Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes was arguably the biggest reveal of this week's Nindies Showcase, confirming the return of Suda51 as the game's director.
Timed to coincide with the Nindies@Night event, more details and artwork have been revealed.
Check out the official description and concept art below.
Grasshopper Manufacture, an award-winning Japanese developer of videogames is delighted to announce the return of Travis Touchdown in Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, due for release for Nintendo Switch in 2018.
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is a raucous 3D action title, where Travis touchdown wields the Beam Katana to massacre his way through countless enemies, taking on ferocious bosses in an epic battle with Badman. This marks the first time in ten years that SUDA51 has taken on the mantle of director.
“We’ve received a tremendous amount of support from our fans over the years, and we are delighted to finally share Travis Touchdown’s next great adventure with fans of Nintendo Switch,” said Goichi “SUDA51” Suda, founder of Grasshopper Manufacture. “We’re ecstatic to be expanding the No More Heroes universe in 2018, and we can’t wait to share more information with you in the coming months.”
Set in the remote countryside of the southern US, one year has passed since the events of No More Heroes. Badman has come to exact his revenge on Travis for the murder of his daughter, Badgirl. As the two foes are battling it out, they’re sucked inside the phantom game console ‘Death Drive MK-II’, a machine developed by Doctor Juvenile. It is said that whomever collects and beats all six of its games will have their wishes granted.

Are you excited about this coming to the Switch as an exclusive in 2018?

Nice.
I never played the first two games but I've watched someone play the first. My friends are pretty hyped about this game.
Is this the Power Glove Switch?
Loved some about the first and some about the second. Hope this third one finally perfects everything. And I am so ready for some HD Rumble Suda-Style!!
Huh, so it IS a 3D game, then. Since this was included in a Nindies showcase, I've been assuming that, at least compared to the first two NMH games, it would be similar to the little-known duo of 360/PS3 games based around the character Matt Hazard.
The first game — Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard — was a fully 3D over-the-shoulder shooter. The downloadable sequel — Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond — was a 2.5D Contra/Metal Slug clone.
i'm in. port old games too, please. whet the appetite with the first one in hd before release, and add in that nutty cheerleader with the beheaded boyfriend simulator. also, i wonder why it wasn't titled travis strikes back. it's like the empire strikes back was titled the empire strikes again in japan, or something.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Nintendo Quality of Life stuff. Heart monitor on your hand. You know, old promises and whatnot. Like Metroid returning. Finally.
Cool, I'm really looking forward to this. I wonder if they're going to re-release the first two games on the Switch as well.
Please release a special edition with that Travis power glove included. I'd be all over that.
I'm mixed about this...
I'm sure the game will be great, but I don't think there should've been a third game.
Looks gorgeous though!
I still love how they used that font for the logo.
Shovel Knight has now been confirmed as one of the indie titles he gets sucked into oddly enough.
@Neon_Blues are you serious?
Anyone that loved the NMH saga dreamed about Suda coming back to make a third game, me included, there could be so much to tell about Travis' story and background, this is a dream come f***ing true!!! XD
Love it! Can't wait to see actual gameplay!
@Jamotello Travis strikes when he wants to, not because he needs to.
@Neon_Blues NMH exists as Suda does. It only ends when he ends. Our opinions don't mean s***.
I have still yet to pick up a Switch as there is not enough games I want to get out yet but this is the only exception. If I don't own a switch when this is release then I will buy it so I can play it.
BOSS.
Travis out-kitches his earlier self!!
I was worried this would just be a mini-game compilatio, but not any more. I cannot wait to play another NMH, time to replay the old games!
They should re-release the first two on NS as well.
Moe!
That's it! Travis has created a new recipe. 😉
This is the first I've known of this... Travis is BACK??
So.... so elated, Yes Suda51, YES! I cannot wait for this game!
Sounds good to me. The first two games were awesome, expecting great things from this one as well. Since 2018 marks the 10-year anniversary of the series, it'd be nice if we could maybe get a collector's edition with a physical copy of the game at retail to commemorate the occasion.
I can't wait for this. I want the first two games on Switch.
Looks great! Decent ports of the other two games would be welcome for those of us who missed out the first time around.
I can't wait for this game! Also Yusuke Kozaki's NMH work >>>>> his FE work. I love the character designs in both series but I really feel like he's being challenged to come up with truly unique character designs in NMH whereas I feel like he's going through the motions a bit with FE
Travis' shirt, currently unavailable on Google Images (my search-fu is weak at the moment), pretty much sold me.
If you want to know what I mean, let's just say Travis will "simpson" the "fox" out of Unreal Engine. Biting the hand humor in a Switch exclusive aimed at a game engine whose arrival on Nintendo console was a "better late than never" kind of godsend? It takes a pair and I love it.
@brandonbwii shovel knight versus travis and that cheerleader? i'm sold. it'll be the indie super smash, but with weapons. drop in that guy from something of the damned, and others.
I don't know if this already has been mentioned on the site, but Shovel knight and Hotline miami are 2 of the games that Travis will visit.
This means that we'll soon see the characters and environiments of Hotline Miami and Shovel Knight reimagined in 3d, which sounds pretty cool in my opinion.
Fire Emblem, No More Heroes and SMT. 2018 may be the year that will justify my entire life. hahahaahaha
Now seriously, if you put Metroid Prime 4 and Pokémon together, Switch will be on my top 3 consoles all time. Along with PS2 and 3DS (taking the third spot from SNES).
OMGS the power glove shout out! Hee hee hee! Love NMH.
Nmh was one of my 2 favorite games that gen. After playing god of war 3, and nmh1/2, I hated most other button mashers. I'm not even an anime fan. Nmh1 was almost a really good game, but then nmh2 fixed every complaint about the 1st. In going to have to replay them both since the hype is driving me crazy.
And the only other button masher I've really enjoyed is Bayonetta. Please let there be a 3rd coming to switch as well...
