We recently brought you our first impressions of 1-2 Switch; we thought it was a relatively fun collection of minigames that would have made a lovely pack-in game with the Nintendo Switch -- unfortunately you'll have to pick it up separately.
For anyone worried dropping £35 / $50 on this game, it seems it might be better value than originally thought. In our preview we got to try out 6 minigames, but it seems that the final game will feature at least 20 games to show off the power of the Joy-Con and keep players amused.
In a thread over on NeoGAF some users have uncovered some titles from the source code of the official website. We're particularly psyched for the Air Guitar game so we can unleash our inner rock star. The runway game sounds intriguing too, and might interest any wannabe catwalk models out there.
The final number is unclear, with some comments that it may be as much as 24. Nintendo will no doubt drop more information officially before launch.
1-2 Switch will launch with the Nintendo Switch on 3rd March. Do you plan on picking it up with your system?

Aren't they all the same anyway?
$20 would be a fair price then, yeah?
At £35 no. Not a chance. Should have been a pack in. This Switch is getting very expensive.
I changed my mind to getting it when the price dropped. £32.99 with Amazon Prime, I figure this will be the showcase I use with most friends and family. Though it occurred to me that it would be better as a download so I don't have to cart it around (pun intended), I wonder what the final eshop price will be.
I'll totally be getting it and it's totally going to be even more fun after a few beers
...everyone's played drunk Wii sports.. this will be better
I actually thought there would be more mini-games... Seeing as how they take like 30 seconds each...
Wow ...Exciting.
So about 2 currency a minigame. Not convinced.
Should have come with the console, sorry nintendo but BIG fail there.
50 euros for 20 minigames, hummm no it does not seem fair at all. How many games does Wario Ware for Wii have?
I may pick it seems fun but way over priced and most definitely should have been bundle in with the system.
Air guitar. Wow.
It's looking better value than initially thought. I need to see more of what it has to offer before taking the plunge on this.
Hard no
Bumpies party still seems much better value. This should be a cheap eShop title at most or even better a pack in title.
I'm doubt it'll sell in an amounts of Wii Sports (even Resort) or Nintendo Land. Too pricey while so basic in terms of a gameplay.
Yeah, just checked. Bumpies Party is $11.99 for 23 minigames for 2-8 players. This should be the price Nintendo should be aiming for (as an eShop title).
Wasn't planning on getting it to start. But with a decent amount of mini games I may get it sooner than later. Rather get Has Been Heroes first. Just wish they would announce the march release date.
I'm still baffled why they didn't do a full Wii Sports package, flesh it out a bit more to make it enticing. Would be the perfect release companion for 1,2 Switch!
This game will be a collectors item soon since it won't sell that well.
How about "no"? The "games" literally in some cases last 0.5 seconds. Most last a couple of seconds.
Why on earth would I pay £35/40 for a game collection which in total lasts less than 5 minutes?
Regardless of the number of mini-games, it's still an overpriced tech demo.
I would've preferred Switch Sports, but guess Nintendo want to distance themselves from the Wii brand (despite the Joy Cons being a pair of advanced Wii Remote Pluses & Nunchucks with extra features).
After seeing dozens of launch systems and software over the decades, one thing that really annoys me is how many games seem to be designed to show the features or power or whatever of a new system. In doing so, they often lose sight of the fun aspect and many of these games are crap and end up in the bargain bin. Why not focus instead on making games that are simply fun to play?! Gee, what a novel concept, eh?
@alasdair91 You don't have to comment on a website to tell people you're not buying it, just don't buy it. Nintendo aren't keeping a list of gamers and writing YES or NO next to it. Besides we haven't seen enough gameplay videos to comment that some games last seconds, you simply don't know that.
A dull tech demo for the price of ~3 proper fully fleshed indie games. Yeah, right...
@Raptor78 I have Bumpies Party, some of the games are great fun, and I love booting it up when my nephews are round, but let's be honest this is gonna be infinitely better and more fun.
Hmm I don't have anyone around who's interested in the Switch anyway so I probably would be playing alone like I always do on my 3DS. Too bad the place where I live has such a tiny Nintendo fanbase. Until the price significantly drops, I'm not getting it. It should have been included as a bundle or should have been much cheaper. More mini games don't justify the price. There is lot of titles that have much more mini games and cost much less. To me it sounds like a cash grab, even if the title looks really good and sounds fun (when I was telling about it to my sister and her boyfriend who prefer PS4 games, they really liked the idea and thought it was fun - but if I told them how much Nintendo wants for it they would definitely say no).
@PorllM Everyone is entitled to their opinion + this is a comment section and sort of works like a discussion too. Yes I agree if you are not going to buy it anyway, you don't have to comment (on the article). The same with watching videos - you don't like it then don't watch. BUT in this case I have to agree with @alasdair91, the price is too much for what they offer.
@cheonsacz I actually agree with the price being too high too. It should be a budget download or a pack in with the console. But it seemed like his whole comment was the based on the idea games only last a few seconds which 1: nobody knows that at this point as they haven't announced or shown anything about that and 2: wario ware and NES remix have proved even if that is the case, if the games come quick and fast it still plays like a lot of content and could be incredibly fun.
I apologise if I misread the tone which is fully possibly but the comment sounded a bit like looking at something and going "NAH" without attempting to learn about it. Which is completely fine but why frame it as fact and post comments online as if you're trying to convince other people of the lack of value.
That is big no for me. Maybe later. i hope it sells well in Japan.
Hm... I want to know the list of 20 minigames that we can play on 1 2 Switch.
20 mini games, that's alot. I'm sure I can find a handful of good ones in there.
Game & Wario had a few good ones, few bad ones. And usually the ones you think will suck end up fun, and the ones you think will be fun end up sucking.
Well... 24 sure is better than 6, but some of them had better have a bit more depth to them. This is definitely a 'wait and see' to find out more and see how long before it will drop to sub-£15.
That's better than the six they showcased at the Premiere event but none of those games had any particular depth to them so I'm still convinced. I'll need to see what these games are.
Should have been a bundled game.
This should have been packed in like Wii Sports on the Wii.
Personally I have absolutely zero interest in this based on the treehouse demo. Even if the game was free with the Switch.
My wife, relatives and friends probably won't be either or be bored of it in seconds.
I hope they release a Sports Resort 3, tho.
I'll be getting this now the price had dropped a bit and it'll be great fun. Tbh you could tell there were more than 6 minigames from the trailer so I don't think digging into source code was particularly necessary
@Dangerous25 Oh I don't doubt that this would be better because it would have that bit of Nintendo magic about it. I just don't think it is a full price retail game. If it was a really cheap retail title or even cheaper eshop title people would buy it out of curiosity. Full price I think it would be a tough sell.
$50 for 20 minigames in 1 2 Switch
or
$60 for 30 NES games on Mini
@PorllM Well true. But just the whole idea (which is definitely interesting and fun and does not require real guns lol) seems like it won't last very long. Of course that's how mini games work (at least that's what I think). They are intended to be short and fun and I loved Nes Remix. But the price still bothers me. Not that I'm some kind of scrooge who is stingy with money, but I'm average person who is in disability pension (that's not excuse even if it may sounds so, just pointing out I really need to think about everything twice before I invest into it) so I can't afford to spend thoughtlessly on everything I like. And so far all the games for Switch cost double the average price of games on other consoles and handhelds. All the games I saw in my local store on pre-order are between $40-70 which honestly is too much. For example if I was going to buy 4 games I'm interested in (the only ones available for pre-order in the local store) for the price they are on pre-oder I would have to pay cca $270 which is almost the price of the Switch. Not to mention I just checked the local store and they raised the price from cca $315 to $350. I can only hope the price of the games and Switch will still drop. But my point is that cca $570 is more than half of average monthly payment in my country and I guess most people have average job with average monthly payment so they also can't afford to buy everything at once. And if they can they have my envy XD
@Hotfusion
I really liked Wii Sports Resort, I can't understand why they went backwards with the Wii U sports entry. I'd love to see a proper follow up to Resort
I appreciate what nintendo is trying to do with this game, but 5 or 50 mini games, I still feel it's way over priced. I don't even consider this a video game. From what I've seen, it's more like those board games with a DVD or video component, like Scene It Trivia. There's no actual video game play.
I don't know, it will definitely appeal to some and that's cool. I just think for what it is, it's way over priced
1, 2, Switch is a cool idea that will get old VERY quickly, especially when it is only 2-players. Not worth $50.
@SanderEvers Are you really going to just play each game once? Don't get an FPS or racing game, they often have less levels. And Wii Sports had only a handful of sports.
1 2 rubbish
Yay???? Still not buying this game.
The hating on 1, 2, Switch in the comment sections on this site is getting old.
I really hope this game bombs i wouldn't pay 10 dollars Canadian for this. Nintendo wasting precious development resources . this game
@alasdair91 Because maybe, just maybe, and I know this is going to sound crazy, you're supposed to replay each game? Nintendo coded the game so the cartridge DOESN'T self destruct after playing through each game once.
@Ninja44X what a sick burn. How long did it take you to think of that?
I think a port of Wii Sports would be more welcoming than this tripe.
@cheonsacz you're really right but in all honesty I haven't bought a game or system on day 1 in years. Full price for 1 2 switch is basically paying a premium to have it before most people. That's the only advice I can give, if it's too much for you then wait and see. I bought the order 1886 for £8 the other day, as an example. It was £49.99 at launch and arguably has less content than a mini game collection
@Nik-Davies From some of the comments I read before, it sounded like there would only be 6 games. I guess some were judging from the demo.
I really liked the game no matter what others said about it. It shows the new features of Switch and the joy cons. Yet, I'll just stick to Zelda and Street Fighter first and then wait for a decent discount. Too bad though, it would be a great pack-in game and would help increase the sales as well!
I'll be skipping this game,it's not for me.
Playing an air guitar... More like playing "the air flute", if the other mini games keep with the real theme of this "game"... 😱
@Christmas Nintendo forgot how to make Pilotwings and Wave Race.
@Equinox Maybe it's aimed at people who like weird tech demos?
@PlywoodStick Or Donkey Kong Racing
@Pod https://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=Bxauqa7rJgI
Sucks it's not a pack-in but I preordered it anyway. My company is paying so I don't care!
Good! 6 was ridiculous!!! Now I'll keep my preorder.
@PlywoodStick
Great. Now post that as a reply for all the ranters and people acting sad about not getting something else, as if another game would magically appear if 1, 2, Switch didn't exist.
I've found some parts of it to be intriguing and thought it may be fun to play, but I don't know if I'd be willing to put $65 CAD down for it...
um, when you go by the numbers that show in the corners of the introduction videos there are at least 24 games
You persuaded me guys...Day 1 purchase !!!!!!!!
Why do people keep saying it's only 2 players? Of course it's not.
The games are super short and that's a feature when you are in a gathering trying something goofy. You see how long you can stay in with new challengers rotating in until you lose and then they stay. Everyone gets to play and laugh at each other.
I hope there's a mode that switches the games up automatically without much messing with the interface. Maybe I didn't see this, but it would naturally be 3 games and then Switch. So, the awesome quickdraw guy suddenly has to do a runway walk to keep his spot.
Amazon prime discount for preorders really does help here in the US as well. From $50 to $40 makes a decent psychological difference.
Also, after 30 years of game console launches I'm sort of used to the extra $10-$20 laid on top of launch games because early adopters are desperate for a few games. There are always old ports that should be less money, and smaller games priced up with the big boys, and games that are glorified tech demos.
It might seem a rip-off but really they are more valuable to some people at that point in time: for having a couple options when the library is tight, for having something interesting to show off. Over time that value wears away but the way games drop in value nowadays I'd think more people would be accustomed to this idea. It's just amplified during a launch.
I hope many of you get to try it without having to pay up. If it's not your thing to be in early and not valuable enough to get in on it right away, the market is built for you! Give it a year and everything will either be better or much easier to resist. Nothing wrong with that.
I'll be on board right away but the value proposition for me and my family with younger kids is a no brainer. It's a different world than many of you seem to be in. For instance, I still play Nintendo Land with my kids --and enjoy it!-- and we got it on day one of availability. Plus, my son and I are bonding over Metroid Prime Federation Force daily right now.
I honestly feel Nintendo have missed a trick by not pre installing this on every Switch.
That way, people, wherever they were, whoever they were with would be able to show the uniqueness of the JoyCons and the appeal of the Switch, essentially causing CONSTANT ADVERTISING
1-2 Switch should have came with the Switch itself, it obviously would have shown off the Joy-Cons. It's not the sort of game I would buy alone, but it would have been nice to try out when I do pick a Switch up.
This is a real con guys... I'm almost ashamed to be a Nintendo fan right now
Just remember that Wario Ware Inc. for GC was released with 213 of this kind of microgames and it's release price was less than 30$... What happened since the marvelous period of the NGC where we had a fun and powerful console with a lot of great games....
I'm leaving to cry on my own...
No, I'll drop $20 on Snipper Clips instead it looks like a lot of fun.
Breath of the Wild + Snipper Clips will be a good launch bundle for me
@ElGrego
Sadly, the beautiful boxy GCN only sold 20M
@TbobB
22M ... And the WiiU is only 13M...
Can't wait to drink and party with this game on launch day.
20 minigames is nice and all but this should really be a pack-in. Ninty's gotta learn that there's a lot to gain by giving something away for free.
@capitalism: You have brought perspective as to how this is a party game. Thank you!
Looks fun but I likely won't be buying it anytime near launch.
Everyone says no now, but I think a lot of people will end up owning this game.
@Monkeyofthefunk If 1, 2 Switch was a pack-in title Nintendo would have been forced to sell Switch at $349.99. They're not going to sell this console at a loss like the Wii U. Personally, I'm glad they aren't including it with the Switch because I'm only interested in Zelda, and that's what I'll be getting with the Switch.
Will pick it up in a few months when it halves in price.
@Sonic200012 not really. They could have included it at the same price to just, you know, help sell more units of the console.
That is making 1-2 Switch look a lot more attractive. 20 games is a lot better than 6.
@leo13 I wish I could preorder snipperclips physically on Amazon and save some money. Nintendo keeps "making" me buy physically packed and shipped products because it costs so much less. It's kinda weird because really... I'd rather just have it float in the cloud until I need it and/or instantly call it up on my device and play. Tired of collecting plastic.
@ElGrego Sometimes the numbers don't look as great when you adjust for what those $ were actually worth back then. With inflation that $30 Wario Ware game would be compared to $40 now. That's the amount I'm getting 1-2-Switch for (using Amazon Prime discount). Also, it was a port of a GBA game not a new game. Interesting that the GameCube was $272 (adjusted for inflation) and it was meant to seriously undercut the competition that was selling for about $409 adjusted. Also, Gamecube was one of the few times Nintendo sold hardware at a loss (losing money on each console sold).
@PorllM I definitely won't buy day 1. I'll pick it up (the Switch) when they'll offer a nice bundle with a game I like. I don't mind if I have to wait til next Christmas or Black Friday, because I still got lot of games on 3DS I didn't play and more still coming, like DQVIII today. I also got my N3DS last year in summer(I used to own O3DS two years before though) so I'm not the impatient type of person who needs to have every current tech. I think the first year will be mainly "cash crab" for Nintendo with the Switch and next year it will calm down a little. But if all the games I'm interested in will all be 50-70 bucks then I won't pick the Switch in the end, because that's too much.
@ElGrego
Oh Agreed! Please don't feel like you're crying on your own!
@Pod Oh, but there is another game, to act as the savior of the NS launch: Snipperclips.
@aaronsullivan I hear you. I agree it's odd that Nintendo gets more money if we buy digital yet they have the system set up to where it costs us less to buy physical. I have Best Buy's club membership so I get the same 20% off physical games. I got the Breath of the Wild Special Edition for $80
@PlywoodStick
I am actually pretty excited for that.
