Curve Digital has revealed that Hotshot Racing – which was supposed to arrive this month – has been delayed until Summer 2020.
Formerly known as Apex Racing and created as a tribute to classic Sega arcade racers, Hotshot Racing is being held back so the teams at Lucky Mountain Games and Sumo Digital can ensure the best possible experience.
To make up for the delay, some gameplay footage was released yesterday as part of the Escapist Indie Showcase.
Were you hoping to get your hands on Hotshot Racing this month?

Yeah, I’m in - looks like my kinda game
Can't wait, looks fantastic! And with Sumo digital jumping in to help out it has a great chance to be great.
Only racer on my wishlist. If this plays like it looks, we're in for a treat
I mean, Summer 2020 is only next month. That’s not that bad.
I’m fine with the delay so much to play right now, but this will be a day oner for me looks awesome xx
Bummer. I've been watching for a release date since we're in June now. Looking forward to this one.
I’ve been waiting for this game for about 78 years I think. I can wait a couple more months.
It is summer it’s been summer for over a month
No word on a physical release on any format?
All I'm looking for is a physical Switch arcade racer that runs smooth and in 720p in handheld, with the entire game on the cartridge. Not much to ask - if Burnout or Hot Shots can provide this experience then I'll buy it, but otherwise I won't.
I need that Porsche! I don’t mind waiting as I know it’s going to be good with Sumo Digital on board.
"has been delayed until Summer 2020"
@Buckyooliver but has it? Meteorological definition of summer begun 1st of June but the majority of the world works with the astronomical season system in which summer starts at the summer equinox (between 20-22th June- this year 20th).
God this game looks sooooooo goood
I can wait, for perfection.
The only rubbish thing about this game is the title, sounds like a crappy mobile game.
Glad Sumo are on board... outrun 2 style drifting....
Love to have wireless local confirmed
Low poly games are sweet! I hope this game does well.
Man this looks sooo good!
Day one but for sure
@beazlen1 nothing to do with the finance world, try the educated of the world!
@Andgiles sorry big man xx
This makes me happy
Delayed until summer 2020? Oh, well that's fine. Summer solstice is June 20-21-ish. I can wait a week
(Probably mean Q3, july/aug/sept, though)
My most anticipated game
Definitely purchasing, just purely for the arcade drift appeal basis alone. Plus I'm loving the low poly style of it.
Anybody recognise the voice over guy? (I do)
I'm pretty excited for this one. I don't mind waiting if it means a better final product. I've played through all the non-playground things in Horizon Chase Turbo so I'm itching for a new racing game!
I applaud this: if it means a complete game on release with no "day one" patches to add things that they ran out of time to fix then delay it and fix it, the developers will have much more respect from us patient Switch owners👍
I'm guessing the pandemic is the reason for the delay here.
Looks like a great game.
it all about drifting, I’ll stick with Horizon Chase
@Benji80 What anime is that in your profile pic? I've also been very hungry for this game or any arcade driving game with drifting. I've been waiting for 90s Arcade GP (90s Arcade Racer) since the Wii U. Meanwhile a SEA of driving sims (like Gran Turismo PS5) are constantly announced and released.
@Ajent For them to release this delay statement means it would probably be near the end of the summer rather than begin of the summer.
@Benji80 THANK YOU! I knew it looked familiar.
Man I feel the same way about Hot Shot Racing, and Horizon Chase Turbo very great and fun game I just wish it had drifting. Glad Hot Shots has a chance of coming out, I have Outrun 2 too those are the kind of controls that I miss. Sonic Racing Transformed had it but I've been hungry for arcade time extension levels.
Did they mean Summer 2020 in Australia? Cuz its the last month of summer here in the US.
