@tamantayoshi Right on, neither are even slightly funny and only serve to toy with the biggest fans of Chibi and FP. I at least expect something concrete on the horizon if these are the kind of teases being otherwise mindlessly flaunted.
@KIRO Actually, a DS stylus won't work. All previous Nintendo touchscreens before Switch have been resistive and anything will work on those screens. A capacitive screen such as the Switch's requires a specialized stylus; however, it is not hard to find one for relatively cheap if you look around.
@gcunit I have several that work fine, you need one made for a capacitive screen. But resistive touch screens are generally more precise for drawing with a stylus.
@kevin74 If you must judge the game entirely through vicarious videos, at least watch some Rumble and Dropshot before you call it boring. They are like party modes with more dynamism, very fun even if the sports angle isn't your thing.
For reference, Rumble is 3v3 with items/weapons/power ups. Dropshot is basically RL's variant of Breakout, maybe even my favorite mode.
Now can more people play Dropshot, Hoops, Rumble, and Snow Day? I mostly play these on Switch and it's sad how empty they are compared to the basic modes.
Also, if you never skip replays then I can never be your friend.
One of my favorite 2D fighters ever, probably neck and neck with Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. I think it may be the best on Neo Geo, at least. Partly because newbies can grasp it quickly and have fun in multi, which doesn't happen with most NG fighters.
Rocket League over Sonic Mania by a country mile! I understand we were waiting a longtime for a proper S&K followup, but let's not be ridiculous.
Staff looking silly for excluding Xenoblade 2... Mario & Rabbids is not the better game and again I don't think it's that close. Overall I like the Reader lists better, too.
@Kalmaro I'd say Ever Oasis sinks it's teeth in further along, as you progress. The start is somewhat slow, but once you have momentum it really shines and all your endeavoring bears fruit. In fact, that sense of momentum is one of the great traits of EO.
The table designs are so bad though, very gimmicky, unintuitive, and pedestrian . I love pinball to death, but not really a fan of this cheesy knockoff.
What an incredible game. No doubt one of my favorite RPGs. First time one has grabbed me so deeply since something like Suikoden II or FFIX or Xenogears or Saga Frontier 2 or Vagrant Story, even. Captures the grandiose sense of adventure and intrigue which that era did best.
Yeah, these are not streamed, but actual native ports. In all likelihood done by Nvidia similar to the ports of MGS2, Rising, Doom 3, etc. to the Shield platform.
Now it would be somewhat foolish to throw away all this work when/if Nintendo decides to release Wii games on Switch. Anyway, whoever is responsible for these Shield TV ports has already done the legwork considering platform similarities. Though the different API and OS means cannot simply run on Switch hardware without significant effort, of course.
I certainly won't complain if the Switch renders Wii VC in 1080p...
Hands down my favorite Neo Geo fighter and one of the finest ever made. It has plenty of depth, but also a simplicity that makes it much easier for newcomers to pick up and succeed than other NG fighters. It's near perfect.
My son has been hyped for this since announcement, I really hope it comes through for us... We're the type of family that always enjoy erecting a good toothpick bridge and stressing it.
Looks pretty uninspired. Don't think 2.5D fits Mega very well either. Personally I've had enough 2D Mega Man, unless they can really knock it out. I want more Legends.
My son and I are pretty hyped for this, wish Nintendo would push this game more and communicate the future support better. Like throw in a tease or two for future characters or stages when you release a new one or use an event like this to drop some hints. They need to get people talking again.
If you pause it at just the right frame it appears this new fighter has a Biff-like mask over a larger, jagged one.
@MartyFlanMJFan ARMs is such a great game to play with kids, I play through the Grand Prix at least once a week co-op with my son. Make sure to give the motion controls a fair shake, the physical activity and dexterity is also a huge benefit. I love watching my kids flinging their arms about frantically and leaning until they almost fall over.
@bimmy-lee OK, I get it now. I actually didn't mean to judge anyone either other than that I don't see the value of this case except that it is quality leather and potentially fashionable.
I only intended hipster as someone who wanted to be more fashionable than your typical gamer carrying around a Switch and is willing to pay accordingly. I used wannabe because I don't personally find this case very appealing or stylish myself. It wasn't meant to be a harsh indictment of anyone who buys it, but I also waded into the murky waters of slang terminology, so that's what I get.
That said, while I understand there is a relatively recent negative connotation with the term hipster, I want to make clear that the term itself is at worst neutral, even originally intended to be positive. Maybe similar to maybe how the word gimmick is perceived on gaming forums.
Unnecessary and unintetesting word history incoming... Best avert now.
Hipster is defined by someone who is trendy and fashionable, or intends to be. I believe modern parlance has evolved to reflect particularly trends somewhat outside popular culture.
The original slang of hip I believe referred to someone who is so aware and so cool they cannot be identified by past or widely accepted trends. Or that's how I understand it. Hipster and hepcat evolved from that. (Hep is the alternative phrasing of hip, I suppose because it was popularized more by African American jazz culture.)
Now, looking it up I do see that the most recent slang for hipster tends to refer to generally young adults living bohemian lifestyles in wealthy suburbs. Not sure if it was intended negatively or not, but I suppose mainstream culture does not look favorably on these types. Still, I do not see it as a strictly nor implicitly negative expression in this sense either.
*Full disclosure: I currently live in a wealthy suburb with shoulder-length hair in a ponytail with a fairly unkept beard. I am near poverty level and live a sort of bohemian lifestyle. I was also an English major dropout after 7 years. Also sick and bored today, sorry.
@bimmy-lee And? That statement make perfect sense with what comes before. There are plenty of bags out there not specifically made to hold a Switch that will work as good or better. There are loads of cheap, perfectional functional Switch-specific cases readily available as well.
Therefore, unless you really value the look and hand-crafted appeal of this particular case... It's potentially (probably) a wasteful purchase since it does nothing you can't get for far cheaper. The idea is to do your due diligence to find what case works best for you, whether cheap or expensive or whatever. You know, a bit of advice that helped me find the my best solution.
We are talking about a case that is about 4x more exensive than most alternatives. Why focus on the last sentence of my post with no other consideration? What's the point?
Obviously I care about gamers getting the most out of their consoles. For most of us a significant part of that is saving money, right?
Or I guess we're all better off if I shut my mouth and let people do what they do? I just don't get the point you are trying to get across.
@Indielink All handmade really means when it comes to sewing and textiles is more expensive labor. Quality is not any more ensured and machines are really, really good at sewing.
@bimmy-lee You seem pleasant. I offered my solution when looking for a stylish, functional, and versatile Switch case. Feel free to choose whatever option or case you wish. Assuming you see merit in having extra cash for games and controllers, as I do, then what is wrong with my suggestion? Where did I say I care about money?
Sure, I personally care about more games and controllers because I play a lot of games and wear out a lot of controllers. That is what my Switch is for.
@JRJalapeno Well, how am I hating again? Hipster is a not pejorative term. If you want to look swag carrying a Switch, I have no problem. I was just saying if you don't value the stylish aspect then It seems like that money would be better spent on games or controllers. Quality is great, but unless you want the case to last a lifetime it's completely subjective.
Price is insane! Found a clearance premium travel bag with loads of storage space and pockets for like $15. I use either a Hori Hybrid Cover or a tablet zipper sleeve for extra protection. Holds several sets of joycons or a pro, two switches, stands, and a full load of games. Has optional shoulder straps, waterproof pouch, padded backing... Basically everything I could want.
Can't imagine a better setup, look around and you can find a slick custom case with more storage and versatility than the Switch-specific cases, and for possibly cheaper.
Otherwise, I would use a cheap official case and buy a game or extra controller, if nothing else. I see no reason to waste your money on this Waterfield nonsense unless you are a wannabe hipster.
I feel The Count Lucanor deserves a mention. In fact I think it may be the most successful creepy horror game of the bunch.
I'm kind of offended that Axiom Verge and Shovel Knight got nods instead, I don't see how anyone could be satisfied playing those for spooky considerations. I would rather even play something like Butcher on Halloween night, myself.
Brilliant little horror adventure. Perfect recommendation for a spooky, Halloween night play through. Only real negative to me is the slow movement. Otherwise the brevity is a positive, though I understand why others may see it differently.
The original was a lot of fun on Wii, but that was in part because they nailed the motion aiming... Without that, I think I'd rather just go back to my Wii version. A shame, would have been an instant purchase otherwise.
@Ralek85 That's nothing new, just a slightly more nuanced (actually not really) take on the FPS I have been playing since Quake Fortress, etc.
(For what it's worth, I clanned for over ten years in games like Team Fortress Classic, Tribes, and many others. I know how classes work and how they effect teamplay.)
@Ralek85 I don't want to talk about Overwatch, there is no point. You appear obsessed. (This is a news post about a menial Splatoon 2 update.)
As for Splatoon, I don't know how you came to that conclusion. Splatoon is not just about shooting or offense at all. There are endless tactical possibilities to help the team without hardly getting splats. There are numerous abilities that are helpful and perfectly viable in defensive or support strategies. There are entire weapons and kits geared around defensive and support strategies. It's up to the player to decide what that is and how it works.
I sometimes play a Goo Tuber user that is all mobility. I rarely try to snipe (using my range as mostly a defensive fallback), I instead play possum and act as a distraction. Sometimes I stack mobility gear and prance around like a fairy, dodging shots and ferreting out the enemy. Other times I stack Quick Respawn, Special Saver, Special Power up, and Quick Super Jump to stomp the objective with my Splashdown when we need a push (Splashdown out of a super jump, that is.)
This is all support and it is surprisingly effective. Splatoon has endless opportunities for teamplay strategies like that, it just requires creativity and skill. The brilliance is that it isn't spelled out for you and not limited by rigid parameters.
@Ralek85 Dude, we don't need to talk about Overwatch. You like it, fine, but this is about Splatoon 2 and you are accompishing nothing. Are you in the throes of an OW withdrawal or something?
And let's just say I couldn't disagree more about the moment-to-moment gameplay...
@Ralek85 I mean, in Splatoon you make your class. You define your role, what you want to be, set your playstyle and discover how to make it viable in different levels of competition. To me Splatoon is much more dynamic and varied, though all playstyle share the same basic mechanic, there is endless possibility to carving out niche tactics and adapting. Makes those gameplay fundamentals paramount and supreme.
@JarJarBlacks It's still fine, the side sloshes were far too wide considering they splatted in two shots. I think if you used it a lot you probably knew the Tri-slosher was silly. I am so done if NOA thinks they can use Chibi Robo for some sick meme without a legit new game in the pipeline...

Goo Tuber was broken, so annoyed at unintentionally holding a charge all the time, preventing from recovering ink. Glad they fixed it fast.
