@jamesthemagi Nintendo isn’t doing anything because of Coronavirus. It’s a Spring sale. That’s what they’ve called it. That’s what they call it every year. No one is arrogant, other than the people asking for more and using the current world situation as a way to justify asking for more. That was my point. I don’t think pulling people up on that puts me ‘on a high horse’. The person I made that comment to even acknowledged that I had a point. You seem to be asking for a deeper discount just because you think it makes more business sense, regardless of Coronavirus, which is fine (even if I disagree- you even acknowledge the supply and demand logic).
But don’t condescend me because I pulled someone up for saying ‘please can we have a bigger discount because Coronavirus is sad’ (which is what was happening and it’s what you commented on).
You think it’s OK for people to ask for a bigger discount on video games because... Coronavirus? I’m sorry if I’ve misunderstood, which I’m assuming I have, because surely that can’t be right?
@ThanosReXXX Your post got progressively more aggressive as it went on.
I mean, clearly I disagree. I could level my counter arguments why I believe your points are wrong and why digital media is not better, but certainly complimentary. I could even level the same insults of people being moronic and idiotic. But I can’t be bothered.
I quite like digital media, which means I get to carry on being quite happy with how things are progressing. You can carry on being grumpy (and it’s not an age thing... I’m probably older than you, which is maybe why I can see the wood for the trees. A benefit of not constantly looking backwards!).
@datamonkey I’ll take that as a ‘No’ then; you can’t see how ironic your comment is.
You weren’t trying to use the pandemic to ‘better your position’. You were using it to suggest Nintendo are greedy for not offering a bigger discount. It’s pretty gross. And greedy.
@datamonkey I wonder if you can see the irony in your comment... requesting a price cut and then using the current pandemic as justification for why your desire should be fulfilled. Greed begets greed?
In the UK most of these prices are comparable if not cheaper than when the same game is on sale at retail.
@elpardo1984 that’s exactly what I was thinking. And not just thenExCel Centre but London in general. The highest number of cases in the UK (by quite a large margin) are in London (obviously, it’s more densely populated with a public transport system used by a significant proportion of its population).
I can’t imagine many people wanting to go there if the pandemic has ended by then. But I also don’t see the pandemic ending (properly) until much later in the year.
@setezerocinco with games getting larger and larger it’s going to get more and more common that they won’t fit (either due to size or the cost of the larger capacity cartridges) on a disc/cartridge. If a person maintainS the opinion that any game that requires a download is an insta-pass, then those people may find themselves missing out on a number of games ‘just because’.
I see no logical reason to be fearful of the benefits of digital.
@AstroTheGamosian @graysoncharles Well they said they’d ban people who are disconnecting on purpose. A single disconnect is unlikely to draw that conclusion. Remaining connected for the duration of a play session and then repeatedly disconnecting just before a player loses should be pretty conclusive evidence that they’re doing it on purpose.
If you have crappy internet then what are the chances that it’s actually really good most of the time and ONLY decides to be crappy just before you lose a a Pokemon battle? Ten times in a row?
It’s fairly easy for GF to suss out the offenders when you think about it logically.
I really like the look of the DualSense controller. A good combination of something old and something new. The new features sound really interesting as well.
@GrailUK This is the main thing for me... if it didn’t happen on April 1st then it isn’t an April Fool’s joke. It starting in March (?), for me, means you didn’t kid people on April Fool’s day, you started to kid them in March.
Same with the Flipnote stuff. The joke was in March. You just told everyone it was a joke on April 1st.
The ‘I work at Nintendo AMA’ on Reddit was a good April Fool.
@Leu10antFalcon I I mean, I could just point you back to my previous comment (from a month ago!!).
Xbox Game Studios is the department within by Microsoft that manages all of their game development and production studios. Minecraft is owned by Microsoft because they own Mojang. Mojang falls under the umbrella of Xbox Game Studios and is therefore published by them.
Xbox Game Studios is a department within Microsoft. Microsoft has not renamed to Xbox Game Studios. That why when you by a new copy of Windows it is still Microsoft Windows and not Xbox Game Studios Windows.
I’m not lying (or confused), a simple Google search will clarify this for you.
@mrmememan I don’t think we’ve ever had a Direct on a Friday have we? I’d love to be as optimistic, I really can’t wait for the next Direct, but I don’t see it happening this week.
@Kalmaro I’ve always thought of a console as a significantly stripped down version of a PC. They’re all computers, but a console is something designed to specifically play games (although these days they also act as set top boxes as well - or in case of the Apple TV a set top box that also functions as a console).
A PC very much is considered a separate ‘platform’ because of how much more functional it is. In terms of what Apple TV can do- it’s practically the same as Xbox One and PS4.
I mean, it’s still not a console exclusive... I know it’s not super popular, but the Apple TV is a games console... and Exit the Gungeon is on it (and has been for a while).
I mean... aside from all the QR and Tom Nook stuff, only considering communicating and playing with friends, the game is just as compatible with the Discord app as it is with the Nintendo app.
@Leu10antFalcon FYI- Microsoft isn’t called Xbox Games Studios. They’re still called Microsoft.
Xbox Games Studios is the division of Microsoft that collects all of their game development studios under that one banner. Stating either ‘Xbox’ or ‘Microsoft’ in the context of this discussion makes sense; just wanted to clear up any potential confusion for anyone reading.
@Maschinenmensch that’s fair enough, even if it is a little strong.
You’re still conversing on an article about it though... just pointing out the irony that you state you want to ‘avoid’ it yet you’re intentionally engaging with content centred around something you ‘hate’.
@BionicDodo I was thinking along the same lines... moving house in a few weeks and thought a lovely Darksiders bookcase would go nicely in the new games room!
How disappointed I was when I realised they meant ‘steelbook’. 😂
Not such much of a bang... more that they’ve just done their jobs and gone home.
Being the best seller out of three when the other two have new consoles coming out this year isn’t exactly a huge achievement. One could probably predict that the Switch will continue to be the best selling console until October/November when the new consoles come out.
@sixrings found it... it was some comments being made by people following an article earlier in the week. Apparently Directs have followed the week after the NSO library gets updated (as it did this week). No idea why this would make it the 19th though (are Directs normally on a Wednesday). Either way, it’s just more speculation. I guess we’ll all just wait and see.
@sixrings yeah... that’s fair. Although, as per the article, this isn’t the longest we’ve had between directs. We’ve another 20 days to surpass the previously longest period, and last week there were some drawing conclusions that we could see a Direct on 19th Feb. I can’t remember the reasoning though... I’ll have a look and see if I can get back to you why that was.
@Northwind it’s the article literally below this one on the NintendoLife website. A quote directly off the Japanese AC website specifically stating that you won’t be able to transfer save data, even if it’s because you bought a new console.
As for this article- I’m with everyone else. Better safe than sorry.
I don’t really remember the Ty games being that big of a thing when they first released (maybe I was already too old?), and initially thought that this was a bit of a ‘meh’ announcement.
But watching that video, the game actually looks quite good. A lot more polished than I thought it would be. At the very least it’ll be worth looking into as a family game (my lad and Mrs love games like Crash, Spyro and Mario Odyssey).
I don’t understand why some are perceiving this as a bad thing, or an insinuation that it reflects poorly on the game. This is one of those weird Nintendo things... because it happens all the time on PS4 and Xbox, so doesn’t really mean anything.
@Panopticon yep... not sure why it’s news worthy either, considering the previous review pegged it as ‘average’. Hardly seems something to get excited about unless you’re specifically already a fan of the game.
@Ratchet916 I was about to say the same. These aren’t ‘Pro’ controllers. That’s not even how they’re marketed. They’re ‘Enhanced Wireless’ controllers.
The article is very misleading. There’s a significant difference between these controllers and a Pro controller (I already own several of each).
The only special edition Pro controllers (as far as I’m aware) are Xenoblade, Splatoon and Smash ones.

Wireless audio is the only other thing I’d want.
