@speedracer216 Pretty hard to do math when your figures are out of whack. You don't need a controller beyond the one (2 split) that comes with the system. Beyond that there are numerous options for a second controller, none of which are $100. And if you are spending $200 on an SD card you are getting ripped off. Pretty sure my 128gb card was like $35...
Also, please come through with the motion controls. It will be worth the effort and give the Switch version a nice bullet point for those of us fed up with the imprecision and forced auto aim of dual analog.
I like some of Crescent Moon's work on mobile, but this looks another level. Really hoping for the best, but my main concern is enemy AI and diversity. Some of their other games have had nice feel and mechanics but were let down by very basic enemy encounters.
Anyway, I hope it evokes Turok and/or Unreal the most. Far from the best FPS, even of their time, there has always been something alluring about the exploration and isolation of those games that could do wonders for Morphite.
The desolation of an alien planet, strange structures to explore, and a guns-blazing tour with all sorts of crazy weapons to discover. Anyway, I hope that' s the foundation...
To me this is almost the perfect riff on the 2D aesthetic of Square's RPG classics. I think it is as beautiful as a game gets and I love that it celebrates the era of sprite RPGs evoking a grand sense of wonder with meager hardware.
Octopath Traveler feels made for me and I was desperately afraid it would become vaporware, so I couldn't be happier to be sprung a demo of all things. I even love the absurd name.
@Lone_Beagle Obviously I agree, Morrowind probably cracks my personal top ten if I'm honest.
The world, the story, the music, the guilds, the sidequests, the freedom in character building... I could go on, but none of it was nearly as good in Skyrim and Oblivion. Really the only aspects those two have on Morrowind are overall size, graphics, and improved combat feel.
Even then there is something about Morrowind's art and setting that I am particularly fond of. If a remaster could spiff up the graphics a bit and maybe include the better melee combat from Skyrim then we'd really have something.
Unfortunately Bethesda thinks they can leverage Morrowind to get us to pay for Elder Scrolls Online... Making a remaster even less likely than the already miniscule odds. I fear that someone actually pitched a remaster do to fan requests and the marketing geniuses, who probably view ESO as their baby, see it as a way to save face by putting lipstick on a pig.
Please remaster Morrowind + expansions and port to Switch. Amongst a dream, Azura summoned me to post here for this most vital cause and in honor of Nerevar.
Hmm, do I use lunchtime to feed myself or play Spinmaster?
When I was younger it was simply a matter of funds, buy a burger or play Spinmaster and chew on pocket lint... If I had a few salt and pepper packets there was no contest.
I am of course thrilled with more Metroid, but I see it a little differently. The failure wasn't neglecting Metroid, rather it was neglecting the entire action/adventure ethic and audience it stands for.
What I mean is that the expectation placed upon the Metroid series to singlehandedly cultivate and nourish a receptive audience is misplaced and unfortunate. The return of Metroid could find even more success and impact if that audience was first reinvigorated with a new franchise attempt at offering sustenance in the wide gap between Metroid entries. The potential reward would be much greater if another respectable franchise could catch on with the typical Metroid audience and beyond.
Nintendo is continually putting Metroid games behind the 8-ball demanding to those games to solely fulfill a niche in the catalog with little crossplay. Obviously franchises like Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and Zelda broadly succeed in their roles, but there is more interplay and correlated interest among those audiences. They also appear all-age appropriate at a glance. Metroid doesn't have this degree of benefit in Nintendo's market and will always alone fight tooth and nail to prove the worth of it's audience.
@JaxonH To be more thorough, the original Famitsu article claims, "aiming at the creature lines up the aiming in-game. But it's different from RE4 because there's no on-screen cursor."
Truthfully, this is a pretty weird collection. Only RER1 on cartridge despite RER2 being newer and having never released on a Nintendo system. Only RER2 has local co-op despite being only downloadable and RER1 including it in lastgen versions (except WiiU). Include motion controls but potentially handicap them by mistakenly catering to easy, casual play. Sounds like a Capcom port, I guess.
@JaxonH Maybe not just like RE4, read my post above. If true this is extremely worrying and completely erases any real interest from me. But I have to admit, it totally sounds like Capcom and their tendency to totally f*** up practically every good idea they have with nonsensical decisions.
If the aiming is similar to RE4, I will buy two copies, one for me, another for the wife. Please don't do us like this Capcom!
@FX102A Me too, but everything I've read suggests the first is far superior... However it's also the only one I've played, though s long time ago. Not likely to buy the others separate either, so it really is a disservice to dole them out like this.
Just a warning, there is word going around that the motion aiming in this might just amount to pointing towards an enemy to auto-aim.
Not confirmed yet, but if true this has to be the most disdainful implementation of motion aiming yet. Does Capcom look down on Nintendo gamers, or what?
Every year I'm disappointed that these companies fail to release their horror games in time for Halloween on Nintendo systems. It's like they don't want to give their games the best chance to sell...
Anyway, my thoughts on this release are simple. Must have gyro aiming and local co-op. It appears both are supported so I'm in... Except it seems only R2 has local, which would be a shame since the ghost ship raid level from R1 is the best ever.
Very happy to see a physical edition. Just unfortunate it couldn't release a month or so earlier to avoid Mario. Would've had the 3D platformer genre to itself.
Wasn't able to grab anyone in my family which is surprising since my wife and kids play stuff like Mario Maker, Yarn Yoshi, Tropical Freeze, Shovel Knight, New Super Luigi, Cave Story, Freedom Planet, etc. nearly every day.
Rayman Legends bores everyone here, very few of the stage gimmicks are any fun, instead most are just an annoying chore. And it often feels too easy with only filler to compensate.
We all thought Origins was just OK, so I guess their response should have been more expected. But we find something about Legends particularly revolting. I'd rather bang my head against the very first game's difficulty wall myself.
@IceClimbers EA no doubt made the right call to me. Not even much of a soccer fan, but I will buy FIFA if it plays well. I love basketball and have been pining for a good Switch b-ball game, but no way in hell am I paying a premium for an experience worse than I can get for a pocketful of shells (previous year versions).
I don't need this years 2k game, I just want a good one on Switch. Half the frame rate of last gen versions doesn't instill that belief.
@Paraka Framerate affect mechanics, it is directly related the input of your actions, to gameplay. That is the point. They sacrifice fps to achieve better visuals. You have it backwards.
@Nintendoforlife I have the Wii U version and it is not good. I am not falling for that again, hence no purchase on Switch. Doesn't support your point at all from my perspective.
Everyone downplaying the important of frame rate here looks silly. Sports are about fluidity of movement, to best achieve this absolutely requires high fps and smooth animations. I'd argue all day that frame rate is one of the most important features of a good sports game, it's not an area of compromise.
Sports games need to be 60fps. Not even considering this anymore, but I haven't really liked any of the previous NBA 2k games, so no big loss I guess. I do love basketball though and am dying for a good basketball game...
Perfect pixels. This will be soooo good. My son is worried you won't be able to turn into a dragon though, if so consider his hopes and dreams shattered.
Excellent news, not expected at all. I'm only interested in this genre on PC, Tablet, or Switch... Considering I rarely buy PC games anymore due to the incredible backlog and my Tablet basically functioning as a virtual pinball device (with some Balder's Gate 2 and Planescape: Torment mixed in, oh and Crazy Taxi and Carmeggedon)...
Anyway, a Switch release is the best possible outcome for me. I'll be there day one.
Really great news, I need this game to be great on Switch since it is the only prospect of filling the action/extreme sports void. And it certainly has a striking, original style that appears to mimic the actual intensity of zipping down a mountain.

@Ralizah Look up No More Heroes boss fights... Like Destroyman, Bad Girl, or Speed Buster for a feel of the style. Or Holly Summers, Letz Shake, or Harvey Moiseiwitsch Volodarskii for the spirit. Or Shinobu and Henry for intensity.
All from the first game, not to downplay the greatness of Desperate Struggle's bosses.
Stop with the mobile bias, there are loads of good mobile games in every genre. If you like gaming, you should appreciate what mobile offers, otherwise look inward and decide whether you are a gamer or a fan.

That's worth a lot to me, it's just unfortunate that isn't what the market wanted and that it couldn't become more.
Tri-forked Lizal Boomerang and Giant's Boomerang are my favorite weapons to use, easily. Master the art of throwing/catching and flinging boomerangs, arrows, and bombs everywhere is too much fun... I mean, isn't that essence of LoZ combat?
Though, I admit it doesn't seem quite right without a hookshot.
I know a lot of people who still play GO, but none of them are interested in the convoluted Raid process. Just a complete misunderstanding of your audience, bordering on lack of respect... How could they completely and utterly blow it like this?
Looks brilliant to me, makes me miss the chunky old Game Boy... There's something alluring about the simple hardware and old-fashioned games that to me will always be true portable gaming.
I actually adore modern games that work within the limits of previous hardware/generations. Sorta like making songs via analog 8-track recording rather than a PC/Laptop, there is value in working within set limits, especially creatively. Adding more tracks and effects can help a song, but it doesn't instantly make it better and bloat almost alwatys adds a lot of time and effort, potentially for little reward, or worse. There is definitely value in attempting to do a lot with a little.
So, they clearly increased both the movement speed and rate of fire, making the Sloshing Machine feel quite a bit better than before. Honestly, a part of me is more salty that the Blasters alone still have to deal with the horrible speed debuff... Along with some of the highest ink consumption in the game, mediocre range, poor coverage, and some of the slowest ink recovery due to the nasty ink recovery debuff.
Am I mistaken or did this review fail to mention the shockingly awful slowdown in co-op? Do not get this game unless you want to play solo. The original is the way to go with a partner, or alone if you ask me.
@meleebrawler Yes, well in that case I expect the inklings who use the Sloshing Machine to be ripped rather than the noodle arms they have now.
No seriously, why does the function of a washing machine matter? The idea is a quality of life thing, you haven't really given a reason not to do it. The Sloshing Machine has enough drawbacks against the Slosher line, why not let them hold the trigger rather than jam it?
With the other Sloshers and their higher rate of fire and overall strength it makes sense, with the Sloshing Machine it just doesn't feel right, besides the weapon already demanding greater aiming skill and few other benefits (effectively only slightly better range).
@meleebrawler That's kind of my point... It's a machine, why doesn't it just launch the shots without swinging. It's not a bucket... I see no reason why not make it automatic.
If I remember correctly it has a speed debuff more in line with the blaster line as well, which just makes it a weird decision all around to me.
