Re: Pikmin 3 Update Adds New Stylus Control Style

FINALLY. i was so perplexed by the ability to play on the gamepad but requiring the use of a wiimote and nunchuck to do so or the wonky control stick scheme this makes me BEYOND happy and now i have a reason to replay it!

Re: Digital Foundry Pins Down Mario Kart 8's Resolution and Framerate

3Daniel

i tried the demo at gamestop and the game was weird. it reminded me of super circuit in terms of the characters placement on the screen. the way the camera placement was was a little off putting. i also didnt care for the way the gamepad felt while playing but it was locked in a horizontal position where i tend to play games with the controller in a vertical position. i think im going to hav to pick up a wii u pro for this since smash is out in winter.

Re: Talking Point: For Better Or For Worse, The Wii U GamePad Is Here To Stay

3Daniel

nintendo is far too mixed in their way of presenting the gamepad. i for one love it and the myriad controllers. sometimes i like to play soley on the gamepad, even in wii mode, and i love being able to switch over to a wiimote/nunchuck or pro/pro u when needed. my biggest complaint is nintendo seems to be oblivious to the obvious. why not 5 player mario kart with the gamepad serving as a screen or even 1 player using full tv and 1 on gamepad? if the system itself isnt capable of this then the system wasnt thought out fully from the get go and nintendo jumped the shark. theres potential in the pad and i have yet to witness a better use of it then zombi u which launched 2 years ago!

Re: Western Markets Vital For Nintendo Hardware Sales as Japan Gains Ground

3Daniel

they simply need games. we havent heard of anything coming after mk8 for wii u other then vague 2014 placeholders. its hard to recommend the wii u when it essentially serves as a $300 emulator of overpeiced NES games. at least release a game that makes full use of the gamepad that doesnt feel like an overinflated tech demo. i love the wii u but its severely lacking in variety when it comes to software other then halfbaked ports and sporadic mario titles. unless nintendo is going to surprise us at e3 with near releases of some major titles i am expecting another drought in the summer and if that is the case it will be the nail in the coffin of my 20 year plus relationship with nintendo home consoles.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Club Nintendo Promotion Offers a Free Wii U Game

3Daniel

@NickieBoy i got in trouble with nintendo for trying to give away my pokemon y code when i upgraded to 3dsxl. being this is also a club nintendo promotion im assuming itll have similar rules in place. i already had pokemon x digital on my 3ds and when i transfered it over to the xl i didnt see the need to own y as a digital on the same machine. the person i gav it to wasnt able to download as his 3ds was tied to his own club nintendo. use caution is as my own experience with these nintendo promotions indicated to me that these free codes are not technically ours and therefore we cant giv it away.

this happened like 3 weeks ago.

Re: GameStop Plans to Close Around 120 Stores in the Coming Year

3Daniel

i actually prefer gamestop for used game purchases. unlike best buy, gamestop actually guarantees their used games. i purchased metroid other m used from best buy 2 years ago, i returned an hour after purchase because the disc didnt work which happens sometimes when they clean the disc for redistribution. not only was i met with hostility at best buy, being told i was in violation of licensing laws or some nonsense and that there was nothing they could do for me so i spoke with several managers and even best buy on social media and finally after 3 months was told i would be sent another used copy. that was 2 years ago and im still waiting. every now and then ill run into the district manager at wawa and he never makes eye contact with me. i dont consider myself the greatest best buy customer but as someone who spents thousands every year there for a almost a decade its foolish they lost a customer over a 10$ faulty used game.

where as at gamestop i can return the game within a week for store credit, easy replacement or whatever with little to no hassle.

also i love other m. dont hate. lol

Re: Tomodachi Life is Big on Character, But Modest in File Size

3Daniel

depends on what the importance of marriage is in the game. i know that sounds stupid but if it plays a large role it would cause a disconnect for myself. considering these types of games rely on the avatar being "you" i'd rather stick with animal crossing. if marriage is a minor role then i may pick this up but i'm currently playing thru several titles i missed out on last year including dream team and wonderful 101 and kirby and mario kart 8 are due soon.

Re: Review: Yoshi's New Island (3DS)

3Daniel

I find the graphicsto be breathtaking with the 3d on. While they do basically limit to forground background its definately more then 2 layers as various background elements have various depths as well. Even the smudges that filter over most of the environments and characters gives off a neat layering effect. This game is absolutely ugly everywhere else but is beautiful on the 3ds. I also love the unexpected color pallets used and the combinations of assests are visually striking. Granted the bosses are weak odd and some innapropriately shaped, big beanie! And its definately not the masterpiece the original is imo. Beware the Boo Brigade! >_<

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct Pointed to Another Wii U Retail Drought

3Daniel

While Nintendo isnt doing the Wii U any favors, theyve completely lost a customer in their next console. Drought after drought. I bought the Wii U to play games. And I use it mainly for youtube. I will no longer purchase another Nintendo console until well into its lifespan so Ill have a decent selection of titles to play. My wallet is literally begging to spend on something other then another 2dpost platformer or lego title lol

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 13th February

3Daniel

i liked it but i agree with everyone else who is wondering why we'll have ANOTHER wii u draught on our hands. i'm passing on dk. so from nov of 2013 to may of 2014 i have no new content to play on the console. aside from a gba vc release or 2 and nes remix 2. i thought they would touch on discounts or whatever they referred to for their loyal fans. as someone whos filled up their 3ds's 16gb sd card and a nice chunk of my 500gb external harddrive for wii u i was interested to know whats what. ppl may not be flocking to the wii u but i love the machine and my wallet is BEGGING to be opened!

Re: Sonic Lost World Sales Reached 640,000 in 2013

3Daniel

I love lost worlds and im a little saddened that boom wont be expanding on the tubular level design. The wii u vers was fantastic, i only played the 3ds demo and didnt care for that vers, but the story and the sinister six were lackluster. The biggest downfall with lost worlds for me were the shoehorning of the wisp power ups and some of the onrails 2d stages later in the game requiring perfect timing tho they remedied that with the 100 rings equate a 1up patch.

Re: Preview: Japanese Gamers Get Their Free Super Mario Bros. Deluxe Download

3Daniel

By far my fav vers of SMB and if it comes to US ill def get even tho i have ambassador smb for nes on my 3ds. The smaller field of view never bothered me, the ability to scroll the screen gave an adventure/slower pace to the game. And this is by far my favorite speed run version of the game if you just charge straight ahead thru all levels blindly jumping at points.

Re: Nintendo Is Sorry That The Wii U's TVii Service Hasn't Launched In The UK Yet

3Daniel

@paburrows its a much better service now as more shows are supported as opposed to the first 8 months of the wii us launch but its still not a defining feature that people should feel left out of for not having. Youd actually be better off just schedulibg with other mii users to comment on a specific miiverse post then wasting your time with this app.

Re: Nintendo Is Sorry That The Wii U's TVii Service Hasn't Launched In The UK Yet

3Daniel

Its not that great if a service actually. During the course of a program you're not given a chatroom for an overall episode. You're able to comment on chapters as an episode plays but these are very laggy and don't seem to be synched with the episode. Ive used it twice and the first time i attemptedthe episode i was watching lacked a tviitag and the app was useless. Its a great concept but its poorly executed. Im not a sports guy tho so i cant comment on that.

Re: Poll: As the PS4 Arrives, What Do You Think of the 'New Gen' Environment for Wii U?

3Daniel

Honestly i hope the wii u doesnt sell too well and more third parties abandon ship. I love when Nintendo takes the reigs entirely and fills those genres that other parties left behind. The gamecube had my second favorite software lineup, next to dreamcast, because nintendo was super experimental and delivered on the goods. If the wii u fails to sell another single console it wont be the end of nintendo so it wouldn't matter anyway.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains Why The Legend of Zelda Isn't a Yearly Franchise

3Daniel

i think the Zelda universe just needs to branch out. theres enough characters and interesting lore to support other genres. id like a sequel, at least in terms of gameplay, to adventure of link. or perhaps a turn based rpg. or a game starring and detailing ganondorfs upbringing in the gerudo desert and eventual corruption leading into OoT. Or even those DS tingle games. I thought this was going to be the case after crossbow training...
