A New Look at Mario as He Jumps into 3D

Past Mario™ games have let the blue-suspendered hero roam around fully rendered 3D landscapes. Now, for the first time, players can see true depth of their environment without the need for special glasses. Super Mario™ is a 3D evolution of classic Mario platforming featuring new level designs and challenges.

  • 3D visuals make it easier for players to judge the depths and distances in their environments. Players can more accurately judge the jump to the next platform or how far Mario is from a question block.
  • New and familiar abilities add unique game-play strategies to the adventure. Mario can perform a rolling somersault attack or run fast with a dash move. Or, as Tanooki Mario, he can use his tail to hover, perform floating jumps or attacks.
  • The Circle Pad gives players complete control to confidently move Mario through fun and challenging environments.
  • New enemies include Goombas with tails, tall stacks of Goombas and a Piranha Plant that spits ink to obscure a player’s view.

@19 at the time of my comment it said on super mario wiki that it was coming out this month in europe. WHY HAVE THEY PUSHED IT BACK? WHY? why.

Cipher said:

@JakeTheChao It was never planned to launch this month. One of Nintendo's press sites had the game pegged down for the end of the year, but for some reason, they randomly gave it an August date. They did the same with Skyward Sword and Fortune Street, and we know that's obviously not right. Super Mario Wiki took information they knew was wrong and published it anyway, which they shouldn't have done.

This game is really starting to look like SMB3. With the airship, the big koopa dude, and the fact that you fall from the sky after you beat him (And besides the obvious Tanooki suit)...LOVE IT!

GOING TO BLOW MY MIND I WANT THIS GAME Imagine mario in a 3d land with old power ups they should include other playble characters like birdo that would be the bomb

For my birthday I got a homemade 3ds game coupon. I've been planning on using it on this when it comes out in November. My birthday was in April.

Geonjaha said:

I'm obviously getting this game. I just fear that it will be too short and too easy. Those are the feelings I get based on the previews and the fact that they're adding 3D effects (thus less overall levels due to time loss).

LuigiSucks said:

Oh ya numba thirty!
This year im gettin:
super mario 3d land, mariokart 7, starfox 64 3d, and luigi's mansion 2(febuary)

I already have SUPER Street Fighter IV(10/10), Ridge Racer 3D(9/10), LEGO Pirates of the Carribean(7/10), LoZ Ocarina of Time(59.8/10), and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D(9/10).

Super-Mario-Fan said:

I love this game but how come all the new mario games have to reffer back to super mario bros.3 im not saying i dont like the game but its always always about SMB.3

I am not convinced that that is the Tanooki Suit in the game. Why is this you may ask well it is simple we don't see Mario as a stature. If I remember the suit right it turns Mario to stone for a brief bit.

Based off what I'm (hopefully) getting back on my tax returns, after the few important things I have to take care of for with my car, I am definately going to be buying a 3DS along with Mario 3DsLand, and Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D! It'll definately give me something to keep occupied for awhile between them both! So here's hoping to getting enough returned to cover it all! I'll let yas all know!

saki_slash said:

Wow Just passed 10 full years already eh? How time really does fly! I'm just so glad the official sequal is FINALLY coming! What exactly is the plot? Meaning; why is Luigi back in mansions, Whats professor E. Gadds reasoning etc?

Can't wait to get this game. I think that there should be Luigi specific games for the 3DS. Why does only the Wii U get Luigi's glory?
