Re: Here's Why The Cover To F-Zero Is So Special

That box art is awesome. I've just recently been playing a LOT of F-Zero GX and its an amazing Nintendo (+Sega dev) game. The amount of goofy anime style characters (and especially the cut scene interviews when you win) are just....so Nintendo. One of the most challenging first party titles i've ever played from N, and really hoping Switch gets a new F-Zero now.

Re: Review: Saints Row IV: Re-Elected - Marvellously Madcap Open-World Fun

Just wanted to add a warning, December 2020: friend and i got this for Switch to play together. We've been having MANY software crashes, and its starting to seem like the game might not be playable in multiplayer.

It crashes whenever we complete a mission and the game tries to save the file. It crashes to switch homescreen.

It seems like it might run better in singleplayer offline mode, but, we were hoping to play it two-player together. Be warned, it may not work. We've had to redo several missions to get the save to work, and some side-quests seem to be impossible to complete, because we can never escape the mission and save without a crash.

otherwise, the game seems really fun, honestly.

Re: DOOM Eternal Switch Release Still Happening, id Software Says It's "Very Close"

they may well be compelled to keep delaying this as long as possible in order to "refresh" the title---i.e. prime the market of people who already bought it on other consoles, give them enough time between releases (of the same game) and then get that whole new second wave of first time players, PLUS the people who just need it on switch. I.E. give em time off, and ensure a second sale.

@WickedUnicarnBoi hating on fortnite is a popular pastime for many gamers, and i agree, ignore the pop-hate. Its silly to hate on games just because they dont appeal to you. I'm an adult gamer who's played about 200 hrs of FN and think it's amazing. I've also beaten Dark Souls without a guide, and finished Enter The Gungeon. But i guess im a casual scumbag for liking FN. ;']

Re: Demons Ate My Neighbors! Brings Co-Op Twin-Stick Action To Switch Next Year

The key will be if they can nail the Monster Movie B- humor/vibe, and if the game "feels" like the original. I sometimes dont love when a 16 bit game is translated into modern graphics (ducktales 8bit remaster for example)---it somehow fundamentally changes the experience, sometimes (not always) for the worse.

Get the humor right, and especially that soundtrack, maybe we'll be in business.

Can anyone confirm---will the game be playable ONLINE for co-op missions and campaign? I played a TON of this on WiiU, and am reluctant to rebuy it. But if we could have ONLINE support for the challenge mode (the co-op challenges are really tough, and you basically need a second player) i might consider it......with COVID, i dont see much Couch Co Op in my future.....

@mattesdude look into getting a Flashboy. I have one. Its a ROM card. There are a lot of interesting homebrews available at Planet Virtualboy (quality varies) but also will save you $$$ on buying Jack Bros or Waterworld (i own both, but the Flashboy is far cheaper).

I own a working VB and many of the games above. I can say,

1. the rumors about headaches and eye strain are very overrated (I've never had a headache after 1+ hour of playtime) and eyes sometimes feel funny for like, maybe 2 minutes, after a long session. Like i was staring at something too close to me. Notthing major.

Teleroboboxer is hard as heck but similar to Punch Out---and should be higher on the list. Its far more ambitious and interesting than, say, Bowling.

If you want a great article on VB, check out (retronaut) Benj Edward's article here:

i am grinning ear to ear. I've been fortunate enough to go to Japan, and can definitely say, if i saw this while i was there, it would have been amazing, but only "one more thing" among all the wild amazing stuff you see every day.

**Note, just realized this is in Taiwan, but my original comment's underlying truth still stands.

@SkullDragr @PoorGeno Seems like one of skulldragr's comments was either modded or deleted. You were asking about my age. I'm definitely older than you--saw Empire Strikes Back in the theater, for example (original run, yes). I also live in a major USA city where the violence of looters was within blocks of my house (i dont support this) and also less than 4 miles from where multiple videos show cops beating innocent protesters, including a white college student who was standing and shouting when they were hit with a police baton (all on camera--cop has now been removed from duty pending investigation) and also where we've had 2 major incidents where media has documented cops befriending armed white militia-types who are confronting/attacking BLM protesters.

It's real. You can pretend it isnt, but it is. FWIW, I'm white, and I support police reform AND the need for police. And i also support BLM, and I also support free speech for everyone.

I'd settle it in smash. But it would seem a bit ironic, since violence isnt actually the answer.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's ARMS Fighter Will Be Revealed In Livestream Next Week

@SkullDragr keep drinking the faux news dude

i live in a city where protests turned violent, and at the same time, videos of cops beating completely peaceful protesters were rampant. Also cops high fiving and shaking hands with armed white mobs. Didnt believe it myself until i saw it. Police reform is a real need. Its more complicated than parroting faux news "antifa antifa squalk" or blaming stuff you dont understand. Its not as simple as "defund police" OR blame Antifa. And even bringing up BLM shows ignorance. BLM isnt the violence or the problem.

Police reform is a real issue and requires action. Just blaming the 1% of violent idiots and dismissing the issue is ignorant.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Sequel Not In The Works, But Its Director Would "Love To Do More"

@Ragdoll72 I watched it, personally, because the reviews were mixed (hard to determine if it was good or bad) and i am part of a videogame podcast and wanted to report on it.

Keep in mind, Kids arent a good gauge of whether a film is good. They dont have critical distance/experience to know whether Pixar vs. awful film like Sonic are good/bad. They digest everything they are exposed to. Meanwhile, adults can recongize (say, Pixar) as great--and we need not pretend things like Sanic are anything other than a cash grab....

Each one of us has a billion skeletons in the closet from childhood--media we liked, and now (hopefully) have the intelligence to reevaluate.

I respect that you thought it was fun--but in objective, critical terms, it was absolutely awful. So many moments that could have been funny, undermined by lazy/nonexistent jokes and writing/ script that was obviously glued together from multiple drafts. Even Carrey couldnt carry it.

I am a fan of many awful films, fwiw--the key is knowing when it is bad. Just because one enjoys something doesnt make it critically good.
