@Blast16 Uh, did you forget the "New" Mario series? Nintendo DID release a literal "New" Mario platformer every year for a while. From 2006 to 2013, only 2008 didn't see a new Mario platformer.

Looks good to me, expect the cartoonishness needed to make it run well. Makes sense though, as it runs at 60 FPS even on Switch (announced recently).

TotK comes off as just silly. Link is basically a god and getting to any place is so freaking easy with all the tools you have.

I actually really don't like all the building in the game. It's just not why I liked BotW - I liked the core of that game much better.

@Bret That isn't much more than getting an Elite controller, if you think about it. Plus, I believe it works with more than just the Switch - if so, that eliminates buying multiple controllers.

@Cashews old vinyl is your example? Everyone I've ever known in existence makes a digital copy of their vinyl records to play when not around a record player... THE EXACT SAME THING AS MAKING A DIGITAL DUMP COPY AND EMULATING A GAME. Enthusiasts can get a modern machine that plays some old cartridges, but guess what those (not ridiculously expensive ones) use? Emulators! Nintendo even takes open-source emulators to use on their systems for crying out loud.

@Cashews I find it to be theft to not carry over your purchases to new Nintendo hardware and recharging everyone for the same thing. But meh, maybe that's me.

I already bought the game... and I'm going to play it on PC, and probably on Switch too, because I will play it where I damn well please, not where Nintendo damn well pleases.

People crap on the Wii U generation, but forget that Nintendo had the Wii U AND the 3DS, which combined sold almost 90 million units. The Switch eliminated their handheld division as one device.

@BloodWolfe if you do hook up the Dreamcast, I recommend burning a copy of the English-patched game Rent A Hero. A translation was released this week, so basically it is a brand new DC game.

I'm definitely going to download it eventually; games run so much better on my gaming PC (if they work, which this will eventually on Yuzu).

@BloodWolfe Do what I did: buy a Dreamcast. That brought back my love of gaming.

@Fangleman32 A lot of people who "pirate" BOTW bought it first, like me. My PC just runs the game way better. I beat it once on Switch, then nearly again about a month ago at 1440p and 60 FPS.

@Rascal0302 So much this. $360 is a slap in the face when you could get an Xbox Series S and some games for that money (or a year of Game Pass), plus you get an awesome controller usable on PC without hassle.

Honestly, even if they just shook up the map with more cities and things to do - and added a new story - I would be satisfied. The gameplay could be identical (except weapons breaking in 5 hits) and I'd still beat it.

So, your defining trait that makes the SP the best is that you are self-conscious?

For me, I use a RG351P for GBA games. The screen is exactly 2x that of the OG GBA so the games scale perfectly.

For an official handheld, the PSP Go is my pick, with the OG GBA second - if it has a modded screen with a backlight.

The PSP Go is also a competent media player, doesn't fuss with cartridges or those weird disc things, is stupid easy to hack and has a ton of homebrew, and is ultra-portable.

Considering I've only seriously played BOTW, where you can't name him, this wasn't much of a question.
