Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Super Mario Bros. Wonder?

3Daniel

I went with an 8. While its a great game a few nagging issues keep me from loving it. I wish on co-op you could individually choose badges. We tend to argue which badge to equip as I prefer the vertical wall jump to the parachute cap. Also, the lack of zooming out that was prevalent in NSMBU makes navigating when you dont have the crown a total chore. Constantly getting bubbled and having to catch up.

Re: Talking Point: Does Nintendo Have A Refund Problem?

3Daniel

I forget what it was called but the game was marketed as a zombies ate my neighbor meets roguelite. Was way pricier than it looked it should be. But I day oned it anyway after watching the eshop videos seeing the little sprite players shooting hordes of zombies. I was shocked when I booted it up and it had this bizarre control scheme that had it play more like an rts/management sim and I immediately deleted it. Would have loved to have my money back.

Sticker Star gets sooo much hate but I really enjoyed the sticker collecting aspect. It had some neat ideas that it never lived up to. Same goes for most entries. Its a shame the developers feel the need to change the mechanics with each entry because no game has perfected their particular battle mechanics. TTYD came close, but even it could use some polish and depth.

Re: Untitled Goose Game Is A Huge Success, Team Says It Can 'Keep Making Games As Long As It Likes'

3Daniel

the content is there in the game but I was surprised to find they aren't in the missions. for example, i had put aside the "mission list" and was goofing around when I found a penny or some coin while about and remembered the well. i tried figuring out how to get the penny in the well when i remembered i could slide up the cooler the grounds keeper had so i dragged the cooler to the well, waddled up it and dropped the penny in and i was astonished that the to-do list didn't pop up and cross off "make a wish at the well" or some other headline. the penny ends up in the river for anyone wondering. there's an incredible amount to detail in the game despite its visuals. I hope everyone gives it a try at some point when the price reaches what it needs to be for you to give it a go.

Re: Gallery: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Full Character Roster (Final List Updated)

3Daniel

I was sold on the roster simply when "everyone is here" was announced. The new additions are fine and the Piranha Plant reveal made me smile. The final direct was still a disappointment to me though. I honestly thought they would discuss the modes more. Spirits is a great evolution of event matches from past games and I can't wait to play that mode. World of Light seems to just be the event matches with a few cutscenes and some overworld style exploration thrown in. Still many questions surrounding it. Lots of modes were cut or hopefully just unannounced. Break the Targets? Homerun Smash? Stage Editor? Overall the game was always a day one for me. The online and no early access demo worry me. As someone who can barely connect my switch to my wifi which is a mere 1 room over despite my wii, wii u, and 3ds having no issue means I'll have to buy an extra piece of plastic or rely mainly on the single player content when friends arent over.

Re: Sakurai Is Well Aware That You Want Waluigi In Smash Bros. Ultimate, Says Reggie

3Daniel

@Smash_kirby I think it's very hard for Sakurai to appeal to both the masses and the niche fans of Nintendo's IP. Without a doubt the reason Waluigi is currently being advocated so strongly right now is because the Mario franchise has a far larger following than Golden Sun and like it or not the internet and memes are strong. Sakurai himself declared Ridley "hitting the big time." As much as I love Waluigi as a concept for the absurd I can totally see the "x character deserves a spot more" arguement.

Re: Sakurai Is Well Aware That You Want Waluigi In Smash Bros. Ultimate, Says Reggie

3Daniel

I think people gravitate towards Waluigi because he sort of fits the role Luigi once filled. A character forever in the background. His abscence in any Mario main series instantly makes him standout. Very much like Daisy his inclusion in smash would have made a small, by comparison to other characters, group of fans very happy. I for one adore Walugi and think he has great potential to be a smash fighter, but I also think his reveal in the trailer as an assist trophy once again was hysterical and totally fitting of his character.

Re: Random: Mother Orders Nintendo Switch From Amazon, Gets Box Of Washing Powder Instead

3Daniel

I preordered Odyssey and received shipping confirmation the wednesday prior to its release. The day of release came and went and I never got it. I contacted Amazon and was told the supplier was out of stock and they had already shipped that day from another distributor. I asked why I was sent a shipping confirmation 2 days prior if the item was never shipped, I would have cancelled this new shipping order had I'd been contacted. Amazon was kind enough to refund my money, extend my prime membership, and since the order was already shipped allowed me to keep the order when it arrived. So I got 2 Odysseys for the price of one.

Re: Talking Point: The Case for Super Mario Odyssey as the Greatest Mario Game

3Daniel

My only complaints about the game are the Cloud and Ruined Kingdoms. I saved going back to them for last, thinking their short introductions were teasing something grand and when I finally set to explore them I was beyond disappointed. And the game was seriously lacking the Ghost house environment. When I first came upon the 64 fountain courtyard I immediately hyped myself up thinking they redid the 64 Ghost House and was sad to see it wasn't there. I love the game though. Currently only have 3 proper moons left to gather but not sure I'll attempt them as the Bounding Bowl races aren't in my skillset -_-

Re: YouTuber Gets Banned From Site For Streaming Super Mario Odyssey

3Daniel

I unfortunately had the end boss and a few secrets spoiled for me while on youtube, on my recommended videos was a video with the spoilers right in the thumbnail complete with title and pictures. It's a Mario game so it was nothing that would prevent me from enjoying it regardless, but it was a total "o come on dude" moment.

Re: Random: Did PlatinumGames Just Tease Bayonetta For Switch?

3Daniel

Platinum is trying to drum up hype. Nintendo essentially paid for B2's development, so by Platinum teasing and liking Switch comments they can show Nintendo it may be time to open their wallets again and fund this new entry. I doubt the game is in anything other than preproduction. And Nintendo has money to spare so hopefully they take the hint and I can get my Umbra Witch fix.

Re: Review: RPG Maker Fes (3DS)

3Daniel

Event scripting can be a real pain, but part of the fun is finding a means to accomplish what I want to occur. I think mapping could have been easier with a zoom out function and maybe a paint tile option.

On a side note, are user created games rated by any means? I'm not crafting anything graphic, but I have a seriously inappropriate style of humor and I'm nervous some 7 year old will play it off of Fes Player and their parent will be up in arms...

Re: Talking Point: The DLC Expansion Pass for Zelda: Breath of the Wild is Both Surprising and Inevitable

3Daniel

Nintendo has mainly done dlc right. I don't think the main adventure was compromised in anyway to suit dlc as a cash grab. Essentially, I see the initial bonus content and the 1st dlc pack as freebies in a preorder sense for the 2nd dlc pack. New story content would be interesting, especially if it plays out the quest from say Zelda's point of view. I would have loved to experienced Skyward Sword from Zelda and Impa's side.

Re: Princess Zelda is "Very Complex and Multi-Faceted" in Breath of the Wild, Aonuma Explains

3Daniel

I don't think a female Link would work. Many of the games feature a "read between the lines" style romance with Link and Zelda. They are 2 beings destined to meet and overcome evil and I don't think Nintendo would follow through with some of those details if it were 2 female characters. Personally, it wouldn't bother me, but there are many people it would. Nor would I like to see them gender swap both characters just to keep those moments in. So we would have to revert Link and Zelda to their basic motivations just to cut on developement and remove any semblance of depth to them in the process. I really liked the way Zelda was portrayed in Skyward Sword and OoT with having her own journey and perhaps that would be the better route to go one day, by allowing us to experience her adventure in addition to Link's. It would be a nice way to add some simple DLC, if not included day one, by reusing the game assetts with a character that doesn't possess the same abilities.

The Zelda series has always had strong female characters and both stereotypically weak female and male characters.

Tho, what I would love most would be to have a Ganondorf starring game where we get to uncover his rise from a thief in the desert to the reborn Demise.

Re: Final Starter Evolutions, Gen I Treats and Region Guardians Unveiled for Pokémon Sun and Moon

3Daniel

My hype dropped a tad with the demo. I find some of the choices a little too archaic. The games look better than ever, but too many text prompts. "I sense a pokemon nearby" for the trial in the demo kind of defeated the purpous. I'm not entirely sure how to articulate my issues on the matter, but its like the old text based adventure games only with pretty visuals. Maybe I just need some more playtime outside of battles or if anyone else has the same complaints they could help me out here.

Tho, I am intrigued with the final starter typings. The only surprising one for me was rowlet's final being grass ghost. Didn't see that one coming at all.

Re: Random: Paper Mario: Color Splash Has an Iffy Issue in its Battle System

3Daniel

I'm pretty early on in the game, only 2 big paint stars, but I wish they had incorporated the "stylish" executions in battles. I don't mind the endless toads, tho wish they wore more appropriate attire. Where's the turban toads!?! Why is an archeologist simply dressed in such pedestrian clothing? I do like the card based battle system, but it could have been taken even further. I wish they kept the "things" out, however as they make the boss battles annoyingly bland. The world map was one of my favorite aspects of Sticker Star as I can never remember where those world pipes were in PMTYD, but in Color Splash you're constantly back tracking to levels for mere seconds just to progress to new areas. You need a toad? Go to this awesome looking fire stage, walk 2 screens, talk to toad and unlock access to a different stage. The game is fun and I'm enjoying it but it's a 2 steps forward, 1 step back sequal to Sticker Star.

Re: Turns Out Nintendo Came Up With Metroid Prime's Most Compelling Feature

3Daniel

@Indielink when Adam's son(I'm playing thru Other M again this weekend but Im pretty sure it was his son) died on the test ship explosion and Adam wouldn't let Samus go save him resulting in why she left the Federation. Its only ever been speculated that he survived the explosion and became Sylux. There's ZERO factual evidence to link the 2, but it would fit with Sylux's motives and his use of Federation beta suits. Maybe he was teleported out of there by Space Pirates or some other alien race and heck they could throw in some brainwashing and mind control for good measure.

And as Other M and Fusion have shown, the Federation isn't a squeaky clean organization. Maybe they interviened and kept Adam's Son for their own purpouses and that could further Sylux's hatred of the Federation.

A quick google search and it was Adam's brother not his son.

Re: Turns Out Nintendo Came Up With Metroid Prime's Most Compelling Feature

3Daniel

@Adhrast I loved Other M, I think the story could have been developed a little more. Was Adam's son really killed or did he become Sylux? Why did they build up the "Deleter" only to fizzle out that subplot? Why didn't we get to explore the sector with the Metroids? It seemed many parts of the plot were teased to be big but then dropped all together. I thought they handle the father daughter relationship between Adam and Samus better than most people give credit, but it really was shoehorned in to make for a change in "Samus is attacked and loses all her powers at the start" scenario. In short, the plot was far too complex than the game followed through with. But a sequal to it and fusion could rectify it. Giving us even more of a backstory between Adam and Samus' relationship.

Re: Super Mario Maker Is Coming To 3DS

3Daniel

I would have preferred a simple showcase eshop title that gave you the option to play the wii u created stages on the go for a cheaper price. Like a reverse Wario Ware DIY.

Re: Samus is the Latest Hero to Get a My Nintendo 3DS HOME Theme

3Daniel

Some discounts for games I don't already own would be nice. Especially since I buy my games digitally the service should be able to "see" I don't need 15% off Kid Icarus Uprising. Or Mario Party Island Tour. Or a free download for Wario Land 3. I would buy Triforce Heroes at a discount since I want to play it through solo and the full retail price isn't worth the price of admission solo from what I hear.

Re: Review: Zero Time Dilemma (3DS)

3Daniel

I would like to know if your forced to replay earlier chapters like in VLR. I played a little of 999 before losing it to a flooding incident so I picked up VLR and was hooked until I reached a certain chapter that forced me back to an earlier chapter to play through again and it took me out of the game completely and I haven't gone back to it since. Does this still occur in ZED?

Re: Pokémon GO Now Competing With Twitter In Terms Of Daily Active Users

3Daniel

I'm tempted to ask the crazy geese people if I can pokehunt around their lake. I know they're crazy geese people because I had to go back there to find my chihuahua and they were home in the middle of the day with suspiciously small pupils just hanging out on the porch of their McMansion in the middle of no where.

Re: Rumour: Intelligent Systems Is Working On New Paper Mario For Wii U

3Daniel

I actually like Sticker Star...

It's not as good as the 64 or GCN entries, but I had fun with it. There's some nice elements. I enjoyed the sticker based combat system, the overworld map, the graphic look was finally nailed IMO and I think it has alot of potential to be expanded on. More so than the original entries as TTYD is pretty much perfect in my book.

I think combining the sticker battle system of SS along with the partner system and story of the original 2 would be awesome.

Re: Poll: Did The Final Video Presentation for Super Smash Bros. Provide a Memorable Ending?

3Daniel

I was a tad disappointed at the Corrin reveal, but the moveset looked awesome and its a chainsaw sword! I was not expecting Bayonetta at all so it was nice to have a reveal come as a shock for once. Not to mention, Platinum and Nintendo have been pretty close as of late.

My only roster complaint would be that I was hoping for some nonhumanoid fighter to join and balance things out. I love Smash for the very reason you can have Jigglypuff on the same screen as Ike due to their contrasting designs.

Overall, I'm glad for once I stayed off the internet and didn't spoil the direct for myself.

One of the biggest issues is user feedback. SMM heavily depends on a person's desire to actually complete a stage. Many people give up after 1 gameover and don't comment on what you can improve. Unless you have a social media following. Haha
