The Sloshing Machine was one of the more fiendish weapons in the original Splatoon for Wii U. Now according to the Japanese Splatoon Twitter account it will be making it's triumphant return in Splatoon 2 tonight.
Let's take a closer look at this bad boy:
The Sloshing Machine comes with the Autobomb sub-weapon and the Sting Ray special weapon and will be available from 10pm EST tonight. That's 3am in the UK and 4am in various parts of Europe. We'll just give it a try on Saturday morning!
Don't forget the new Manta Maria stage joins the stage roster this Saturday too.

Tri slosher still better XD
''Don't the new Manta Maria stage joins the stage roster this Saturday too.''
I think someone forgot a word.
Anyway, I think the Sting Ray is a slightly odd choice for this weapon.
Splatoon
2Wii U 1.5.Too bad it got arguably the worst special in the game.
The sting ray special is lame imo. Guess I'll stick with the tri-slosher when I choose to slosh it up.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Omg! A sequel to a game is also including previous weapons from the first one! How shameful!
@Yasaal Yes well, sometimes we should branch out.
Ugh - Sting Ray. I find it very difficult to aim with the Sting Ray.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Was that necessary?
@Yasaal Thankfully. The Tri-Slosher is already too good as is.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE let the salt flow through you.
Stingray!? No way am I gonna try out this piece of garbage! My buckie boo, the Tri-Slosher is all I need. Gonna check out Manta Maria first thing in the morning, though.
I wanted to write 'yay' but then I saw the sub and special. Ugh.
The sub is legit. Autobomb spam is annoying as heck and on its own is probably the best sub at actually pressuring the enemy.
Is sting ray Splatoon 2 only? It wasn't in the first?
I just inked myself...
Wow...
@silentium All specials were replaced with new ones from Splatoon 1 to Splatoon 2. None of the old ones returned, they're all new ones with the Stingray arguably being the worst of the bunch.
Sting Ray is ace in Tower Control, free tower sweep.
Anyway, I've always been annoyed that the Sloshing Machine isn't automatic... It just seem obvious (machine) and a practical way to differentiate from the other Sloshers. I know it has different properties, but it's not really enough to carve out a clear niche. It still requires two hits to splat, even with direct hits (makes the Tri-sloshers' side shots doing the same seem crazy... Tri-sloshers should be a three hit splat, no doubt.)
@ACK That probably wouldn't change it having the slowest fire rate of all sloshers. For those not in the know, this is essentially a slosher/blaster hybrid, capable of not only lobbing shots over cover but around it as well. In fact the whole kit seems designed to flush enemies out of it one way or another.
@meleebrawler I agree, but why do they have to jam the button for such a relatively slow rate of fire? Like you say it's a mix of Sloshers and Blasters, but as a Blaster main I don't feel that, it's really just a slightly different Slosher. Seems unnecessary to force S Machine users to jam away when they are locked into a rate similar to a Rapid Blaster...
EDIT: I mean it would be a quality of life improvement more than anything, but I don't see why not. We should think of the controllers...!
@ACK Swinging isn't an automatic action like holding a trigger. Besides, it's not really jamming if the fire rate isn't that fast. More like rythmic presses.
@meleebrawler That's kind of my point... It's a machine, why doesn't it just launch the shots without swinging. It's not a bucket... I see no reason why not make it automatic.
If I remember correctly it has a speed debuff more in line with the blaster line as well, which just makes it a weird decision all around to me.
Nice to see the Sloshing Machine return, but I'm not a fan of the Stingray at all. I'll keep using my main, the regular Slosher.
I hate the sting ray special but I do love those lil walker bombs!
@ACK Washing machines, at least functional ones slosh water inside of themselves, they don't forcefully launch it out. Leaving it open would only spill a little water in front of it. Thus why the Inkling still has to swing it, with the mechanism serving to add the special swirl to shots.
@meleebrawler Yes, well in that case I expect the inklings who use the Sloshing Machine to be ripped rather than the noodle arms they have now.
No seriously, why does the function of a washing machine matter? The idea is a quality of life thing, you haven't really given a reason not to do it. The Sloshing Machine has enough drawbacks against the Slosher line, why not let them hold the trigger rather than jam it?
With the other Sloshers and their higher rate of fire and overall strength it makes sense, with the Sloshing Machine it just doesn't feel right, besides the weapon already demanding greater aiming skill and few other benefits (effectively only slightly better range).
I am sooo happy to have this weapon at my disposal once again! I've really missed it! This was my main in Ranked Mode in the first game and I've been all over it since it's release tonight!
Like most of you, I'm not too thrilled with Sting Ray as it's special, but it hasn't hindered me at all tonight. Having Auto Bomb as it's Sub more than compensates for it.
Wreaking havoc with this thing again is simply AWESOME! Thank you Nintendo!!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Good sir, what's a Wii U?
Tri-Slosher 4 Life!
So, they clearly increased both the movement speed and rate of fire, making the Sloshing Machine feel quite a bit better than before. Honestly, a part of me is more salty that the Blasters alone still have to deal with the horrible speed debuff... Along with some of the highest ink consumption in the game, mediocre range, poor coverage, and some of the slowest ink recovery due to the nasty ink recovery debuff.
@ACK Blasters are still pretty good from what I can gather. In terms of high level play so far, I've seen them used quite frequently.
