that additional patches can added QoL improvements based on player feedback or even additional gameplay elements.
Honestly, complaining about patches is like biting the hand that feeds you.
@Kalmaro In the UK, in a public place, potentially yes.
If you’re just walking along the street speaking to your friends and you casually swear in conversation, then no, you’re not going to get arrested.
Make a show of yourself, and shouting whilst swearing whilst families and decent people are trying to go about their daily activities - then, potentially, yes. It falls into one of three classifications of offences under ‘Public Order’ offences depending on whether your being offensive in general, offensive to someone (orsome group) in particular or if you’re being offensive and threatening.
@Kalmaro in the UK it is consider offensive language. The actual meaning of the word (‘illegitimate child’ or ‘nasty person’) is also meant to be degrading.
However, in the context of it being used in these comments (referencing the title of the game) then it should not be considered offensive (really, it’s only offensive if directed towards a person specifically or if it is used in a public space in an obviously offensive manner, for example continuously shouting “you’re all a bunch of bastards” - that sort of behaviour could get you arrested).
Edit: poor example of ‘offensive’ nature of the word where I used another offensive word
@kingbk I think you played Warface. Not Warframe (which coincidently, when I typed ‘Warface’ my auto-correct changed it to ‘Warframe’, so maybe that’s what happened with you).
If you haven’t played Warframe (which isn’t an FPS and can be completely solo play if you want it to be), I’d recommend checking it out. It’s been a while since I played it, but what I did play was fun.
Complaining because of skill-matchmaking reducing the fun of the game? Why? Because they get pitted against similar skilled players and can’t continuously dominate on noobs? Not being funny, but that sounds fair. It’s a bit dumb to consoling about that.
Complaining because the servers are busy because people are isolating? Those people need to have a long hard think about what they’re actually saying and try and be a bit more compassionate.

Complaining because the servers are busy because people are isolating? Those people need to have a long hard think about what they’re actually saying and try and be a bit more compassionate.

@Anti-Matter not really. A few. But not lots.
