@JaxonH I know his last reported twitter message to the public was that Nintendo would try and do better in the future. But yeah in a way it's sad that he had to appeal to a large group of Nintendo customers crying and whining about this E3.

@Takerkaneanite6 Well put, gamers can be very passionate about their hobby online with a fair sense of cynicism, and frankly a lot of entitlement. That said it's difficult to not be passionate about your favorite Nintendo franchises and lack of new content for some of them, or a vision different than your own. Nintendo under Iwata's leadership rarely disappointed, and like you mentioned hopefully he was able to distance himself from the negativity and have some meaningful time with his family and friends prior to his passing. At 55 he was still fairly young by today's standards. I wonder if he knew what was coming because he seemed to radiate optimism despite the low five year surviveability rate of the particular cancer found in his body. The gaming world as a whole seems a little more empty without his presence. I'm not too concerned for Nintendo's future, Nintendo has some highly skilled developers that will continue Iwata's legacy. Though they will be hard pressed to find someone as open with the public as Iwata was in his Nintendo Direct's.

@SBurness He had and was recovering but the type of cancer he had (bile duct growth) has a very low five year chance of survival. Still this doesn't make news of his passing any less surprising. He truly led a very successful era at Nintendo.

This is about as surprising news as I have ever heard. I suppose death is the heritage we all share. I am certain that Satora Iwatais in a better place though we will miss his warm personality in Nintendo Directs. His vision and inspiration have driven Nintendo to its current level of success over the past decade and Satoru Iwata-san will be missed. Thanks for all the great experiences you have given us.

Nico07 commented on Mojang is Still Open to Bringing Minecraft to ...:

I'll believe it when I see it. Still it would be a definite purchase for me on Wii U and 3DS if it happens. The use of standard controls with optional touchscreen inventory and gyroscope assisted controls (ala Splatoon) would be great. Mario or other Nintendo themed add-on worlds would be nice. Still I would assume that past Console sales would be the reason why Wii U hasn't received Minecraft.

@iflywright Absolutely, it's interesting that Pilotwings 64 never released as a VC title though on the Wii. I will still likely pick up Mario Tennis 64 at the $2 upgrade price. On the one hand it's nice that Nintendo is adding a few more surprise N64 VC titles (Ocarina of Time), but on the other there are better titles that should arrive first (F-Zero, WaveRace, Smash, Cruis'n USA, Kirby64, etc).

My local arcade/bowling alley/go cart location has two of these with one that has been down for weeks. I'll have to stop by and see if they received the update. I wonder if Nintendo reps stop by and update these or how they are updated.

The media in general had a bad reaction to Splatoon's motion controls with one article citing that disabling them fixed an otherwise broken game. When in fact those of us who actually tried out the motion controls preferred them. Can't wait to try it out Star Fox Zero myself when it launches this December.

I could see NX releasing next November, but for Nintendo not to talk in detail about it until June 2016 and then release it in July of the same year seems a little rushed. Still I'm game for whenever it releases and am excited to see what gaming experiences Nintendo has in the works.

Nico07 commented on Dark Pit amiibo Exclusive To Best Buy In North...:

@Peach64 The US is likely behind the UK in amiibo production in order to try and manufacture more for release, though it seems that this makes no difference as the resellers are the only ones lucky enough to buy them here. So as some have said, Dark Pit will likely be exclusive to eBay and Amazon marketplace in the US.

Nico07 commented on Nintendo Life Weekly: F-Zero Wii U, Octolings,...:

@Aki77 That was one of my thoughts as well. With a heated subject like SSM there were bound to be heated profane messages for and against it. I saw a few explicit ones the other night with drawings of genitals I wouldn't like to explain to my kids yet. I think Nintendo has become a little relaxed in their filtering which my son saw a few profane posts in NSMBWU. I don't remember seeing any when I played through the game at launch.

Nico07 commented on Nintendo Life Weekly: F-Zero Wii U, Octolings,...:

@Aki77 The SSM comments in Splatoon were just more annoying than necessary in my opinion. From my experience several people had written and drawn squid drawings saying that squids have same sex marriage, which seemed a bit extreme as squids don't marry. But maybe squidlings do (as they are part human apparently) but squidlings seem to have more gender issues than marriage with female characters named Luke and so on ;). Others somehow got away with drawing questionable drawings in their Miiverse posts. At least there is no in game chat I suppose. So my point is comments seemed to be in the extreme for issues outside of the game.

Nico07 commented on Splatoon Version 1.3.0 Update Due on 30th June...:

I think the Kraken was okay as it was, but I use it mainly to get past the enemies front lines and cause havok back on their turf. So being invulnerable still is how I wanted it, even if I may not be able to take out anyone now could still work.

I still want to see more local two player modes, and or the ability to have a LAN game among a few Wii U's.

Nico07 commented on Talking Point: E3 Highlighted Nintendo's Devel...:

@bluedogrulez I don't know if I fully agree with this article either, although it does bring up a few good points. Namely this E3 showed very little of the Wii U, and the early Star Fox build wasn't as polished as some would have wanted. Personally I'm looking forward to Star Fox, Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, and Zelda next year. A few things this article didn't mention were Project Guard and Project Giant Robot that will likely come to fruition but could also possibly be cancelled. Comments from developers regarding Metroid not being in any form of development (except for Prime Federation) were also disheartening as many hoped it would come to Wii U. The Wii U will be the second home console to not get a Metroid title (N64 being the first). Miyamoto I believe had also mentioned that he didn't know where to take the F-Zero series, so there are two IP's that will likely not be coming to Wii U leaving not much else aside from possibly a Mario Galaxy sequel. Some times I wish Nintendo would just release an HD remaster of a few past games like Sony and MS do to hold off big release gaps.

I do agree that it's hard to give third parties a lot of slack with their Wii U efforts that have largely been shovelware. I have several and the most noteworthy is Need for Speed Most Wanted that actually is most polished for Wii U though it lacks DLC.

Nico07 commented on Luna Blaster Weapon Arriving Tomorrow For Spla...:

@Frank-The-Tank It helps the community get used to and try out the current selection of weapons/stages/modes. Similar to other shooting games, if you release everything at once only certain stages and weapons are ever used and people won't try out what they are unfamiliar (not as good) with. If this content is given to everyone at the same time and we are only allowed to play two random stages at a time, people are moved out of their comfort zones. Also if new content is given out freely over the course of several months people will continue to play the game instead of giving up on it after a short time.

That... and the game wasn't ready yet.

@Ralizah The Wii U could use a few more as well. We got an initial few N64 and DS releases, but then nothing new on the horizon :( Still I was excited that Earthbound Beginnings finally made the list. Hopefully we get another Direct next month with a new lineup of VC titles for 3DS and Wii U.

I'd love to buy them all but Nintendo and my wallet disagree with me. Still if I were lucky enough I'd love to at least complete my Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Metroid and Zelda sets with their respective figures. Donkey Kong I suppose I will get as I pre-ordered Skylanders for Wii U this time around instead of my PS4. I have a feeling Bowser will only be available in the Wii bundle. :(

@Pandaman Thanks for giving your review of the demo. It's sad that Zero would feel this much in beta especially with the steep learning curve of the controls and the quickly approaching launch date. I'm really hoping they give dual control options at release, I mean they did it with Star Fox 64 3D anyway. And it would be great to have the option of watching the hopefully soon to be more polished graphics on screen.

Nico07 commented on First Impressions: Our Maiden Flight In Star F...:

I must have been one of the few that looked at this game and was impressed. The scene with the Landmaster rolling through the canyon was impressive. I would understand that this reviewer was playing the game which surprisingly doesn't have you looking at the television during gameplay and I understand that the 854x480 GamePad screen would have finger smudges from dozens of people, perhaps in a room with strange lighting may not be that impressive. In game on screen there are some impressive lighting and atmosphere effects not seen in previous games. Miyamoto and team will only polish the games visuals and controls further from here. I would expect that we will be given a classic control scheme option, but many like in Splatoon may opt for the GamePad control method if it offers the most precision. I'm not really that worried about this game and am actually really looking forward to it's release.

Nico07 commented on Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digi...:

In all I think the event was a little bit of a letdown from last year. Just my opinion below, but here it is anyway.

PROS:
-Muppet characters and Star Fox references were great, amazing!
-Footage of Star Fox Zero was also great and hype enducing.
-Developer interview with Shigeru Miyamoto and his inspirations for Star Fox.
-Skylanders figures for DK and Bowser that dual function as amiibo
(Hopefully Activision produces them so stock is more available).
-Love for the 3DS with some nice upcoming titles.
-Dates given for several upcoming games.
-More upcoming amiibo like pixel Mario.

CONS:
-No big announcements of new IP for Wii U. Really not much we weren't expecting.
-No word from Retro Studios or others on anything they are doing, aside from those we are already aware of (Good-Feel, Koei Tecmo/Team Ninja, etc). Sure Hyrule Warriors was leaked and that wasn't really Nintendo's fault.
-Trailers for Fire Emblem with not much that hadn't been shown already.
-Metroid Prime game shown in beta was lackluster and unfinished, very different from canon games. Little explanation in this case was a bad thing.
-More upcoming amiibo like Pixel Mario. While some may not want them, many do but it's difficult to believe stock will be more readily available on these.

Nico07 commented on Rare Replay on Xbox One Will Include 30 Games,...:

There could still be a possibility of Banjo coming to Virtual Console. I think it would just be a matter of if Nintendo would be willing to give up whatever percent of sales Microsoft asks for. Obviously the Xbox bundle is the better consumer value though as these would be $12-$15 each on Wii U. Microsoft would get paid and Wii U owners would be tempted to add an Xbox One to their collection. I really think Microsoft should allow Rare (whats left anyway) to develop a new Banjo game for the Xbox library soon though. I have a Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One so I will definitely be buying this. I did support Playtronix and will be getting Yooka Laylee on the Wii U for sure.

@AyeHaley I picked up a used Xbox One for cheap a few months back and am looking forward to this pack. For me the Wii U is my system of choice, but I have the PS4 and Xbox One for their exclusives and deals like this. But some multi platform games are best on Wii U, like Lego games play best in multiplayer on Wii U so I grab those on Wii U alone.

@HawkeyeWii I have this game and its not a 1:1 clone. Plus Minecraft isn't in development for Wii U and if it were they could make money from Nintendo owners. Its a genre that's popular right now, it was bound to happen. Well see if the other game is any better, when and if it releases.

Nico07 commented on Disney Infinity Producer Brands amiibo Stock S...:

@ancientlii I would believe it. With the stories like that of the Target manager who horded amiibo to sell online telling customers they couldn't buy them, this makes sense. I was able to grab preorders on Lucina, Robin (Reflet), and Ness from Playasia a few months back for $20 each, which is about the most I will pay for a single amiibo.

Nico07 commented on Disney Infinity Producer Brands amiibo Stock S...:

@Aurumonado That's because most people who were going to buy the Infinity figures bought them earlier on. 60% off is a decent amount, but my family bought them all months ago. Its funny though as we have Skylanders, Infinity, and Amiibo and yet the Amiibo figures probably have the least in game value compared to the other figures yet they sell out everywhere because of their limited numbers.

We're slowing down on Skylanders having only bought only about 40% of figures. We'll buy the base game this year and maybe a flying and water vehicle. Disney Infinity we'll likely buy them all. And Amiibo we can only buy what we are lucky enough to preorder or find on shelf at retail. Still it's good to know that the Star Wars and other 3.0 figures should be readily available.

Nico07 commented on Feature: Nintendo Franchises We Want to See at...:

StarFox 64 3D has been my favorite title since it released as an improvement on the original in all the right ways. The only thing I can find to complain about was the lack of the Landmaster and being outside of your ship in the multiplayer mode. I did like the addition of the camera so that you can see the face (or forehead) of the person you were battling. The new game should have at a minimum a local multiplayer mode, if not co-op. And an online mode could be impressive if they attempted it.

@Gallon23 I would love to see motion controls similar to Splatoon. Maybe I've just playing a lot of Splatoon, but the controls would work well with for navigating in Cube Life. ie left joystick movement, right joystick correcting view, gamepad motion controls for viewing.

Nico07 commented on That's No Moon, It's The Disney Infinity 3.0 S...:

@MrGawain I would agree that 2.0 was more limited in it's included playsets than 1.0 was. In the first game you had Incredibles, Pirates, and Monster's Inc each with at least three, if not more, hours of gameplay. In 2.0 you had Avengers as well as those two Toybox discs that were for a dungeon crawler and tower defense structured games. They were new and unique but didn't have as much content as a playset would. The Toybox I think is often under emphasized as there are options and objects that you can do and create virtually anything from. But as a bundle 2.0 felt a little underwhelming for what you got out of the box. 3.0 looks to be the same in likely having a single playset included but will offer many more playsets, and the Toybox should be very extensive.

Nico07 commented on Lucas DLC Confirmed for 14th June Release on S...:

@CrazyMetroid If you compare SSB characters to content in MK8, then yes they are very expensive, not to mention the DLC costume pack. But if you compare the pricing to other games DLC packages it is about equal if not better. If Nintendo were to follow Capcom's Street Fighter IV they would release DLC alternate color costumes at a few dollars each, and then just release a whole new version of the rebalanced game at $60 several times over. We get the rebalancing for free and to play as the characters is optional at $5 each. Perhaps they should have just had a season pass including four characters and maybe a few stages at a discounted price. So on the one hand I see what you're saying and it is difficult to be charged more for content in SSB than MK. But on the other hand Nintendo is testing the water with it's DLC and I though the first few options for SSB content have been pricey, they are still optional and affordable compared to other developers content. The alternative would be no additional content.

@Grumblevolcano The OK Go videos, Dinosaur Office, and the occasional extreme sports video. I remember having to watch one video before a new video would download to take it's spot. After watching a few they started repeating and I lost all desire to keep watching any all. Plus now you can watch the whole array of 3D Youtube in browser on the New 3DS XL. The only thing we would miss out on is exclusive content from Nintendo that will likely be on the eShop now.

Nico07 commented on That's No Moon, It's The Disney Infinity 3.0 S...:

@MrGawain No offense, but it's a little ignorant to call Disney Infinity a Minecraft clone. Minecraft in it's two modes is about exploring and finding items to craft with as well as it's creative mode where you are free to build without limitations. Infinity of course has it's playsets that provide between three to eight hours of gameplay (or more) and then it's Toybox mode. Like the trailers to the first game suggest you can create about any type of game genre, shooter, platformer, dungeon crawler, tower defense, etc. You can either play in worlds you create or download fan favorite creations. When you compare these to games like Call of Duty, Mario Bros, Diablo, etc, of course Infinity will come up short, but it's a more child friendly game that adults can still pick up and play. I realize it may not be for everyone and it does have it's flaws, as does Minecraft. But with the studios pitching in on this entry that do specialize in those genres, I think Infinity 3.0 has a much better chance to improve in the areas that it has struggled in.
