I could see a new Ip making use of all of the figures. Maybe call it Nintendo Quest and have yearly releases that have characters travel Nintendo franchise worlds defeating enemies. An Rpg of some type would even be great. But have every new iteration support every current figure.

@Goginho obviously its been on the backburner as he and his team worked on A Link Between Worlds and helped with Hyrule Warriors while developing the new Zelda for 2015. You also can't forget in 2012 they took six month to develop Wind Waker Hd. Who knows what other new Zelda title he may be working on for 3Ds?

Nico07 commented on Miley Cyrus Confuses Fans by Owning a Wii U:

Its kind of a catch22. If she was playing some other competing console many would say she is confused anyway and so her opinion doesn't count. But since she is playing the Wii U we'll say she must have some common sense to recognize good games. But frankly I don't really care about celebrities like her.

Has any mention been made on if any of these initial characters will be supported in more than Smash? I'd love to pick them all up but seems pretty pricey for just one game and looses what Disney Infinity and Skylanders have in new games supporting all older figures.

Nico07 commented on Nintendo 64x64: Mission: Impossible:

I remember being sorely disappointed as a kid when I bought this. According to Nintendo Power at the time the developers had intended to use the 64DD. Doing so you could take a picture of your face or a friends to use as a mask. Additional levels would also be released later to add to the game. Sadly none of this materialized and we were left with clunky controls that just made the game infuriating to play at times. The sniper levels were fun enough. Dropping down from the ceiling was also a minutes long ordeal in a room that must have been a mile high. So yes there were a few redeeming parts to this game. But from someone who actually beat the game, myself, without use of the strategy guide or internet, there just isn't enough reason for me to recommend this game or replay it myself.

@uhhhhhhhh I'm with you. Between Skylanders, Infinity, and now this... my wallet should be happier after the holidays. Although these Nintendo NFC figures are the only I plan to pickup all of.

I wish Nintendo would be more forthcoming on how these will work across games. Sure these can be training dummies or backup fighters in Smash. But what about Mario Kart and Captain Toad?

Nico07 commented on Skylanders Trap Team:

@Drawdler Also for accessories, there are (2) three packs of traps that contain: tech, magic, earth. And the other undead, fire, and air. Each goes for $14.99 at retail and bolstered with the starter pack's life and water traps you will have all current elemental traps (with exception of dark, which is included in the dark edition of the game). You can trade out trapped villians in between levels so that one trap of each will suffice. Other than that the new Trap Masters are more powerful than past Skylanders and therefor a few extra are useful for playing through the game's eighteen levels.

I would have to say this is still my all time favorite shooter game. It may be a little dated for graphics, but some things about it like non-linear levels, shooting off hats, and just plain nostalgia make this my top favorite.

@rjejr When I first saw Link in the Mario Kart 8 DLC preview pictures I thought amiibo, but then found out otherwise. If Nintendo wants to push amiibo, they should come out and explain the benefits of amiibo in other games at some point soon.

@rjejr I've preordered each from Best Buy with my 20% off Gamer's club unlocked account. Not as good as a B1G1 at 50% off each, but enough of a discount to not pass up. Also as it is a preorder if they do offer B1G1 later, I can reorder at the cheaper price. The best would be if Best Buy offered B1G1 because the 20% off stacks with other offers. Though most retailers, Best Buy included typically won't match B1G1 offers for price match.

Nico07 commented on Talking Point: Mario Kart 8's Diverse DLC Sets...:

@rushiosan Obviously my suggestion is mere speculation at this point as Nintendo has said nothing about amiibo concerning Mario Kart 8 other than it will be a supported title. It's difficult to see how adding amiibo could be unique and beneficial to the Mario Kart franchise. In Smash Brothers they will be used as co-opperative or competitive fighters with unique skill sets, but in Mario Kart? The ability to play as each amiibo would be all well and good. But what about the amiibo characters we know of such as Mario, Link, Peach, Yoshi, Isabelle, and Villager. They already, or will exist later in the game so amiibo would need to add something. The possibilities are pretty limitless as far as co-operative play, maybe a unique item or course. Perhaps even a unique battle arena. I suppose we won't know until Nintendo releases more information about the value proposition of amiibo in MK8.

Nico07 commented on Talking Point: Mario Kart 8's Diverse DLC Sets...:

I fully expect all amiibo characters to be playable characters this November. Link will simply be an included character that the amiibo version may offer some added bonus (hook shot to pull a player back). But this later part of having unique abilities for each amiibo in MK8 does seem unlikely based on the number of characters. Still I am very excited for the additional content.

Nico07 commented on Mario Kart 8 DLC Coming In November, Features ...:

This news made my day, it was speculated with the DLC in Mario Golf 3DS that this would be the way Nintendo would add content to the game. I will gladly buy both and any future packs. Take my money Nintendo! For those not interested simply don't purchase the DLC and keep playing what you have. Mario Katy Wii touched on add on content with weekly contests online, but this is way way better.

I have a Wii U (first and foremost), a PS4, 3DS XL, and gaming PC (i7 4770K, 8GB, SSD, 660GTX OC). I would have a Xbox One, but I frankly don't have the money for it now. But I have started up a gaming collection of sorts as of late including owning a Wii, NGC, N64, SNES, PS3, PS2 slim, Playstation, 360, XBOX, and Dreamcast. I'd love to get a hold of an old style NES and even Virtual Boy like I had years ago that I had purchased in a rental case used from Blockbuster for $99. I think I am done selling off my old consoles.

@AlexOlney Plex supports a lot of media formats but it would be nice if this supported more. I know it probably wont but it would be nice. The best non-PC device I own for playing video is the Western Digital TV Live Hub. It has 1TB of storage and plays more media formats than any other device like it, including Roku, AppleTV, Chromecast and others.

I have been using Plex installed on a home server, but it can easily run from virtually any PC. Movies are viewed on the Wii U with its web browser and play back in HD without problem.
Depending on how ambitious this project is I may buy into it if it allows playback of content stored on the Wii U.

Nico07 commented on Super Mario Kart Speeds Onto the North America...:

@tysonfury The FX chip is exactly the reason that we never saw Star Fox (SNES) release on the Wii as well. Basically in addition to the game code, Nintendo would need to add emulation of the chip as well. I'm guessing that Nintendo hasn't really felt it necessary to devote any resources to this task. Even on PC emulators, Star Fox for the SNES can be fairly buggy.

I'm pretty excited for this game and will be picking it up in September in North America. My only concern is this possible retailer specific DLC. I plan on picking up from retailer Best Buy but I really want ALL of the announced DLC. I suppose an option to purchase all DLC will come at some point.

@ChuJelly That was my first thought as well. Sure a few like Marth don't look as refined as they could perhaps look. But, compared to the detail of ahm.. Skylanders, these figures look amazing. Granted these are probably some of the best of those available, even though the Kirby shown has a smeared eye. Still they all look pretty amazing.

@thehoppypoppy You don't have to play with friends as you can compete against them alone, perhaps even use them online even. I'm still waiting to see which ones are used and how they will enhance Mario Kart 8. Still I will plan on picking up a dozen or so of them.

@rjejr Good point. They may have the base game at $40 and then maybe a version packed with amiibo for more. As this game will support amiibo I hope Nintendo explains soon how amiibo works. Will certain characters only work with certain games? I just would love to know if Samuel and Link amiibo will work in Mario Kart 8.

@XCWarrior Some people won't be happy until Smash Bros releases. Myself I will be grabbing the last two Wii Sports Club titles when available for DL. I wish Nintendo would push out a few N64 and DS games for Wii U VC. It will be interesting to see if when DS games like Mario Kart DS releases if it has online play or not. Can't wait.

Nico07 commented on Talking Point: New Ideas, Not New IPs, Are The...:

@torotoid64 What you suggest is part of the problem. As has been mentioned in this article and has been said by others, but most gamers don't want innovative new IP. Most of us say we do, but when it comes to what games we will ACTUALLY buy we want them to have Mario on the cover or the phrase Call of Duty. Nintendo is great at producing content and then matching it to a new or existing IP.

In my opinion, the Wii U has a lot of great content. Sure it doesn't have Smash Brothers or a new Zelda yet, but I have over 30 games for the Wii U. The Mario games (including Mario Kart 8) are great bringing fresh "New" level design and gameplay. The addition of an onscreen map and inventory as well as updated HD graphics for Wind Waker are great. But some of the games I have most enjoyed are NintendoLand, Game and Wario, ZombiU, Rayman Legends, the four Lego games, Most Wanted U, Pikmin 3, and even Tank!Tank!Tank!. Most of these games that are available cross platform offer great features on Wii U such as seperate screen multiplayer for Lego games. Also controlling Murphy in Rayman Legends is by far easiest on the Wii U as his stages were clearly designed for the Wii U. Clearly some of the games I have listed (and several I haven't listed) aren't for everyone, but that's my point. We often exclude games because we discredit the characters in them as too childish or whatever other reasons we gamers use instead of giving new and unfamiliar IP a try.

Nico07 commented on Shigeru Miyamoto Confirms That Dual GamePad Su...:

I would certainly love to see dual Gamepads and had been thinking it would happen since Reggie announced that it would happen (I think back in 2012). I even bought a second Gamepad charger in anticipation. But at this point, the Wii U has a fairly strong library of it's biggest games. Sure Smash is yet to come, but likely will release pre-dual Gamepads. Mario Kart wouldn't support it without a patch. We already have Mario 3D World that would likely not support it and so really what would support it? I think Nintendo should stick to developing the titles they are working on and save the dual Gamepad option for a later patch for many games and or new content post Zelda Wii U.

Nico07 commented on E3 2014: Amiibo Figures Will Have A Price Tag ...:

@joorgeerdz yeah, retailers have used RFID for security for years. It's relatively inexpensive and when one of these tags attached to merchandise or placed inside of a box passes a security check point it will sound an alarm. During the checkout process the employee passes the product over a pad they use to deactivate the RFID tracker.

Nico07 commented on E3 2014: Amiibo Figures Will Have A Price Tag ...:

@RedYoshi999 I thought that all amiibo figures could be used on all amiibo supported games. So when they release and Mario Kart 8 receives it's amiibo support you can race as Link or Samus, or have some other useful interaction with these figures in game (special item, courses, etc).

Nico07 commented on Review: LEGO The Hobbit (Wii U):

@Gerbwmu Lego City Undercover got me hooked as well. I played it with kids in the Wii U drought of early 2013. We then grabbed Lego Batman 2 and Lego Marvel. Both of these games had excellent two player separate experiences. Even the latest Lego Movie game is fun. I held off on Lego Hobbit for content as my kids are still young for these movies. But Lego Batman 3 should be great on Wii U. Lego Marvel 2 is almost certain and despite not selling well (because of a low Wii U system owner base) I would buy a Lego City 2 game day one.
